  1. That's all very well but crap code is crap code and it's here to stay. Unless every programmer now and in the future is 100% perfect at their job, which they aren't and never will be, then there will be crap code. The issue is how to deal with it. The people who host the server advised me to turn off auto Windows updates. But by default they leave it switched on, so we aren't to know there could be a problem until it happens. Duh!!!
  2. Another one. Lazy dirty b4stards who empty their ashtrays/orange peel/mcdonalds packaging out of their window onto the road. Rule is simple - if you wouldn't chuck it on your lawn, don't chuck in on the road. So that includes banana skins and apple cores!
  3. Another one. Driving in a 2 lane carriageway where the inside lane is a buslane clearly marked as being operational ONLY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7am AND 10am. So why don't people drive in it the rest of the day, instead of clogging themselves up nose to tail??? Actually it's not that bad, I'm quite happy to drive it in all on my own right to the front of the queue.
  4. Just seeing now what the latest backup we have is, even then it will take days to config and move to a new server
  5. I am fooking livid right now, windows automatic update has broken my server now it won't reboot. Which means no website. Which means no sales until fixed. Which has cost me a few thousand quid. Thanks Mr Gates and your shitty Microsoft automatic update system which I will SWITCH OFF when back up and running in about a weeks time. Thank you for listening.
  6. Nothing came of it because it is unable to measure your speed when you are travelling towards it [FACT]. Unlike a Truvelo camera which is the opposite. So long as you know the difference you have nothing to fear (unless the police are following you)
  7. How can you risk something that you know is impossible?
  8. Now I do 400 miles a week commuting I see more than my fair share of bad driving and it is starting to get to me so I need to get things off my chest. Today on 5 or 6 occasions I shouted out loud at the numbskull drivers around me because my tolerance levels of the imbeciles on the road are at an all time low. Here are just a few of my gripes (not in any particular order). Feel free to add to the list: 1 - middle lane drivers pootling along in their little dreamy bubble world oblivious to the huge long line in the outside lane behind them queuing up to get past 2 - tailgaters WHY WHY WHY do they do this??? /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_angry.gif /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_angry.gif /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_angry.gif 3 - cars that turn right (without indicating) then left (without indicating) then right (without indicating) then overtake (without indicating) then pull over (without indicating).... etc 4 - slowing down for a gatso speed camera when the camera is facing towards them 5 - not waving/flashing when I have been generous by stopping and and letting them in/get past 6 - full headlights on during daylight. Why?

    Pirelli Tyres

Don't Porsche run their cars on PZeros? If so they can't be that bad.
  10. Nice one chaps, first Feb 8 for a LONG time that hasn't been cold, wet and miserable, as such had a day off work with the kids, which is actually harder work than work itself, as anyone with young toddlers knows!
  11. I have driven loads and loads of cars over the years but now I come to think of a good one pretty much all of them have been shitters! I wasn't too impressed with the porsche 996 turbo I went in on a track day (turbo? what turbo?!) and the Ford Focus rally car was fun so I'm embarrassed to say it was probably my mum's MG Metro Turbo back in 1985 - I was 17 and all my mates had Ford Escorts, Vauxhall Vivas and Minis; the little turbo on that thing blew em all away! Until the turbo went POP of course... happy days
  12. Started ok this evening and as it happens a new coilpack set was only installed a few months back while trying to sort out another problem so I'm hoping they're not failing already, so I will put it down to 'gremlins' unless it starts happening again. THX for the input guys Swampy I'm in Watlington so not too far from Wallingford
  13. Got in the car this morning started it up like normal and immediately knew something was up, the sound was all deep rumbling and loud chugging, just like a Scooby! Very strange, so I went up the road a bit, engine was cold so I didn't go too fast but the car did feel sluggish, so I came back, switched off and waited a bit thinking what's up. Then switched on again and all back to normal (thank god)! Apart from a Subaru ghost getting into my machine and then getting scared off again what could have happened there?!
  14. Yes I did read it, it doesn't mention anything about where the hydrogen comes from, just that a way has been found to use it as a petrol substitute. Am I missing something?
  15. Not gonna happen until there is a huge supply of cheap hydrogen. As pretty much all natural hydrogen is tied up in water and other substances, it will take more money/energy to extract it than will be got out of it. So it's NOT going to happen [FACT]
  16. Yes just after I posted I thought fuel cut cos the Thor had been unplugged following the AEM install Phew nothing bad then, but what was the bang all about?
  17. "Monsweens Exploding Cider" sounds great if you could market that you'd make a million!
  18. Bypassed the AEM this morning to see if it was the cause of a misfire, and went off to work. So far so good, no probs and all smooth and normal for my BPU Jspec auto. Then 20 mins later, give a bit of power, not a WOT but just opening up a bit , get to 4500rpm and turbo 2 gets going, reaching about 110 leptons and there's a loud BANG from the engine and the red triangle light comes on the dash. Power gets cut (that might be me coming off the throttle) and then all is back to normal. Boost guage reads 1.21 bar peak. I do the same again later, but this time all is ok, do it again and ok.... On the way home, a carbon copy of the above. Same bang, same rpm, same boost pressure, happened only the once... Any ideas people???? g.
  19. Nice one. Now which hops/beer to go for? Need for sterility understood, I studied microbiology at uni. Looking forward to this!!!
  20. A mate of mine brews his own lager at 40p a pint but I drink beer not lager, so I am thinking of having a go, it sounds much better than paying £1.50-£2.00 a bottle in the shops. So if there are any beer (IPA, real ale etc) home brewers here please make a recommendation to a complete novice THX PS ebay item would be nice as I have plenty spare paypal money
  21. Crazy sentence for a kid who probably has a distorted view of reality due to being impressionable to violent films, computer games and more likely violence in his home life. He needs educating and nurturing, not punishment of that type. As for those of you advocating the death penalty, how many of you have committed 'crimes' at that age, and got a telling off where had you been an adult you'd have been sent down for a stretch? Almost ALL of you I imagine.
  22. WTF? Millions of them happen every day. I have done one a week to the US for 20 years, no problems. Of course it's safe, unless you have sausage fingers and type in the wrong account number. Use the AMEX website. Cost is £10 not £25 like most banks.

    One-Eyed cars

Oi that was probably my mum! (yes she did just that!)

    One-Eyed cars

In the olden days it was very rare to see a car with just one headlight working. Now there are loads, all over the place. In fact I saw one this evening with NO headlights at all, just trundling along in the dark with just his hazards on I think these must be cars with no MOT, and therefore no tax, and therefore no insurance, and as such are responsible for the recent record rise in car insurance prices
