  1. Had exactly the same problem on me mk3 before! So much for improving as we evolve then! Just cut away the rubbers and get a pair of girt big mole grips on 'em. Takes time, but there you go.
  2. Cheers bromy;) Have successfully sourced the correct head for £600, so not too painful (Toyota were quoting £3800 for a new one)
  3. Rob, dont s'pose the engine's still godd is it? Head's gone on mine, and was wondering if you still had your's, would it fit on a 95 TT auto block..... Cheers, a very despondant Salvatore
  4. I'm another one that got (partially) shafted by Suprastore. This was before i was aware of the multitude of excellent supra specialists in the UK. Ordered an EL dash kit (which i was assured was compatible with RHD cars), eventually turns up - LHD Could use 2 of the 3 supplied dials, but never even got a single reply to the 5 emails i wrote to them afterward...TOSSERS. Just thank God for the likes of Envy, Miami GT, TDI etc etc etc.
  5. Bugger it! Ive gotta get one of those meself seeing as the old one bust whilst taking the innards out for my new head gasket.
  6. Alright Darren, Thanks for your inquiry - you obviously know what you're talking about, whereas i only have a basic knowledge of engines! The garage has confirmed that the head gasket HAS blown, and there is traces of water in the cylinders - bugger. So i think it is a coolant leak into the head, for wich (correct me if i'm wrong here) the gasket will need to be changed. Ragrding the smoke and boost, well, the smopke was thick black shite (same as they had today when they tried to run her up), and no boost meant just that - flat response, like the turbo's were'nt even there. Does'nt sound too healthy, does it? Far as tests the toyota dealer did - i think they did the compression test, and that's all. Anyway, the garage is whipping the head off today, so i'll give u an update when we know more. TTFN Salvatore
  7. Hello all, Well, the one thing we all dread seems to have happened to me. Recently got me car out of storage and set off, rad seemed to be leaking badly. Limped home and got it fixed (or so i thought). Went out last week and was driving over to cheltenham when i went to overtake some old biddy doing about 20mph. Floored it - loadsa smoke and not much boost at all Took to gloster toyota for a diagnosis, was told to suspect a blown head gasket. Bummer...But worse was to come. When the guy from Toyota rang me, he said that if they found any cracks in the head after pressure testing it, they would have to replace the head, since (in his opinion), it's difficult to skim the head on one of these - he's reckoning on about £5000 for the job. FECK!! Anyway, took it to a reputable local garage where he thinks the dealership are talking through thier arse about a new head. Have got a nice new 1.6mm HKS metal headgasket courtesy of TDI ready to go in anyhoo. So, anyone got any stories of problems with warped/cracked heads - or (hopefullly) are these things as bombproof as i suspected! Cheers, Salvatore
  8. Alright chaps! Just a note to say sorry i did'nt make it. I picked up my mate and we headed over to chelt, but then when we got there, there was a feckin big barrier across the road! Spent the next 2 hours trying to find an alternative route and got thouroughly lost. FECK! Only just got me car back from getting the rad replaced an all! Anyhoo, from the latests posts, glad to see we showed the skyline boys who the real daddys are Any plans for a future glos meet coming up in the near future? Take it easy, Salvatore
  9. Hi guys and gals, I'd be well up for this lark soon, had mine dyno'd there a while back and they had no problems with a TT auto. When's it happening? Cheers Salvatore
