    Can't wait!!

Thanks Steve, Yes, I'm now certain they are AV3s, and I've done a little research too.. it seems as though the 19"ers came only in 8.5 and 9.5 inch front and rear sizes respectively (which is perhaps why they look a little less deep dish than your 18s), whereas the 18"ers were available in 9 and 10 inch. Not sure why though? Really hope UK brakes will fit behind them! Joe
  4. I think the Bugatti EB110 had quad turbochargers.... seem to remember Michael Shcumacher had one once....praise if needed! Joe
  5. Hi there, If you can't find the car you want locally, try group20. They are car sourcers rather than dealers but they often have cars ready for sale in this country. I have just put a deposit down on a car bought by them on my behalf. I've been very happy with their service so far too. Website is as follows http://www.import-japanese-cars.com/index.asp Regards, Joe

    Can't wait!!

Got it through Group20 (based in Southampton). Can't fault their service; I initially felt very uncertain about buying such a car unseen, but Patrick has been superb in guiding me through the process so far. eight weeks and six days to go.................

    Can't wait!!

Nope it's not an aerotop, but couln't let this one pass by with the mileage & spec. Its an auction grade 4 car with interior grade B (one off as new condition). Might add a few things on its arrival though Joe

    Can't wait!!

.....For my TT to arrive! I have searched for many many weeks to find the right car, and just the other week this one popped up and I couldn't turn it down; It's a 93' GZ auto totally standard apart from those huuuge rims and its got just 24,000 miles on the clock (which will be certified by BIMTA). I think the wheels are Volk AV3s but not 100% sure Put the deposit installment down on it today, I've been advised to expect to collect the car in approx 9 weeks.... Counting the days down already! Edited to add... Looking forward to meeting some of you lot when the car arrives! Joe
  9. Agreed. I've never spent this amount of money in my life, so I'll stick to the non-accident examples. Thanks for all the quick responses. Didn't expect to get so many so quickly Joe
  10. Thanks Scooter & Steve, I think your right; but obviously I can't drive the car until I have bought it, although the company concerned do offer a full money back pledge should the car arrive in Southampton and not be to my satisfaction. One other thing, the pictures from this auction house are of quite low resolution/poor quality. I'm starting to wonder why.... hmmm. Thats settled then, It shouldn't be to long for a good one to come along hopefully.
  11. Thanks for the prompt reply. Is it possible that the grade 4 rating for this car was cosmetic only?! I don't really know enough about their grading system anyway so perhaps the car is to be avoided. Just watching Newera's Sylines & Skyscrapers DVD and according to the interviews on that, the grading system isn't as reliable as one might think.
  12. Afternoon everyone I'm in desperate need of some quick advice. There is a 93 auto TT with 50k miles on the clock for 9 grand (in Japan). However, there is a problem: "The bonnet has been replaced; also front member has been replaced" Would this suggest that the car has been in a major accident, or just a low speed shunt? The car is actually listed as grade 4 and of interior grade B. I need to inform the importing company by 6pm today if I wish to make a bid, but I don't want to end up with a lemon! Any advice greatly appreciated, Joe
  13. So where could I get one of them then Dude? Hmm, isn't your car the one on Miami Rice's website? They're a bit far away from me but 50,000 miles + nice 18" alloys for £10k ....... One thing though, a 96 facelift wouln't have the VVTI engine because they were introduced in 98'..weren't they? Joe ps that quote from you've got from Chris Wilson put me off UKs!
  14. Yep I think I agree with you on that one Chuck. I've just found a nice standard auto facelift 96' with 50,000 miles (with warranty) for the same price as that black 93' manual with 68,000 miles (without warranty). I must say that the prices of these twin turbos seem all over the place. I suppose modifications confuse the issue somewhat because they (presumably) only add value to a car if they have been proffesionaly executed using high quality parts. I don't see the point in paying the same money for a manual that is three years and 18,000 older than an auto! Joe
  15. Thanks for the welcomes, and thanks for the advice, terminator. Has Matt Harwood got a website for car security? I'm off to Karma imports later to look at a black TT manual they have in stock there. I reckon its an import, even though it has leather and some UK history (I understand the manual J-specs didn't have leather as standard) . The car has done 68,000 miles and its a 93 example. Price £10,995. What d'you reckon? Good price? Still not sure where to send my cheque to join your club Joe
  16. CJ, thats most kind of you! I live in Filton at the mo. It would be great to meet up this wednesday if thats ok? I live in Filton at the mo, but name a time and place and I'll be there. Perhaps you could send me one of those private mesage thingies if this is ok? Tom, I think I know about that black TT aertop in the trader, I'm fairly sure I saw it at a car show at Harpenden, seem to remember it having those rather nice Lexus GS wheels. Very very nice. Noly thing is I wouldn't feel confident buying such a car without an expert alongside (and that doesn't mean a bloke from the AA!) Afennel, good to hear supras are loved rather than loathed! I see you sourced your car through Newera- did you rate their service? I've got the 'Skylines and Skyscrapers' DVD from them, which makes for good viewing, but I still have doubts about ordering a car I haven't driven, from someone I haven't ever met. Edited to add- Dave/200sx boy, those links on your sig are very handy! Kind regards Joe
  17. Thanks Neil, its good news that supras are respected, I was thinking I might have to get pentagon to install some smash-proof window glass and a removable steering wheel otherwise! (I don't live in the best of areas at the mo) I'd love to come to the Gloucester meet on the 28th, but unfortunately i'll be in hertfordshire that weekend Keep the words of wisdom coming! Joe
  18. Thanks for the warm welcome, and thanks for the info Dude. I'm gonna aim for a J-spec, preferably in GZ trim. Would £13K get me a good sub 50k miles example? I've seen a few examples for sale around this price point, but would it be wiser to hold out for a post facelift car for a bit more cash? One other thing... where do you park your supras at night? Are they easy targets for car theives? Can't get access to a garage unfortunately Any further advice greatly appreciated! Joe
  19. Evening everyone! I've been reading through these excellent forums for a while now and thought it was about time I introduced myself. So greetings to all! I've been thinking about buying a supra (TT) for a few months now and will very shortly be looking to buy Unfortunately I haven't driven or even been driven in a supra yet but have viewed a few examples at car imports direct in bristol. I had planned to go to JIC but I hear that they are no longer in business. . Any reccommendations for dealers in the Bristol or Hertfordshire area? I'm looking to spend somewhere between £10k- £13k ish. Would a good aero top be out of my price range? Initially was after a manual but they seem to cost significantly more than autos. Would I get a better (condition/mileage) auto for my money than an equivalent 6 speed? How do you rate the autobox on the TT supra? Do they offer as much control as the 6 speed? One last question; there are plenty of j-specs out there, and UK cars seem rare in comparison. What worries me is that there seems to be no way that you can obtain proof of servicing for many of these j-spec cars: For example how can you tell whether or not the recently imported J-spec with 50,000 miles on the forecourt has had its oil changes at the correct intervals?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and I hope all the questions aren't too tedious. Kind regards, Joe ps: I'd very much like to join your club, but not sure who to write my £10 cheque out to or where to send it
