  1. Well unless the 2jz is way diff to the 1jz head.. i dont see how yer gonna fit a spline down pass the cams to get onto the head bolts...and i know it cant be that diff since i can bolt a 1jz head right onto a 2jz block. Andy
  2. yes some cars do have to have the cams removed to get the head off. Andy PS yes cams have to come out.
  3. You could try going to your local motorbike place and getting them there, they use them for exhaust clamps. Andy
  4. http://www.xspeed.com.au/manuals.php there see if thats any good. Andy
  5. Yep sounds like rings and i just came back from the mates car and he has this exact symptom, oil is stinking of petrol so leakdown test tuesday . Andy
  6. Mark Who owns the garage is a top guy and knows his stuff..if you want an alternative, then you could try Duncan at hypertec over at bonnybridge, he was Toyotas top mechanic in the Uk in 1999 IIRC, and does lots of high performance cars as well, and wont rip the a$$ outta you. Andy
  7. your problem is gonna be how do you rebalance them ?.
  8. Both ways work ok it's just a little awkward doing the rear hose, and most dont undo the block pllug, unless you want a COMPLETE change,it just depends on how much time you want to spend changing the water system and how dirty you want to get. Andy
  9. you take it off...put it back on and then take it back off again..and then you say GROUNDHOG DAY IS HERE!! .
  10. K Car cold, take the rad cap off and start the car, switch the blower on to full and heater onto full, get yourself a nice big jug for adding the water into the rad. keep the car running at a fast idle and eventually the thermostat will open and thats when the water will be cicurlating fully, you will start to get bubbles (this is AIR) coming outta the top of the rad just keep adding water in and eventually you will remove the airlock. it takes a while to get the airlock out, keep checking the heat from the airvents and they will eventually go very hot. And be careful as doing this can get you a nasty burn. Replace rad cap and check expansion tank and take car for a run and check levels later . Andy
  11. Thats because platinum wont realease the heat as fast as copper will .
  12. Ian Ya cow ..i aint the one who drinks the blue bombay stuff mister.... i should have came over last year when i saw you at TOTB, sitting in that red supe of yours and skelped yer arse for you . happay Christmas mate, and everyone else. Andy
  13. JohnA Thanks and very nice reply, pics are top. The friend in the states Jared i mentioned on the walkthrough IS going to sort out some more mods for the A340e box but right now he is jiggling 2 jobs and trying to rebuild his car. so there are more mods. He has an idea on what is done to the valve body BUT he needed me to take the one Andy (Carlos the sniper ), sent me up apart, which i decided not to do as i know there is about 8/9 checkballs running around inside the valvebody, and since it wasnt mine to feck up i decided not to do that. I will replace the shim in the C2 accumulator for a 8mm shim, (we have a 6mm shim in there just now and a 6mm shim in the other accumulator. But when your putting out lots of power the box just has major problems keeping up. So if your BPU+ and want to do this mod then a 6mm shim and a 8mm shim would prob be perfect. Andy PS It might be nice if one of the mods on here took the walkthrough from the LSOC and this thread and added it to the FAQ section and then there would be no need for other to go flitting off to another site. As i wont be able to keep the pics on my own place for long, bulldog are tight gits with space....Hmm bulldog are just gits .
  14. http://www.farecla.com/automotive.asp?id=66&stage=Automotive&set=1 There ya go G3 will do the trick for you . Andy
  15. Joe They wont say what they do , lots have tried to find out but no one has yet posted what it is they actually do..i have a good idea well a friend does but this is good enough to save buying the shifter kit. But i guess thats a chocie people make on there own . Andy PS yes if you do this mod it is ALWAYS better to add a transmission cooler.
  16. use Farecla a lot easierdoing them with that than T-Cut
  17. pulling the trac fuse is meant to just open the butterfly fully, but the box can still cause the timing to be pulled due to the slow change, it just depends on how good a box you have in your car i guess .
  18. Geoff You are dead right about turning up the pressure to much but the pressure regulator has 3 settings which is prob because they used the A340 box in diff cars, and would have altered the pressure accordingly. We have just advised anyone who does this modification to the box to use the dial on the regulator, which allows anyone to turn up the pressure to the top level, you could put a small shim inside the regulator, but like you say you could then blow the seals inside the box. And we do both accumulators as your right 2nd to 3rd is the slowest change,we have another one a friend is going to do and he will use larger shims in the 2nd to 3rd change to see how it goes, and yes the solid bar is a know trick as well . b'have Thanks sir, we just like to pass out the info, but like i said on the walkthrough, it was NOT my mod, it was Jared in the states who got together with a top Toyota box guy and they came up with the simplest way to modify the box and cure some farting you can get from them when you go with big power due to the timing being pulled as the box is changing so slowly.
  19. We have also pulled the trac fuse and we found it made very little diff to the changing of the box, this modification DOES make a diff to the change of the box as it is altering part of the changing system of the box. Andy
  20. Hi All I am not sure how good the Supra box changes, but if it is like the soarer which it nearly is then it aint that quick at changing... we did a couple of mods to our box a month ago and it has transformed the box.. We have now done the walkthrough on this and have posted it here... http://www.jkwebdesign.net/lsocbb/viewtopic.php?p=18203#18203 So if you feel that it would help the supra box then please enjoy. Andy
  21. Ken yes it was me ..and yes it was the plugs along with running 21psi on 380 injectors and nothing to control anything...ok ok i know a little mad but everything has changed since them early days..and the car is now running so nice..although i will put larger injectors than the present 440's and i really need to have a better stall on the converter ..all in good time . Andy PS hope your enjoying your Supra mate .
  22. or you could do it yourself .... http://www.amsoil.com/faqs/ATF_and_Filter_Change_Procedures.pdf
