THE GOOD read this in OWNED section... THE BAD ditto! THE UGLY Saturday pm and me and my girl went outside to go to her parents in my Supe. Looking forward to it cos there is a nice drive there along dual carriageway that has no cameras... for the rest of that story see OWNED! Anyway as soon as we got outside her front gate I notice a shiny dark blue mini, almost brand new, with a deep sratch running along the side. Other than that it's immaculate, the owner must be gutted I thought. So I walk up the street, and the car parked next to it, a Renault, has the same. My Supra, which I have had for 2 months and is gleaming, is 4 cars further on... As expected, some fuckin wanker had had a go on it with his key - all over the bonnet, and down the side too. What a prick. Turns out there are 10 cars in the street, all keyed, and mine was done the worst! Totally uncool thing to do. I thought kids stopped doing things like that in the '80s. BASTARDS Had a go with T Cut but not much effect. Any advice to sort this out is very welcome! Car is a '97 TT gunmetal.

I second that, only been here a couple months myself

It's late in the day it's been a crap one doing boring VAT stuff for my business so I thought I would have a rant over something pedantic just ignore this if it's boring. Some things piss me off apart from speed cameras and speed bumps and now I have to vent some spleen at the non-use of red arrows at traffic lights! There are green ones, so why not red ones? How many times am I gonna have to beep the person in front cos they have stopped at a red light - totally oblivious to the fact that underneath is a green arrow signal. Why don't we have red arrow signals for them? I just don't get it. I have travelled a lot (over 30 countries last count) and I think every country has red traffic light arrows where necessary. Except us. OK rant over glad I got it off me chest. Until the next one. Cheers and thanks for reading.

I DJ and music is my biz BUT I doubt you'd like my sounds (I just do old stuff) what sort of music you want? PS that CD on my avatar is NOT my music taste, just an example of how the Japanese may be the best car manufacturers BUT when it comes to spelling...

Shit and there was me doing 100 in the rain just after I got it. Little did I know then that SUPRA + RAIN = ! I don't even think about going fast in the rain now after having heard some of these stories, esp after my back end gave way in the wet a few weeks back. I hope that day out learning to drive round corners actually happens. I wonder if they can wet the tarmac so you can try driving in the wet AND around corners?

How the hell did you do that?!?!?

That smash is rough, makes me shake thinking about it. And you only just got the car!!! You must be gutted!!! Such a shame I am so sorry. I only got mine 2 months ago and I would freak out if I so much as got a scratch. It does need a lot of respect, all that power and RWD etc. I reckon it will take about a year for me to get the hang of it, and even then there will always be something new to learn. I hope you get back on track soon mate.

It might be different for different states? I just remembered that some states with wide open spaces have NO speed limit eg Montana, Wyoming etc. Imagine those long, long empty roads surrounded by fields with big sky and no speed limit...

1300 in one day?! That is pretty impressive! I drive round the US a lot and the most I have ever managed is 800. That is at their ridiculous 65 speed limit though; if you think the enforcing of our speed limit is draconian, don't even think about going out there, they will pull you over for doing 68 in a 65 zone (seen it happen), and many limits are still at 55. One good thing about the US is that you don't collect penalty points. So if you get a speeding fine, you pay it, then you're off and that's it. I heard that the vice president of Microsoft has over 200 speeding fines already, he just pays them then zooms off, presumably in something faster than a Supra! Our lass said YES to a trip to Italy later in the year - with me driving us there, can't wait!

Anybody know of any ps2 games where you can race Supras? I've been playing Italian Job with my girlfriend and she's so hooked now she wants a Mini. I have to convince her that she's wrong and that she should really want a Supe

I just got a price of £855 from Norwich Union for my import Supe which is miles less than the £1000+ quotes from everyone else! According to their website only the following imported vehicles are not covered: BMW Alpina Hummer H1 Hummer H2 Isuzu Vehicross Nissan Skyline Nissan Figaro Renault Twingo Toyota Altezza Toyota Soarer

I have a 120mph limit on my '97 TT Supe - good news cos it hasn't been thrashed - bad news cos I am getting BMWs up my ass and I don't wanna pull over. Any recommendations for good mechanics in North London (or not far away) who can derestrict?

That's a nice looking motor! Where in London are you?

Hidden police car Dukes of Hazard style? This is from the PePiPoo site: 'ACPO Traffic Enforcement Guidelines are also not mentioned in the law, but they unambiguously state that traffic officers performing speed checks should do so from a position that is clearly visible to the public - take a look. "31.2 The operator must be clearly visible to the public and the target vehicle throughout the check." So, if you see a Traffic Officer hiding behind a bush or working from inside an unmarked transit van, why not stop and ask them if they realise that their conduct is breaching the ACPO guidelines - please don't forget to ask them for their name, number and the contact details of their Chief Constable so that you can write a letter of complaint about the officer's conduct.' If I go over 80mph I'm totally concentrating on 1) not crashing(!) and 2) keeping an eye out for plod. Our lass as you might expect usually wants to chat, but I'm too busy sorry honey

What are the ways of getting caught speeding on a motorway? Is it only if the police spot you and catch you with their radar or if they track you in their car? I drive sometimes on the M25 near the M40/M4 and there are those 1 metre partition marks on the road for cameras, same as M11, but even though I've gone over them many times at 100mph I have never been done, so why are they there? Do any motorways have cameras? I also drove 100mph from London to Teeside on the M1, no camera got me. It was Xmas morning so no police around Curious cos I have a few long motorway treks in the next few weeks

As some of you know I just picked up my Supra a couple of weeks back. The best thing I have ever bought in my life, love it! But as you might guess I'm finding it hard keeping to the limits. Very hard - 90mph feels like 60mph in a normal car, know what I mean? So it's easy to break the law, whatever the speed limit, whether you intend to or not. How long did it take for you to get stopped, or get some points after first getting your car? Also, has anyone tried Safeplate ?
-
Is this gonna happen? Did anyone volunteer to organise it and sort it out?
-
What are the chances of rolling as opposed to spinning?
-
I wonder if he would have overtaken you if you weren't driving a Supra... Is it me, or do people speed up when they're behind/in front of a Supra? I have only had mine a few weeks, but I've certainly noticed a reaction like this from other drivers.

Thanks for making me welcome everyone, spoiler or no spoiler! Dunno how much the spoiler affects handling or not, perhaps we'll find out at the 'Learn to Drive Your Supra Round Corners Day Out' and see if the non-spoiler cars skid off a lot more or not? I am really glad that day is being put together and that people are so enthusiastic and keen to improve their driving technique, the only alternative is to use the open road, and even then there's nobody to teach you or to compare against, let alone the legal/safety problems... This forum is the biz

Oh I thought GZ were the ones with leather interior... my bad. It's auto, not Tiptronic, I'm having fun learning to use the MANU and overdrive buttons. I actually get scared when in 2nd gear! It takes some getting used to. I really should get on a track somewhere to get to know it properly. Any recommendations for a total novice? I had a 2.0 Celica GT before, nice car but not a patch on this. It's gunmetal and I got it from a dealer in Manchester who had it imported late last year. It's the exact one I've been looking for for ages so I was well chuffed when it was offered for sale.

Not bothered...! I think everyone here loves the Supra they have and have made them their own by adding their own personal touch, visible (colour, bodykit etc) or invisible (under the bonnet etc), and having no spoiler is my choice, that's all! Not sure what if any modifications to go for next (if any). Does anyone have any ideas/recommendations for 'first upgrade' from a factory spec model? I doubt I will get round to doing any for a while, after all I've only just got the thing, but it would be good to know!
