  1. Also if someone knowingly sells something cheap to make a quick sale, it could cause all kinds of problems for those in future who want to sell the same item at the 'correct' price.

    Smash

Even T Cut couldn't sort this mess out. Actually I had a very similar situation driving in snow in the US a few years ago. Lucky for me there wasn't a truck coming towards me, nor anything on my inside lane and I managed to regain control. Not that we have snow at the moment, but when we do take great care when driving in the ruts of the vehicles in front not to veer off course for even a moment.
  3. [COOL][/COOL] Is that what they need, a scan of the dials? I have a spare set lying around somewhere, I will have a look.

    Justice?

Watching Road Wars last night again and sometimes I just don't understand how sentencing works: Take last nights episode; a gang of young lads rip about 100 (yes 100!) badges of all the cars in a car park, VW, Audi, BM, Toyota etc etc causing thousands upon thousand of pounds of damage and no doubt pissing a LOT of people off. They get let off with a police caution. Then a bloke in the US drives his SUV through a door to get into a shopping centre. He drives through the shopping centre, not causing any damage, then drives through a door to get out again. He hits a policeman who arrests him. He gets 10 years!!! Two extremes, and it's usually the US that is way too hard, and the UK that is way too soft.
  7. Waste of time and money if not working right yes (like with me too) but there are surely people out there who are happy with theirs? As for the OP, upgraded engine power needs upgraded suspension, brakes, tyres, rltc etc as well, unless it's been done already of course

    Dilemma

Update - I've got the ombudsman on the case. But that's not the end, they can only help out if it's the bank that's at fault, which is debateable because they may argue they were instructed to pay the money into an account, which they did. What safeguards are in place to make sure it's the correct account, and if they are accountable if it's the wrong account, is up to the ombudsman to decide. It can take up to 8 weeks for the bank to reply, so time drags on...

    Dilemma

Thanks everyone for your replies, I don't think I should be asking for my mate to pay any more, he has done what was asked of him. I just need to get onto the ombudsman, possibly a solicitor, one of the links above provided this info re the Section 24A Theft Act (thanks for that) which could come in useful: [F2124A Dishonestly retaining a wrongful credit. (1)A person is guilty of an offence if— (a)a wrongful credit has been made to an account kept by him or in respect of which he has any right or interest; (b)he knows or believes that the credit is wrongful; and ©he dishonestly fails to take such steps as are reasonable in the circumstances to secure that the credit is cancelled. (2)References to a credit are to a credit of an amount of money.

    Dilemma

Yeh I agree that someone has got MY money and it does not belong to them so there must be something unlawful in that. I have to take it further, but how? It's taken me 6 months harrassing the banks to get this far (my bank Santander, payers bank Bank of Scotland) but they say there's nothing they can do.

    Dilemma

Yeh I'm the idiot and some random chancer's spunking £1500 of my hard earned. I'm quite shocked to realise that 1) the account name does not have to match the number and 2) that bank account numbers can just have one digit difference. Credit cards can't for example. On another note, did you know that banks don't check signatures on cheques for less than £10000? I learned this the hard way a few years ago!!!

    Dilemma

OK here's something that brings up a black cloud over my head every time I think of it and now I'm stuck. Last June my mate asked me to lend him £1500. He is a good mate, known him for years, so no problem. So I lend it him, and 2 months later he pays it back in full, as agreed. Problem is, the money doesn't appear in my account. It doesn't take long to find out why - I checked the email I sent him and it turns out I wrote down the wrong bank account number, it was wrong by one digit. My fault My bank say that someone else has recieved the money and there is nothing they can do about it. All they can do is pass on a letter from me asking them to return the money. Which I have, and surprise surprise, no reply. Oh and banks being banks, it's taken 6 months to get this far. So I'm £1500 down, all because I did a mate a favour, and because of my stupidity in giving the wrong number. So the dilemma is - seeing as it was my error, but it was a favour to him, do I ask him to pay a) any of it b) some of it c) none of it? Thoughts please folks, and in the unlikely event it was someone here who has my £1500, please do the right thing.
  15. I don't know if this was the A11 or A14, somewhere around Cambridge or Newmarket perhaps, I don't know this area but it was somewhere around there, and it was nice to see a P reg car very similar to mine but whoever you are you were pootling along very slowly for such a nice car on such an open road
  16. I'm such a div I sold some records on ebay and the buyer didn't wait for my invoice, so he sent me the wrong amount. So I refunded him and told him the correct amount. I waited and waited for his payment, then asked him what's up. He said he hadn't received the refund. I checked and he was right. I'd clicked on the buyer above him in the list and refunded them by mistake. To the tune of £150. Will he own up and do the right thing? Well this was 2 weeks ago and... nothing
  17. If Joe Bloggs or Tom Smith were in the dock they'd be sent down. Redknapp and Mandaric can afford the best lawyers money can buy. Joe and Tom can't.
  18. So not so much a rip off as you get what you pay for then... £1500 I don't think I will bother!
  19. Thanks for the link but there are many others just like this, all claiming to be the best, and none of them putting their prices online. Why don't they show their prices? I'm always suspicious of companies that have something to hide.
  20. Nice but they'll turn green in no time
  21. WOW my boy would flip if he went to see that
  22. Ha I must say I wasn't expecting this thread to turn out anything like this! Did anyone actually click the link?!?!
