  1. Hi guys, Just a quick one to say hello from the middle of the pacific!! I'm currently on one of BP's biggest tankers running from Longbeach to Basrah, and we've got this VSAT system onboard that allows us to use normal internet and free phone calls (no porn sites tho!!! ) Anyway, will be on the forum occasionally as the job allows, so tata for now!!
  2. Oh i give up! I was only giving my thoughts on the matter.., no need to get all !! I'm outta here..
  3. "The only way to improve your driving is through experience, and you can't teach that. You can only teach someone how to drive well, whether they choose to do so is up to them." So you're telling me if you went on an ARDS course or the like at Silverstone or anywhere like that, you would'nt learn anything at all?? I know we all like to think we are ace drivers, but there's always something you can learn or pick up... My point was that the current test is (as most people have already said), a bit of a waste of time, although it does indicate a basic skill level. There are so many cars on the road now (especially today!!), if we all had continual progressive training, i'm sure it'd help. How many times have we seen someone doing something incredibly stupid on the road, and said " where did he/she learn to drive?" And even if the government did make more money out of it, well, at least it might help pay for a better road system!!
  4. Well it'd certainly help IMO..maybe a sliding scale for performance as opposed to a pass/fail...
  5. Hey rosie, i've been championing this idea for a long while now...compulsory re-tests every 5 years for all roadusers (be that pushbikes, motorbikes or cars). Not only would this keep everyone up to date on road driving safety, it would weed out the incompetant f**kwits who think they own the road. Just my two cent's-worth...
  6. I recently upgraded to the road angel navigator from the previous model. It's quite a fiddle to find somewhere to locate the unit on the windscreen since it has a fold up ariel. Mines sort of in the middle of the windscreen, above the clock. It's a good unit, but does sometimes take a while to determine your position. Have'nt used the navigator bit of it yet, but will try later tonight on way down to cribbs. Think the tomtom is a bit smaller, so might be better on that side of things....
  7. Cheers garfy, have already used mx5parts.co.uk, theyre spot-on! They have a new headlight mod which is apparently a better design with the otion of HID's - might go for that when i get some more dosh!!
  8. Garfy - that's a sweet looking motor!! Is it a newer model? Mines the mk1 - like the headlight mods and bodykit(?) - very nice....!
  9. Pete, go for it - lots of tinkering to be done!!! Jamesmark - read an earlier post by mcanny (i think!)
  10. Thanx for the (in general) positive comments - it's a real scream to drive - just fitted a pipercross induction kit in under 30 mins, clear side repeaters in 5 mins, gear knob and gaiter in 10 mins - all a piece of piss (cheap too - total price was £150), makes it look (and go) a bit more!! If you think that's gay, well, takes one to know one, eh?? ;)
  11. As the title sez - been hankering after one of these for a while, so bit the bullet last weekend and got one!! Just really good fun, and cheap to boot:) M reg new import, immaculate inside and out for £4495, in a nice dark blue colour!! Insurance for me and Sally (my G/F) is cheap courtesy of Sky insurance, and it use feck all petrol (well, compared to my soop it does:) ) It's like a little rollerskate, and the handling is sublime (especially on backroads) - cheap affordable fun, especially now summers on its way Piccies on thier way when i work out how to reduce the size:)
  12. I was under the impression it was the button you pressed to summon Godzilla - buggerit, no back-up:D :D
  13. All depends if you wear burberry a lot and do crap donuts in shopping mall carparks - drive like a tit and get noticed:rolleyes: I've had my tints for about 2 years now (back windscreen 95% block), never had any interest from dibble at all....
  14. Yay! That's me, that is...famous at last;)
  15. Hi guys, good to meet everyone again:) Shame about the weather tho'.. Electricmini (soz can't remember your real name!), the blue soop was mine (i gave you a lift?!), thanx for the comment about the colour!
  16. Hybrids all the way!!! Plus the other stuff in my sig - think that'll do for now!!!
  17. Cheers dude - thanks for the advice!
  18. Got an SSQ on my auto - sounds wicked!!!
  19. Hi guys, Ordered a new auto gearknob from Toyota recently as my old one's a bit tatty. Not really into paying them to spend hours trying to replace it as they say they've never done one before. Anyone replaced one of these sucessfully? BTW, i've already done a search and found no useful threads..
  20. Yeah, Emin did mine a few years back - still looks the nutz:)
  21. PS Class One - love the sig m8!!
  22. Oh well, had my say i guess!! Horses for courses blah blah....
  23. Hey oxy, sounds good!! Just as long as we dont arouse too much suspicion from the rozzers like we did last time:)
  24. How come few people have spoken up for hybrids? I recently got the following done at Thor: Stage 3 hybrids (courtesy of envy) Walbro fuel pump FSE FPR Apexi AVCR GReddy Emanage n injectors n harness Iridium sparks Plus other associated little jobs, whole lot (with mappping and fine-tuning) came to a very reasonable £4876. The car is like a totally different beast now - putting out about 390bhp at the crank. The drive is smoother and more progressive on the power (although you have to be careful on the throttle!), and the inital acceleration is amazing from a standingstart. It's just as easy to drive hard as it is to pootle down the shops. My point is there's very few (public) roads where you can use the full potential of anything more than say 400bhp, and even fewer drivers who could actually handle this amount safely!! So to me singles seem a bit a of a waste of time (and money!) to turn an outstanding piece of engineering into an unmanageable (and unpredictable) amount of power. I'm sure i'll get shot down in flames for this post, but hey, it's a free country (so far..... ), each to thier own....
