Hope you have good luck, just keep this in the back of your head, doing your own R&D, always (100% sure about this) costs about double or in some cases triple of what a known shop would charge to do it right the first time, and timewise things that take 3-5 days normally, can be extended 1-2 years if you do things yourself. I had a MKIV about 4 months ago of a customer that had a same issue and he was debating a shortblock change, I have completed that in one week exactly, with about 5 hours every day on the car. But I had everything in stock.

I think it should be taken to Arnout, I will be there (at Suprasport) on the 3rd-5th of July to tune some cars,so we can chat there.

I would recommend not to take the head out, ask Arnout for the camera to see what's going on inside, the less you take apart the less items are going to be lost. I talk from experience. Let Arnout take care of it, for him it's at least 1/4th of the work you are going to put on the car. It takes 2 hours to take out an engine-tranny combo, and about 45 minutes to strip it all down to pieces while out of the car. But when on the car it takes forever to do something.

Why exactly are you pulling the head off, since you don't have any compression on no 5 , it's not a 4 banger, Just pull the motor and install a new short block and call it a day, or take it to Arnout.

The problem on all the ebay ones is that the finish if you put the gasket from the stock intake on them you will see, it's not correct. The holes even the intake ports don't allign perfectly. You have to use a stock lower part and one of the ebay's upper plenum. That will work perfect for your target. Otherwise go the expensive route like VW or something else similar priced.

Mano, to import it on greek plates you need 67500 euros for tax etc. To maintain it the proper way especially if you buy one of the 5k pounds in the UK it would run you around 20k euros to make it a car. Unfortunatelly only the expensive UK rides are worth especially if you want reliability and practically to drive the car and not just look at it. Kostas car had an arm and a leg on hi performance parts thrown in there and was half working. If you see it now, you will think it's another car. But it takes time, money and patience. By the way I would just buy from the UK one of the Jurgen imports with really low miles, bone stock if possible and then go from there, at least you are starting from a solid base. cheers Dimitri

Have one it's a purple precision that locks at 3600rpm. Very low miles as the customer went 6 speed. I paid if i recall something like 1000euros with shipping, taxes etc. You can have it for 450€ plus shipping.
