  1. So they can advertise it on ebay and just pay the ebay fees on $20 and not $1299

    Find me an SUV

Some great info here gents, thanks. At the moment it's the Honda CRV 2.2 diesel that tops the list, but we will see...
  3. The only one of that list I've eaten from in the past 20 years is Subway, which is OK by me in so far as fast food is concerned in that you actually see what's going into what you're going to eat and you see it being made right in front of you. I refuse to give my money to McDonalds & Starbucks etc because I disagree with their business practices, especially McDonald and they way they covet children so much
  4. Seriously? Car dealers are probably bottom of the list when it comes to trustworthiness. Always have been, always will be. EDIT sorry put politicians below them

Possibly; I always thought SUVs were a bit of a con in that they were just estate cars propped up on a high chassis.

That's what I don't understand - figures for the CRV diesel say 138bhp and 10.3 secs for 0-60. How can that match a Supra? I know quoted figures can vary somewhat from real life (especially mpg) but when comparing so many cars that's all there is to go on unless I spend ages travelling around the country doing test drives. Actually Rob I might take you up on that, I'm not too far from you at all.

The Fuhrer says I can't have a Porsche even though she knows I have always wanted one Lexus is cool but auto only I think?

Nice try! A quick look online shows the boot seems very small, much smaller than the estate car we currently have. I'll never get our family & camping equipment etc in that

I think I'm a bit old-fashioned in thinking that diesels just aren't as quick as petrol. I'm sure to be proved wrong, but I just don't know anything about them.

Certainly not the porsche, budget is only 8k Mazda engine is petrol 2.3 turbo Honda is possible but just 2.0 with no turbo, doubt that is enough for such a large car

Not sure if they have enough oomph.. at the moment top of the list is Mazda CX-7
  12. Still keeping the Supra of course, but my family has outgrown the Astra Estate so now we are looking for a medium size SUV which will carry the kids and all our stuff. List of things required, no flexibility on these: - manual - petrol not diesel (unless it has proper decent performance) - 2.0 or bigger engine ideally with turbo - max £8k OK let's see what you all come up with

    Tyres

Just got some 315/30/18 Michelin Pilots from mytyres.co.uk, I couldn't find anyone else with that size
  14. Yes yes and yes; but we're not on a level playing field. Their wages are piss poor because their government treats its citizens worse than animals. Remember Tiananmen Square - it's the same government that's in charge now as was then. I want to buy British stuff, but I can't cos the market is flooded with cheap Chinese stuff of dubious quality or bootleg illegal copies.
  15. Lots more to come if our government has it's way.
  16. Curious as to why you put Coventry on that list. I lived there for 3 years, it has no redeeming features whatsoever. I also lived in London for 20, it has plenty.
  17. London isn't that bad. In fact was there today for the day, just got back. I had several encounters with people for various reasons, as you do; shops, traffic, parking etc, and each time everyone was courteous and polite. Even the bloke who I almost bumped into in the car. For the record, I'm white, and all the people I referred to just now were not. It's ironic that some of us quite rightly disagree with racial stereotyping, yet are happy to stereotype a city in which they've probably never lived and rarely visit.
  18. ... so you'd still have £20,000 left. Isn't that enough to live on until you get connected or buy a dongle?
  19. Thanks Thorin I just bought one from him. Of course, what with it being for the missus, it ended up going way over budget
  20. Since the 90s I've bought a new one from Dell every 2-3 years from Dell but their current set up is a nightmare, appalling customer service and when I check on Trustpilot all I see is 1 star reviews right to the bottom of the page... they have gone downhill massively in recent years so they're done for as far as I'm concerned. So where do I get a new PC from? I need one for my missus' photography business, so it has to be good for handling RAW image files and Photoshop, and video too ideally. No monitor needed. Budget £500 or thereabouts. I liked Dell's bespoke build but ui can't see anything similar online. Pointers welcome thanks!
