  1. Ah, so you already had the stock suspension? I'm trying to find some to refit, without success...
  2. This looks amazing! I have a similarly aging UK spec, so I have some questions: The stock UK suspension: where/when did you get it? I was under the impression they're unobtainable now! The underneath work: where did you get it done? Did they have any findings? I'm told (literally today) that I've got some surface rust to deal with, so I'm interested in just how much was involved
  3. I do have some stock 17's - one of the tyres is toast though, so I'm really reluctant to buy a tyre for an experiment.
  4. Hmm. I can't rule out it being worn shocks - they've been on there many years. Can you remember what colour the springs were on the Bilstein's? Mine are green...but I can't see any other identifying marks.
  5. I'm fed up with a hard, crashy ride on my car, and I want to go softer, so am looking for advice as to what my options are. I've got a set of the Toyota Bilstein shocks at the moment - I don't know what springs I have other than I think they might be Eibach's - but honestly, I'm fed up with them. Wheel wise I have a set of 18" Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's, which I like the look of, 8.5" at the front, 10" at the back, 35 offset all round. The ride is just so much harder and crashier than I want these days. With the state of roads now, driving has stopped being fun, and particularly bad surfaces can end up shaking the car so much it feels like an aerotop. Unfortunately it's not possible to get hold of stock springs/shocks any more, otherwise I'd just do that, so I'm wanting to see what my options are to Make It Better. I don't care about track use, or drag strips - I just want something properly 'GT' that doesn't make me feel like my teeth are falling out at every bump. If that means changing the wheels too I'm OK with that. Can anyone advise?
  6. I sometimes lurk by proxy. Still got the same car 18 years later though.
  7. Hi, I'm trying to identify this part so I can order some; these pictures are taken from another car. These rubber blocks are at the ends of the cowl/scuttle panel, and sit under the point of the front wings where they meet the windscreen. If anyone can identify what they are called, or better still point me in the direction of a part number, I would be very grateful. Thanks!
  8. Blimey - cheers for all that Ian. However, and this is bizarre, it seems to have disappeared again! It's a bit clunkier than I remember in the even gears, but doesn't seem overly noisy!
  9. Ah ok - I'll drop him a PM then, cheers
  10. It was Mark @ Phoenix - already did a search! Not an option any more though
  11. Cheers - fingers crossed! It's been a while since I drove the A14...
  12. Cheers for that Chris! I guess the opposite question is what am I leaving myself open to if I don't do anything; am I risking a catastrophic and messy failure, or will it likely just get noisier and noisier until it stops working one day?
  13. Also, I take it this isn't something that's likely to go away with an oil change and crossed fingers?
  14. Cheers Chris! What are my options at this point? It looks like I have a couple of gearbox specialists nearby, or should I simply be looking at the idea of just replacing the box entirely? Is this something that you're able to take on? Shame I don't live closer to you!
  15. Oh goodie, just what I like to hear! I've sent you an email Chris
  16. It's been a while since I posted, but hopefully someone can help. I've had a bit of a whine in 2nd for many years. However tonight I noticed it a little in 6th too. After doing some dicking around, I concluded: 1) It happens in even gears only 2) It's got a *lot* worse in 2nd - getting up into high revs just sounds plain awful now This seems to have come on reasonably recently - only change in some time has been to replace the rubber boot around the gear lever (under the leather sack) Where should I look first? 'box oil level?
  17. Last night I noticed a couple of things off with the car, and was hoping for some advice. 1. When I lift off the throttle, it takes about another second before the throttle seems to close - so when I change gear it's as if I'm blipping the throttle between changes... but I'm not. It's actually done this noticeably on a previous journey earlier in the week, even when fully warm. 2. I also noticed on my boost gauge that at idle from cold I was only going down to about -0.5 bar. It was just a quick 10 minute collection from the station, so the car never really got warmed up, but it never dropped below about -0.65 - it's usually closer to -0.9 on idle and overrun. Could this be down to a sticky throttle in some way? A tired old spring maybe? Cheers anyone that can help
  18. Then he's mistaken. No such thing as a UK NA.
  19. Yes, I would definitely be interested in a set of fronts please.
  20. Cheers very much for that - I'll go and have a look when it's light!
  21. It's a bleed valve, not a full EBC - and I've already tried winding it back in so it's as if it wasn't there, and it still does it. The bleed valve has also been fitted 'as-in' for about 10 years now, nor have I changed anything for about 8 years, so I'm reasonably confident it's a fault/leak somewhere as opposed to a misconfiguration. The pics would be great - I can then get in there and check things out
  22. Yes, please do - it's something I can check then!
  23. I did search, but either I missed it or I was searching badly. I have a UK 95TT6 with 120k on the clock, and I'm having an intermittent problem with no.2 turbo. My mods are very light; full decat and a bleed valve, no more. I never have problems with no.1, and when no.2 engages I should see a spike up to 1.4bar before gently tailing off to about 1.2bar as revs increase. However, on occasion I will only spike to about 1bar, and boost will drop to about 0.7bar as revs increase. The car also does not feel as though it is accelerating as quickly. It does seem to be going through the 'transition' as boost drops off momentarily at the usual place, it's just a lottery as to whether no.2 will join the party. I find it very difficult to reliably reproduce - I have had 200 mile journeys with no problems, or 20 mile ones without no.2. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to start looking on this, as I'm also concerned about doing damage to no.1? Thanks in advance for any help.
