  1. I know how you feel, best of luck fella. Matt
  2. Admiral mate, please do yourself a favour and DON'T use them.
  3. Hi everyone, In April my supe was stolen, you may remember me from such threads as... http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=36917&highlight=burgled Anyway, I'm still going throught the arduous process of getting the right figure for the vehcle, Firstly I was offered £5500 and subsequent battling, somehow lead to an assessor saying my MKIVTT supe with 72000 miles was worth about £4k. I've now stepped the claim up a gear and have requested all of the documentataion for the claim under the Data Protection Act and I trying to organise a 'Supra Friendly' assessor, all costs paid for by myself. If anyone knows of a competant assessor who has the relevant membership to the professional body (that's what Admiral require) Please PM me or email at [email protected]. Cheers, Matt P.S. Never-ever-ever have any dealings with Admiral, they WILL try to screw you in every hole possible.
  4. I agree fella, I was 24-5 with a 214SLi 5d Rover, luck smiled on me and I could afford... ...A push-bike for 2 years (no ban, just a personal choice)... ... Then a Supra and a year after an L reg clio for the shopping and winter. My first years insurance (no claims, but no no-claims (For the Supe came in at 690, second at 660. Clio 360). I thought I had a right deal, still, three months after the theft and all they have offered is 5.5k on a theft claim for a 72kMl '94 GZ I'm starting to see what insurance firms are made of, my girlfriend works for one, and a lot of my letters etc go through her, and her directors... ...I'd have never entertained being able to insure even a knackered 2.8 Capri in my early 20's, my C reg 1.1 polo at 18yrs was 660 quid, and my Rover was still 600 at 24-5... You get what you pay for, but then again... Only if it's in writing. Insurance IS gambling, odds sway month by month. They also list cars by accident payout value, their risk. There's some mathematics too it she hasn't discovered yet. Guaranteed a Supra causes more carnage than an astra. I, for a start knew mine was better than me. By my reckoning, insure any, rear wheel drive, car in the Autumn. Less accidents for the preceeding 3 months see, like a horse on bad form.... less risk of winning (from the bookies eyes) just my observations and experiences people. Matt P.S. I got a feeling I should lay off the Rum about an hour ago, should have listened...
  5. Check this out for size, basically the letter I sent the other day as a response. This is only the start i expect... Good call with the wider ranging adverts, to be honest I hadn't thought of scouring the other lot. I think my sub's just run out for JP, best sign up at billing (must check this years date!!!!), no car to show this time(unless I get me skates on!). ...The letter, you may want to use it or abuse it! : ...Faff... I confirm receipt of your letter dated 24th June 2005 and the accompanying cheque. It would give me great pleasure if you would consider the following words and attached documentary evidence and perform an adjustment against this claim, bringing it more in line with real world figures. Upon the receipt of the settlement document I was quite disappointed with the figure that lay therein. In an effort to assist you in finding a just and correct figure I have made many investigations and consulted various website available to me. You will find attached, the results of my investigations. On page 1 you will find the results of a Parkers guide search. Parkers are effectively a competitor for Glass’ and as such will follow the same modes of assessment in order to remain competitive. I would consider my vehicle, a 1994 72,000 mile GZ MkIV Twin Turbo Supra to have been in good condition at the time of the theft. There was no excessive wear to the interior and the car in fact sported UK cream leather, very rarely seen in an imported Supra. Pages 2-14 are examples of vehicles currently on sale which are as close to the specification of my vehicle, and differences have been noted on each page. Perhaps the closest by specification and mileage is on pages 6 and 7. Pages 14-22 is a discussion from the MKIV Supra forum in the UK about the general differences in available trim level between the SZ, RZ, RZ-S, GZ types. This is to assist you in any further investigations, so that you are able to judge the available specification of any car you may find. As you can see from the information presented, I am currently unable to replace the vehicle with one that likens the specification of my previous vehicle, based on the figure given. It seems I have been given a value lower than what a vehicle may attract when part exchanged with a dealer (see Page 1). I await your response with interest. Kind Regards, ...Blah-blah... Matt BTW: Nice one. It's good to know people are still interested, didn't wanna drive anyone to or something
  6. Yep, I do have news: The fella's name was Quincey Valentino Maynard, age 29 of Lindsey Avenue, Abington (just around the corner from my house, ffs) Got 2 years for aggravated vehicle taking... here's a link to the article in the local rag Here........ That's all they could give him by law.... I've had the most ridiculous settlement figure for the car from the Insurance company, they say £5,540, I say :thumbdown Currently in the midst of the first appeal with the insurance firm, the cheapest I can find on AutoTrader is about 8k for a similar model, so 7.5k would be nice, but unlikely. I've got my plate on retention filally so that's another few quid. On the idea of replacing my Supe, I have got an eye out for Nic_f's at the moment, his really hits the top level of what i can afford so I need to know back from the insurance before I can torment myself by going and having a look. It does however seem to have pretty much everything on it I would want. Not sure on the Wood dash mind. Cheers, Matt
  7. Apparently word from the Law is... he's been released on delayed charge bail. Wtf is delayed charge bail, does that mean they haven't charged him yet??? He was driving the car and caught red handed ffs.
  8. No news either. Can't follow anything up until Thursday. I would assume (dangerous I know, given our shoddy law system) that since he's got Dangerous driving, evading arrest, Possesion of stolen goods, destruction of private property and all that, he's been remanded in custody. In actual fact he's probably been bailed for a packet of smarties due to having 8 kids, and has dissappeared into the depths of the next nearest large town never to be seen again. ... Face it, he's so thick as to nick a Supra, which are sooooo easily identifiable, then proceed to drive it no further than 3 miles in radius from where it was nicked with the original plates still on. He must present more of a danger to himself by breathing than anything else. So even worse than being bailed, they'll probably let him go. I want to see that little shit squirm in court, I hope I get the chance.
  9. No news on the car as yet. As it's part of the investigation It'll probably be about 3 weeks before the Police will release it to the insurance company for them to go over it. I've also been sent to Epsom/Leatherhead by work and haven't been able to chase anything up yet this week. Nothing to do with caning the expenses every night of course Had to drive down here in an L reg Clio, smelled of 'musty french' all the way down, not best i'll tell you. As you can probably tell I've cheered up a little bit, might as well since when I get home I'll be knee deep in insurance docs again. That's guaranteed to ruin my mood. Matt
  10. The other car was a H-ish reg Rover 200, all the side was cut away and the steering wheel had been chopped in half. The 2 old people who were in the car are apparently ok.
  11. A moments silence, I think. Just have to see what the insurance company come up with. Bastard, fucking bastard http://photos7.flickr.com/10253222_0d0e4a3eab_o.jpg http://photos8.flickr.com/10253221_382071898d_o.jpg http://photos5.flickr.com/10253220_37a6345ac4_o.jpg http://photos8.flickr.com/10253219_a51ebc5ca2_o.jpg http://photos6.flickr.com/10253218_1b53fbd78e_o.jpg
  12. Hi All, The car's been recovered after a chase around Northampton this morning, the thieving twat's been nicked and is in the General. The car was in an accident with an old couple's vehicle, but i've been told they're ok which is really good to hear. The damage is on the passenger side, how much and whether anything serious is broken I don't yet. Thanks for everyone's help, it's been a hell of a week so far. I owe you all beer!
  13. Just been out myself, couldn't see anything either, apart from a Police support fiesta parked up by the playing fields at the bottom, Didn't get out and have a look for the copper as that's not my most favorite part of town. I went down the dirt track as well, had a good look for tracks as not may cars going dwn there would have f1's on saw something similar but I guess I'm clutching at straws. Went through Dallinton too, there's a big fire up there 6+ police and 4 fire engines dousing a 2 storey block of flats, listening to Local radio but only the most basic of information coming through on that. A huge thank you for having a look, I owe everyone a beer! The support has been pretty much overwhelming. Matt
  14. Good thinking fella, 07903 060661, if you spot the car guys. Cheers. Will be leaving here in 30 to go and have a look about.
  15. Nothing from the Law yet. I've had to go back to work and have only just seen this update. That's fantastic, hopefully it hasn't been destroyed. I'm all on edge now, got a meeting soon, might have to see if I can postpone it and get down there. I can't concentrate like this.
