  1. Had 2 new front tyres put on the car last week, tracked and aligned, but now the steering wheel is not centred when the car drives straight, you have to turn it to the right to go straight on. So i took it back and spent most of saturday with them while they rechecked the alignment etc etc and after all that, its still the same and they have turned round and said "they dont KNOW whats wrong.....bring it back when they can keep the car for as long as necessary to determine why it is wrong" i was so effing annoyed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the steering wheel was fine until they put the fronts on and aligned it. They use a laser type alignment with things that go on all 4 wheels! could this indicate a more serious problem? like the rear wheels are mis-aligned quite a lot so the front alignment is wrong or something - i dont know - i expected the garage to figure it all out !
  2. count me in ! any night that week should be ok, except friday when i'm down me local. i'll have my usual of Burger and free-cheese ! whats with the Avatar Chris ? Only I hate you, and that because you have a Supra and a GT4 ! apart from that - your alright, you know as blokes go.
  3. me still stock mr adam W! me no see 1.2 me see 0.8 max - unfortunatley! or perhaps fortunatley after this ! i'm leaning towards (b) and then OPTIMAX ! Compared to Super Unleaded and even Standard Unleaded the price of Optimax is bloody good ! (round in this area at least)
  4. she took it to get some new fronts put on and she filled it up with STANDARD UNLEADED!!!!!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh from TESCO double ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 10 quidsworth ! what should i do !?!?!? a) suck it out and beat her with a syphon hose b) burn it off quickly up and down the A1M c) stick in a bottle of millers and then do (b) d) fill the rest of the tank with optimax then do (b) e) b c and d f) continue to run on the cheaper standard unleaded for the rest of the cars days (which will probably be very few) stupid stupid stupid
  5. dont take it personally the board is pretty dead of all the technogeeks - i mean technoguys, must be holiday season !
  6. if they boost ok - why bother replacing them?
  7. mine is lit on the box and on the dash (and in the ashtray!!)
  8. good to see the core Cambridge club region out last night.....and Justin. A most enjoyable drive there with ChrisR's Supra's Apexi giving it large. A few slips and slides on my new rears - I'm sure they will bed in eventually. but i guess the biggest dissapointment of them all...... no tasty barmaids ! Is it too early to think about a different Venue - shall we give it one more try and see if the quality improves?
  9. not sure, i'll have to get more info, i guess the balance / alighnment would be fairly cheap place to start with and if it all started to happen at the same time as the replacement tyres then it is probably going to be that. I remember with my Supra when i first got it a slight vibration (the steering wheel would wobble right to left) on 18"s but then as soon as i went down to 17s and got rebalanced it was all gone. ive done a search on this website (i know he doesnt own a supra) and a lot of the advice there is also the alignment / balance.....no results posted though as to weather that cured the problem in the end. one thing that did come up is that it could be a warped disc or a wheel bearing - i thought bearings though made a whiney noise (he has no noise) he describes the vibration more of a "car" vibration rather than specific to the steering wheel, with a lot of wind-type noise from the rear - i guess it could be called a rear judder. *maybe* the cars sat down a bit squat on one/both rear wheels, suggested a suspension problem....without getting it looked at i guess there's no way of knowing that...unless i guess there was a way of measuring ride height, although he'd have to know what it should be first
  10. well he got himself some nice new rears about 2 months ago and had the wheels balanced then, i think he said it was just balanced, should he get an alignment as well ? would that cause the vibration / inner rear tyre wear? i asked him if he'd kerbed it but he hasnt i guess a good mechanic to check it over would spot rear suspension/shocks/bushes problems? before he goes to his dealer network and he has to take out a second mortgage to get it fixed
  11. me too, sometimes does it if i'm really eager to get away and the choke is on full in cold weather, or this fine hot weather its been a little more pronounced i've found if you leave it a few mins after cold startup its fine, especially after the choke has settled down. - easier said that done when your about to drive such a fantastic machine! ;-)
  12. ...after a train journey from hell yesterday, (v v v v v hot, no air con, stationary in the sun for an hour, covered in sweat ughhhhh) i got it very very late , so if it happens again tonight i'll probably be a bit late, its not just the train, its the fact that i would have to go home and get a shower and changed, which you'll all probably appreciate... i'll try and make it but if its looking like past 9pm then i'll have to give it a miss as i'll probably be leaving early anyway as i've got a 5am start tomorrow. bloody sh**y trains - I HATE THEMMMMMMMMMMMM
  13. a friend of mine (who doesnt own a supra) is having problems with his car, symptoms are a) heavy inner rear tyre wear b) heavy vibration (feeling like its coming from the rear) at 100+ WHEN UNDER ACCELERATION, when he backs off or shifts into neutral (the weight of the car moves forward) the vibration stops, eg. vibration starts at 100+ all the way to 140 on acceleration, back off and the speed slowly drops from 140 down to 100 - no vibration. c) a slight change in the handling of the car, feels light at the front its RWD like the Supra i suggested it may be the rear shocks he doesnt really want to fork out a loada money trying to get a diagnosis any idea would be much appreciated ! regards

  20. Well guys, I went home and didnt get a chance to take it above the limiter, (traffic), but i found the little blighter behind the dash, seemed ok, just pushed in a few connections made sure all was tight, moved the little box as well so it was jammed into a corner instead of rattling around inside the dash!!!!!!!! took a look at the ECU in the passenger footwell, the black box holding it together was a bit lose as the bolts were not tight, and a pink wire that run up to the limiter thing had been stripped and just making taped over, which had slipped off leaving exposed wire. I taped it all up again took it for a little run grin factor returned A few thankyou's - to everyone who read/posted to the thread to appease my panic stricken mind!!!!!!! Leon who was willing to take in my car to check it out with almost ZERO notice !!!!! JIC for willing to replace it and refit another one F.O.C even though i bought it off them 2 years ago !
  21. *Another* club :-) I'll see tonight, although i defintley heard something rolling / rattling around in the passanger footwell - i think somethings come off, out, apart, whatever ! Thanks for all the advice guys - i'll be trying to put it into practice tonight... good weekend tony
