The wife had some dill in a BMW trying to overtake her... Now she assures me that she doesnt race it, however after about 3 roundabouts on a dual carriageway the guy decided to go the wrong way round a roundabout in rush hour traffic to get in front:idea:

Guys / gals, Just noticed today that the 3 of the 6 Aircon buttons (on the left) do not light up when the headlamps are on. Is there a fuse for this ?Is this an easy fix? Or is it a new set of buttons Any help much appreciated Cheers Paul

Could it be the starter motor? I've heard the solenoids are a common problem with supras. Definately not the Starter motor - no clicking ie solenoid engaging and starter motor turns the engine fine. Have read of fuel pump relay problems...anyone else had this? Cheers Paul

Ive had my 97 NA Supra for 3.5 years now and have to say it is normally very reliable. However about 2 years ago it refused to start for about 2 minutes. The engine was cranking over fine but it sounded like there was no spark.Eventually it spluttered into life firing on about 2 cylinders initially and has been fine ever since until today.I put that down to water in the local Tescos petrol as they had to change their tanks at the time. Anyway today it was about -4 outside and the car had not been started for about 2 days.It was not going to start. the occassional firing as if on one cylinder but mainly felt as if there was no spark.Eventually the battery was getting to low so charged it up and changed the distributer cap. After about 6 hours of charge it did not sound happy when cranking but eventually burst into life on a couple of cylinders and then was fine. Im wondering if the coil or main HT lead might be the cause? has anyone else had this? maybe its just the damp? Cheers Paul

Toyota dealers can be a bl**dy rip off. I was quoted £550 for a full service and a cam belt change. When i came to collect it the bill was £900 There main argument was that the Radiator had to be drained and removed to get at the crank bolt and this was not normal. I later found out that it is normal to do this...They had gone bust by that time so couldnt do anything about it. Never been back to a toyota dealer since. Paul

OK removed the slots from the bulb sockets from the 9005 bulbs and they fit fine. Does anyone know what the reason is for the different slots on the J spec? Cheers Paul
-
Just bought a low beam headlight for my 97 Facelift J spec NA from Halfords. Their book says it should be a 9005 this however is 60W whereas the (UK) manual states 51 W. So bought this and the socket on the bulb has 2 guides instead of one. Should I buy the 9006 and try to bodge it in or keep the 9005 and cut the 2 guides out from the bulb socket... Do Halfords actually sell a bulb that fits? I think not. Why do J specs have to be different Cheers Paul

Air con on high, under inflated tyres, driving with windows down and high rolling resistance tyres can all have a significant affect. Silly question but have you changed the airfilter lately and checked there is no restrictions in the inlet. I had a lump of newspaper jammed in the bumper opening close to one of the air intakes which could only be seen from underneath... Cheers Paul

Same pics are in this weeks Autocar. They describe it as a mid engined 5.4 liter V10 with 500hp. I feel a home inprovement loan may be in order... Cheers Paul

Had mine for 3.5 years and can vouch for their bomb proof reliability. Only problem was front discs and seized front caliper well known if you cane it.. Paul

I think the best replacement is the TRD panel filter which keeps the stock double air intake to improve performance at speed. TRD Part number is 00642-17801-002 saw it for $78 in the US. Anyone get it cheaper or from a UK site? Cheers Paul

I have had a horrible sounding resonating row at low revs Found out there are thin sheet metal heat deflectors around the CAT and downpipe on the exhaust. These resonate when a bit of rust sets in or if you bottom it out on a ramp the CAT heat deflector can get damaged. Solution: Ripped the CAT heat deflector off and bent the Downpipe heat deflector. Problem sorted:innocent: Paul
