    200mph on A1

No way was that mph, did you see how quick the speedo climbed from 180 to 200?
  2. I think yours must be the most spotted of all Supras?!
  3. Is that the one that's ALWAYS parked there?
  4. I have stock wheels on my soop and wish I had the $$$ to get some good uns BUT I do feel the need (and have the $$$) to get grippy tyres. I have had too many nervy moments recently with roundabouts and wet/muddy conditions! And being nervous is NOT how I want to be when I'm driving my dream car. So with the next 6 months (and the rest) gonna be wet I think new tyres may be a good investment. SO any recommendations anyone???
  5. Is there a beginners guide to the performance & handling differences of different size wheels/tyres?
  6. I did a surprise 90º spin coming off a roundabout the other day. As it was dark I couldn't see that the road was covered in mud cos the twats making T5 at Heathrow hadn't cleaned their wheels properly after coming off site. That's illegal isn't it? If I'd crashed would I be able to put the blame on them?
  7. Thanks Geoff that'll be it! Curiosity assuaged. It is a very reassuring and good feeling when you're travelling that fast to hear the engine just go into 'amble' mode as if you're just idling along or something
  8. It's not in 3rd when I'm over a 100, I would certainly know about that. What speed would I expect 3rd gear to redline at anyway if accelerating steadily? It's like at 110-120ish, suddenly the revs dip as if I moved up a gear.
  9. This might be a dumb question, but the auto gearbox is 4 gears, right? So why is it, when cruising over 100mph, the revs go down and there appears to be a change up from 4th to like a 5th gear? Or am I just wrong?

    Germany

Watch out for debadged beemers? I will be watching out for everything and anything at the speed I'll be travelling Did anyone see Clarkson last night when he got his ass whipped by that German bird on the Nuremburg ring? Wouldn't mind a go of that (the track that is)

    Germany

I'm crossing my fingers there will be no snow or ice. I was in the Lake District last weekend, very wet & slippy so the automatic 'SNOW' traction control came on, what a joke that thing is! PLEASE let it be dry on the way to Dusseldorf in 2 weeks time!
  12. I got one recently and had to send it back cos the radio frequency interferred with the car alarm! As soon as I went near the car with it the alarm went off... weird eh

    S**t

If they get you deny you were driving and that it was someone else taking your car for a test drive cos you were trying to sell it? Of course they did not buy it, and you have no idea who they were and where they live...
  14. I ALWAYS stop at an amber light. That way you're always first of the mark, foot the floor and an open road in front! Sorry no help I know, best of luck with it all!
  15. Did Clarkson ever have a Supra on his TV show?

    Germany

Oh yes I am off to Germany in a few weeks and I'm taking the car! There will be plenty of BMW ownership to be had I hope:devil: . Is it true that the autobahns are limit-free? Or is there a sign that says 'no speed limit' or do I just assume that if there are no signs to the contrary? I just hope it won't be snowing....
  17. I'm up for a track day, never done one before. What's the best one near London anybody? Learning how to use a car like the Supra is essential. I have driven all kinds of 'normal' cars for nearly 20 years and it is nothing like any of them. It's the power/rwd/handling combination that is most intriguing (and potentially dangerous!) and one that I'd love to really get the hang of, esp in an auto where you don't have clutch control/easy change-downs etc. It is a shame that 'Learn to drive your Supe' round corners' day out never happened. There were LOADS of people interested in that, which tells me I am not the only one who thinks the above.
  18. Would have liked a manual but not for the extra £4k or thereabouts that it would have cost. Still, totally happy with the auto, this thing is fast and there's never been a point yet where I wish it could go faster!
  19. With over 2200 views this looks like a lot of people are waiting on this one, but IS it gonna happen? Come on let's sort it out!

    Lasered?

Driving down a straight, clear road, no traffic this morning on the way to work. I'm doing doing 35 - 40 in a 30 zone and probably would have done more but it was very sunny and going east means the sun is in my eyes so everything is bright and visibility not too good. In fact it is so bright I don't even notice 2 policemen in dayglo green by the side of the road - with a laser gun pointing - until I am right on top of them! So I slow down a bit and carry on, this time at 30mph... So the question is, can I expect something in the post over the next few days, OR if they had got me, would they have chased after me to pull me over?
  21. My sister did this for years while commuting 100 miles a day to work and back, meaning that when she came to sell her car it appeared to have done 50,000 miles less than it should have! VERY NAUGHTY
  22. What are the main differences anyway? Can someone list them please?

    got a supra!

I noticed this too from the very first day I got mine. Everyone wants to have a go from 1.0 Micras and up. I am starting to understand why this board seems to have a vendetta against BMWs though, they do tend to be the pushy ones. You get used to it tho, it is flattering in a way and you soon start to choose who you can be bothered to 'play' with and no shame if you can't be arsed. After all, in a Supra you could have (almost) anyone IF you wanted to, right?
  24. Thanks everyone for such a quick & solid show of support! The strange thing is that I live in Camden, the car lives outside on the street, and my street is the kind of place where 4 doors down there was a police raid a few weeks back (it was a crack den) and crack is openly taken in people's doorways (including mine). Not the nicest place to live, but I am moving soon, and the upshot is that I have never had a problem with my car being parked there. It actually happened at my girlfriends, who lives in quiet road in quite a good area of Staines! I reported it to the police but they said right away that without a witness it's unlikely that anything would happen ie just another crime statistic to be filed away. Meanwhile the little shit will be bragging to his mates and planning his session of vandalism
