  1. This isn't true , anyone who says Jags are unreliable are living in the past!
  2. There was one around the corner from me, it had an upgraded exhaust. It sounded fantastic, nice wheels aswell!
  3. This was true in the past but not now! Not sure about a 98 car, but in the last 4 or 5 years things have improved hugely. Infact now they're better built and more reliable than a lot of German cars including Mercs and BMW's, this is also backed up by customer surveys. Are you aware of the Nikasil lining of the bores issue, the sulphur in some low quality fuel breaks up the Nikasil lining in the cylinders, causing a loss of compression. Once the lining is damaged, excessive bore wear of the soft, underlying alloy occurs very quickly. This was common amongst BMW's and Jags in the late ninetys, the Nikasil coating process was developed by the German firm Mahle. The problem wasn't apparent during testing as they only used good quality fuel. Therfore some cars would be okay, best to get it checked out. http://www.dandmbr.co.uk/jaguar/x308tips.htm
  4. Same here, I bent the front hanger a little to pull it up. I'm going to wrap some stainless sheet around the front box so if I do scrape I won't do any damage!
  5. Yes, I see what you mean. Good explanation, all clear now! Cheers
  6. I've just finished putting on an upper control arm , easy enough. The rubber boot was split with grease coming out.
  7. It's very embarassing, sounds crap!
  8. Yes, definately lacking up front. Hope they get someone before the start of the season.
  9. Just replacing mine because the rubber boots are a mess, I've been getting this loud metallic noise which appears to be coming from each side of the car at the front when I brake, hopefully it might cure this aswell. The new links will go on okay, just strange to find that they're longer than the old ones. Never heard of 'cheap toyota parts', Is this the place in the States? http://www.toyotapartscheap.com/ Cheers
  10. Yep, they are the front ones.
  11. Would they make new ones longer to compensate for changes in the stiffness of the suspension that have happened over time. Maybe the new ones improve or rectify things. Yes they were £46.95 each inclusive . They gave me a discount of 10%, so £42.26 each inclusive. Thanks for checking the part number Colsoop, may aswell put them on then! I'm sure Nic could get them cheaper but I couldn't wait.
  12. Just got some new stabiliser bar links but they're about 10mm longer than the old ones. part no : 48820-24010 Is this normal?
  13. This one does, the price was reduced so the advert changed. Click
  14. Anyone tried these air conditioning products from Halfords? What do you think? http://www.coolproducts.info/index.php

    Fancyplates

Got my rear plate last week, took 6 weeks. It was a large plate for the rear, 535 x 175. After 3 weeks I sent 3 emails to 2 addresses which they ignored, I rang them up and they said they were waiting for the large size plastic base which would arrive the following week when I should get the plate. It finally arrived 3 weeks after this. Needless to say I won't be using them again.
  17. Tw@t! I'll try someone else on Ebay.
  18. Have you got it yet, any good?
  19. Just what I was thinking, might be a good idea to cut around the head of the pin with a sharp knife before you knock them out.
  20. If you've got water in the passenger footwell it could be nothing else but a leak from either the heater matrix , the pipes or other stuff connected , whatever the cause of the leak it would have to be investigated. Dashboard out to get access, time consuming! Your coolant level would start to go down!
  21. I get that nice clunk sound, they were like that when I got the car. If everthing is the way it was designed it should be like this. The dynamat has helped .
  22. Dynamat , check door rubbers aswell. Also check the catch is still aligned.
  23. Have you looked on Ebay, wouldn't mind getting one if they're any good! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14778&item=4563392691&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=18436&item=7987613270&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
