Yes it is difficult and it is not unusual for people to hire a solicitor to do all the work for you. It will be expensive though and could ultimately be pointless if unsuccessful. See if you can find a specialist solicitor to give you some advice for free as an initial consultation, you will probably have to end up using one anyway.

I have experience of this and your American friend will need to have exceptional abilty and qualifications for a specific job in mind. It's not enough to just have any old job waiting for them, nor is it enough for them to come here and look around for work. The home office are very strict on all this, and they WILL deport someone working here illegally or soliciting themselves for a job. Your best advice is to read up on the government website for the details of how to apply for a UK work permit.

I bet there are plenty people here who have nobbed a girl under 16 when they were 17 or 18. OK who is first to admit it

When I took my driving test, all those years ago, they said you have to thread the wheel through your hands as you turn. Then you watch Top Gear and see how pro drivers drive etc and it's different, as I was instructed last weekend on a rally driving course, and you hold on at the 'quarter to three' position even when getting your arms all twisted when going round a tight bend. So how do we drive our Supras?
