Not at all, what I am saying is that the news can easily distort the truth, and hence public opinion, by reporting as news a one-off or an anomaly that people then believe is gospel and happens all the time.
For instance, a plane crashes, leading to many deaths. As a result, some people become petrified and refuse to travel by plane. Despite the fact that compared to bikes/cars/trains etc it's the safest mode of transport!
So you will have seen somewhere that some prisoners were released early or whatever, national scandal etc etc, and therefore assume that the same will happen to the terrorists that were locked up today. Which isn't necessarily gonna happen, unless you're either a cynic, or gullible - which one are you?!
