for sale 1993, 6 speed manual TT, 72,000 miles

Ha ha must admit - in hindsight, perhaps I over estimated how slow the market was at the moment! But its one less thing I now have to deal with. Now just leaves the whole packing life up and moving thing!! -
for sale 1993, 6 speed manual TT, 72,000 miles

I appreciate the price comments. It's priced to sell (I've a million and one things to do as it is), this is one less thing to worry about. Jevansio - nope, no single kit. Just wasn't getting the use from the car to justify it! Krister, you have a PM. -
Hi all, Due to a transfer at work, I'm moving to London at the end of the month and I'm looking for a quick sale on my Supra. I do very limited miles now (8,000 in the last two years) and I'll probably do even less in London. Car is a 1993, K Reg in red with 72,000 miles on the clock (116,000 kms). I have the certificate from auction showing 100,000 kms, which was two months prior to when I bought it and the car still reads in km's. Supra is a nice, pretty much standard, 6 speed manual. MOT was in October, where I put two brand new tyres on the back and the tax runs out at the end of March. Modifications: - Aftermarket cat back exhaust (not sure what make, but not too loud) - Strut brace - Blitz dumpvalve with hardpipe adapter - later spec 17 inch wheels - later spec grey back lights (from what I've been told) - Toyota double-din cd headunit with TV function (DVD player under the seat but don't know how this works!) - Thatcham approved alarm / immobiliser - Toyota recaro seats - Toyota half yellow, half carbon fibre effect steering wheel Good bits: - Mechanically solid - Turbo's pull hard with no smoke! - No smokey valve stems that can be a problem - Toyota half yellow, half carbon fibre effect steering wheel (depends on taste ) - New rear tyres - Mot till October - New clutch c8,000 miles ago Bad bits: - Front active spoiler intermittently works - Air deflectors around the windows are cracked - could be removed or replaced - Its red, so has the odd pink bit on some of the plastics - Right side upright support of the drivers seat is worn - Toyota half yellow, half carbon fibre effect steering wheel (depends on taste ) Basically, an honest 1993, Jspec, 6 speed Supra TT. Looking for £SOLD as tax is due at the end of the month Car will be going on ebay as well shortly

Is There Anybody Here Who Hasn't Stuffed Their Supe?
Steven Cordiner replied to Chewie's topic in Supra Chat
I recon its not the car, it's is the RWD thing. The first time anyone gets into a high performance rwd car from a fwd or 4wd car it is such a shock. The MR2 forum has the same discussions haha ... who has spun their car etc? Only span my old one once and that was when running in TOTB 3 My supra RZ TT in standard form slides very progressively, much much less grip at the back end though compared to an MR2 turbo and the standard traction control is AWFUL quite frankly. I'd strongly recommend an airfield track day to anybody new to rwd to enable them to get a feel for what happens at the limit of traction. Great fun as well!! -
500hp supra versus 500hp M5 ... providing the supra has some form of traction control (other than the awful standard system) my money's on the supra any day of the week! Physics .. M5 weighs About 1850kgs, Supra weighs about 1600kgs. Torque = acceleration, HP = top speed (in the simplest of forms) Torque, standard M5 384lbs, standard supra 315lbs (500hp one should have much more than this). So, supra has same HP, weighs less and has more torque.

Apologies, having re read my post it was not quite clear. My comment was with reference to somewhat generic chips like a superchip and piggy back units that offer rather crude tuning. I agree with you when any of these tuning tools are set up with appropriate equipment by a professional, they are great. However generic controllers that do not fully replace the ECU and which are easy to install have potential risks associated with them when not tuned by a professional - because often they are not! E.g. if you use an SAFC to lean out an MR2, the adverse affect is the car will advance it's ignition timing due to believing it is running less boost. So even if someone believed they were being responsible using a wideband on the road to make fine adjustments, they are unaware of the number of variables affected.

My personal view is I don't like chips or piggy back units. The Toyota ECU's generally have vast amounts of code and surprising little features that a crude 3rd party manufacturer are likely to be blissfully unaware of. So if you tamper with a couple of signals such a MAP sensor load you may not actually know what else is being frigged about with within the ECU in terms of knock and ignition timing. Something like a Mines ECU, Techtom product isn't too bad as they've usually had to study the ECU, decifer the code and actually know what is really going on.

I took one of the 225ps ones for a spin. I thought it was a nice car. Well spec'd interior, quite nice handling, decent space inside. Any car that has a digital speedo, 10k rpm counter, rear wheel drive with LSD and over 220hp is pretty cool in my book. Just make sure the front splitter gets colour coded, makes the car look much lower and gives it a better stance. Thirsty though!

Lol ... will think about it

Hi guys, I've recently got a Jspec TT which has a 320 kmh speedo on it. I want to derestrict and convert the car to mph and had planned to use Thor's gismo for this. However, I don't really want a speedo that reads to 320mph What's my options? Is the simple solution to just change the dials and derestrict rather than doing a conversion? Thanks Steve

Quick question, when you go to a FMIC setup, can the active front spoiler be retained or does that have to be removed?

Great read

Hi Michael, Had seen the link to the US site, but I wasn't member. Hadn't seen the other one though. Interesting read. Bit puzzled at how having a higher lift and duration intake cam would result in the car running rich across the board though, I'd of thought it would be impossible for less air to be taken into the cylinders if the cams were correctly timed to the application. What duration in the stock exhaust cams? I know the intakes are 224, 233 degree Jsp versus UK.
