    txt spk

I don't like txt spk as a rule and I think the majority of people on this board would agree. True it does creep into a few things I write, I think I get away with a bit here and there, but thankfully 99.9% of what I write is in proper English. I saw this article and, I am ashamed to say, I agree with the Daily Mail here. Now that's a first. What I don't understand is, with most mobile phones having predictive text, what is the point? Surely it's easier to write a word properly, even if it's misspelt, than to use brain energy into twisting simple words into bizzare combinations of characters and numbers? Answers in English please.
  2. Subscribed, I have this problem too, regassed it just last Sept and now I need to use it it's not blowing cold air
  3. On the elevated bit after all the speed cameras inside the M25, about 3pm ish this Sat pm
  4. There is a strange continuous rubbing sound coming from the front of the car, and I can feel it vaguely through the steering wheel. The car has recently had the original 17" stock wheels put back on, and the noise appeared about 50 miles afterwards. Could this be the bearings, or have the wheels not been put on properly, or something else perhaps? The sound only appears over 20-30mph and usually when driving in a straight line rather than when turning.
  5. Try the M6 toll for the same reasons
  6. Best roads in Europe A41 out of London is pretty good
  7. After having spent a lot of time filling up cracks and holes in the walls around my office, and then filling them up again when he ate his way through, the squirrel has finally met his demise. He was found a few minutes ago downstairs in the garage, someone had run him over with a wheelie bin. So now I have a very poorly squirrel, and I don't think he will make it. So I am sat here waiting for the rspca to arrive and send him to squirrel heaven.

    oh yes

Drogba is a complete c0ck. I hope he gets banned for being such a bell end. John Terry too. In fact all of em. VERY GLAD THEY GOT BEAT HAHAHA
  9. I know what you mean, games in the lower leagues are MUCH more atmospheric than the prem. Fans have more passion, they can stand (WOO HOO :d:d) and the banter/singing is miles better. But there's the rub - you have to go to the games to get this, and being 200+ miles away I can't do that. So I will miss watching MOTD with my team on, the radio/newspaper reports will be all the more smaller and less significant.
  10. If Prem footy is so crap then why do all the international players play there, why are all teams aspire to be there (including Luton), and furthermore why do all the best teams play there? As a 35 year supporter a team that has played in the first 3 divisions, and is about to be relegated this season (Middlesbrough) I'd choose a 'dull season in a pile of mediocrity' any time over the poor quality of football seen in the lower divisions. As for fans of the 'big 4' teams, you know nothing about football. I say this because you don't know what it's like to be anything but a top 4 team - it's like a being a trustafarian, having it all on a plate and knowing nothing about 'real life'. Also the supporters of the 'big 4' teams in the fantasy football league are all near the bottom when compared to other prem teams. Why is that? Again, it's cos they know nowt about football. One more thing, the title of this thread is a case in point. Arsenal are not crap, they are 4th in the Prem, and have just reached the semi-finals of the champions league. Some people need to get a grip of reality.
  11. Is it a photoshop? No imprint of the drivers head or body on the drivers seat - just splatter!
  12. After all that has been said about the place, which you appear to have acknowledged, why are you even bothering to be 'looking at' anything they have at all?
  13. The book - and this thread - is old enough for you to have read it by now. Here is another one for you: eating carrots won't help you see in the dark
  14. I'm just over half way through this book now and I wish I had the time to get through it quicker, but I am reading slowly so I make sure I understand it all properly. It's well written and entertaining, and I am impressed by Goldacre's diligence and clarity. It's hard to criticise what he has written, and for all his efforts it seems like little will change. People will still buy into what they're told down the pub or what they read in the papers, and there will always be those who want propagate misinformation to take advantage of others. Many people don't care about so many things, not just their health, and they don't have the time nor the means to investigate everything for themselves, especially when there is no definitive answer to be had. We're only human, not intelligent well-educated people like him - no wonder we think vitamin C will prevent a cold, or omega 3 will make our kids brainy.* *for those of you who didn't know, both of these statements are UNTRUE.
  15. This lunchtime Mon 4 May, I could see what looked like strolling at a leisurely pace on the inside lane from the opposite carriageway
  16. It happened to me recently too. They will probably fix them to their own car so they can get away with stealing petrol or something like that. It's a PITA but when you fix new ones make sure you use the special bolts that make the plates unremovable.
  17. I hope they repeat that performance against Chelsea
  18. ...but they take kindly to posts made in txt spk

    Paypal survey

Paypal is a bitch when it goes wrong or if there is a dispute, but the same could be said when similar things happen with other methods of payment. Otherwise it is quick and easy. TIP: If you make a paypal payment and click the tab to say it is personal and a debt owed to a friend then there are no fees payable by either party and the 3% charge is avoided.
  20. I had meant BUMP start. I thought perhaps you could start rolling down the street in N and quickly put it in D. Don't worry I would never seriously try that, it just doesn't seem right somehow! I have jump started it once a few years back, with no probs AFAIK.
  21. As an aside, is it possible to jump start an auto?
  22. Make sure it's locked(!) and empty of contents, parked under a light near the exit and among other cars if possible. Check tyre pressures upon return. Probably a few other things I am sure other people will point out.
  23. Like Homer said look up Speedwells on this site and ask for Ibrar but you will have to arrange for wheels to be sent to him in Birmingham. There are plenty courier firms that can do this for you but will add another 30 odd pound to your price.
