  1. Car not been used for some time and have got it back on the road, MOTd etc but it won’t boost properly / barely anything. Did the temporary TTC mod and boost will build to about 1bar and then slowly drop off at WOT. I then found back in normal seq mode if I pump the throttle 4 or 5 times I can get both turbos on line and again keeping the pedal to the floor, the boost then drops away. But then have to do this every time as there is no stored pressure in the system, so clearly a leak. I think that this proves the vsvs and actuators are working ok (and turbos) but the problem seems to be the pressure tank and/or pressure tank hoses. Is there anything else it could be? I’m minded to replace the pressure tank and hoses as they are now 25 years old. Does anyone have experience of the tank failing or buying a replacement? Thanks Jon
  2. Hi. Getting supra back on the road after a few years of not really using it, so a few things in the process of getting sorted out. Recently had new toyota rear discs and pads (UK spec) fitted and the car is making a horrible squeal in reverse only. Garage suggest I need anti squeal shims but don't think ever needed those before. Anyone else had this and / or any ideas? Thanks Jon
  3. Cheers. Have tested operation of the iacv and egcv actuators today revving from inside the engine bay. Both operate but are a bit slow to respond. I wonder if they are a bit 'sticky' leading to one opening before the other and me losing boost on kickdown and then the iacv staying open longer meaning iv i boot it again T1 boost is disappearing down T2 intake momentarily. From low revs T1 builds boost to 0.7bar and then you get the transition and then 1.1 bar. It's on kickdown I have the issue... Think I can hear a bit of a boost leak too so def need to replace all the hoses.
  4. Update. Have fitted new iacv and egcv vsv's and replaced the associated 4mm hoses with new reinforced gates style rubber tubing. Whilst better, it's still not operating correctly. Next to replace all the hoses. Hoping it's not pressure tank failed. I removed the vacuum pipe to the iacv vsv 10 mins after stopping and got a woosh of air so the system is holding pressure.
  5. Good idea, but just snapped a bloody nipples off the iacv vsv. Bastard. Also just been out and 2 hours after driving in ttc mode the iacv and egcv actuators are not pressurised. How long should the system hold pressure in ttc? When I stopped on a run and checked they were both at full extension.
  6. Have searched on all sorts and read all the guides to the sequential system but still can't quite fathom my problem. Haven't been using the car much the last 2 years due to work requiring a company car and it's developed an intermittent problem with losing boost when T2 should come on line. Logic says this is the EGCV or the VSV. Yesterday I went out and whilst it was still doing this, sometimes it worked fine and sometimes needed to lift off and then plant right foot again and it would work. But I then noticed that if this still didn't work, when I then went to boost, T1 was struggling. My thought is I have 2 issues 1. Problem with EGCV preventing T2 working and the boost from T1 disappearing 2. Problem with the IACV staying open and thus T1 not being able to produce boost as the air is travelling through a non spinning T2. Have done the temporary TTC mod and after pressurising the system I was getting boost from around 3k and full 1 bar at 4k. After reading loads of posts and guides I'm looking to test the vsv's but don't quite understand what I've read to do this. How do I power the vsv to see if it opens? Any help or advice greatly received:-) Cheers
  7. When replacing the stock turbos with stock, should I replace the oil feed pipes? Thanks Jon
  8. have ordered gasket kit, but can anyone shed any light on whether I need to replace the oil feed pipes? parts 15481-46020 and 15482-46011 thanks
  9. Hi - am getting turbo's refurb'd after a failure in the first turbo and apparently it was due to contamination of the oil in the oil feed pipe. I've been told I should get a new pipe before fitting them Does anyone know the part number(s) I need so I can order from Toyota Also - do I need new gaskets or anything else when refitting the turbos? Many thanks Jon

    Turbos

These still available? How many miles do they have on them? Any signs of smoke etc before removed? thanks
  11. Thanks - think it's a trip to the garage...
  12. Thanks - think it's a trip to the garage...
  13. Hmmm thanks for prompt reply. Will ring original garage tomorrow and see if they'll offer any goodwill. Warranty covered 6000 miles and I've done 7800 less than a year too!! cheers
  14. Thanks for info Chris - is it possible to remove the front turbo on my drive with 'relative' ease to investigate? Nice vid James - mines smoking about the same as the final seconds in your vid!! and that's just on idle...
  15. No misfires and engine runs perfectly. Did sniffer test and no issues there. The smoke is blueish and smells of oil, so pretty confident its not HG.
  16. OK - started car on Saturday and had loads of white/blue smoke from the exhaust (seriously loads!!!) At idle and low revs I had the turbos fully refurb'd last year and this has happened all of a sudden. RAC man thought it has popped a turbo seal and dripping oil into the exhaust. Did various tests on the engine and he thought the motor was OK. As an aside I've had a few times where the second turbo has failed to kick in, but off throttle, then back on and it goes OK... Any suggestions of somethings I can check before I embark on a potentially expensive fault finding mission down the local garage? thanks Jon
  17. Round them up and burn them for fuel for the old folks - a sensible policy for a better Britain!!!
  18. 01) Pixelfill (If I'm available I'll be in) 02) Tooley 03) Neil-NA (aslong as enough notice is given) 04) Rob Wild 05) Animal & Lucy (depending on date) 06) M5W TT & Amanda (depending on date) 07) jake supra 08) Tom S (date dependent) 09) jaymdee (if I'm about that weekend)
  19. you sir, are a star- much obliged:D title changed - no more face palm for me, lol
  20. LOL - should say Turbo in the title!!!
  21. This is one for the current & ex MR2 owners. The decat on my Rev3 has started blowing due to a split on one of the welds. Looking for a new one. Thought this may be OK, but a bit confused as it says its not suitable for Rev 3 without mods http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toyota-MR2-3SGTE-Turbo-Stainless-Steel-Decat-cat-/180694624223?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a123d27df#ht_1437wt_1002 Or perhaps this one? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-MR2-TURBO-CELICA-ST205-DECAT-CAT-DOWNPIPE-/310228623628?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item483b11210c#ht_657wt_905 Have spoken to the guy at GTS-Chris who said you can't get them for a Rev3 anymore and my only option was to get mine welded up. Anyone shed anymore light as to whether I can buy one of these above and if so, what mods need to be done? cheers Jon
  22. Yep - that's it!! How long yours been like that? has your PAS knackered recently?
  23. Well drove it and the steering works fine but pump a bit noisy. Will see if it gets louder, but I think it's going to be a new pump
  24. Power steering went a few weeks ago with a leaky hard pipe off the rack. Had to get car home about 400 yards, a few corners and onto my drive. Have replaced the pipe thanks keron) and flushed the system with a few litres of Dex III, as per the guide on here (it leaked everywhere, lol). Bled system - no air bubbles and level not dropping At idle the pump has a very quiet noise, but audible, but when turning the wheel a very audible grating/whining noise is heard, which continues until load is taken off the steering wheel. Is the pump (or god forbid, rack) knackered, or should I drive it tomorrow and see if it settles down? cheers
  25. Right near the 590 as in the town centre by the traffic lights on the dual carriageway Hopefully will get it sorted tomorrow:)
