Are you sure that you don't have the problem at the horn itself, I've never had to touch mine so I'm not familiar with connections but that's where you normally encounter problems with corrosion or the connector being disturbed etc.

11 psi is 0.76 bar and is about what you would expect from a stock TT. Do you know what boost you were getting before fitting the exhaust?

I don't think you'll be disappointed. My brother said it was boring but I liked the car a lot, I drove it quite a few times.

Mine haven't and they're as good new after a couple of years without lacquer.

You could try the polished lip first. I'm not sure about lacquering them, can you get a durable finish and do they use salt on the roads in France during the winter?

My brother had an E39 530d M Sport. It had the manual gearbox and he got it remapped but he found it very boring, fast at overtaking though with all that torque.

Ebay is worth a try, narrow them down by clicking on nearest first. The sellers nearly always want the buyer to pick it up so you'll obviously have less competion when bidding if any at all. I paid £100 for a really nice secondhand one which costs around £320 new.
