  2. You may well have heard of him, he's been featured before in Japanese Performance and Evo. I spent last Sunday doing one of his car control courses, with two other guys, one in an Elise Sport190 and the other in a Noble M400 (amazing car). Don has quite an unusual coaching method, and all the better for it; the course did for me exactly what it said on the tin and I feel my limit car control skills have improved considerably (and it was a bloody good laugh too!).     How much RON?

    Right I can't remember seeing another thread like this so I thought I'd put forward some questions: I had always thought that 100ron petrol was readily available in Japan, thus that must be what was used by the general public. However, on watching the Skylines and Skyscrapers vid (coutesy of Newera), it is stated that 100ron fuel is NOT as readily available as most people think, and is not actually the norm. So what is the norm over there? What rating of petrol are our J-spec supras designed to run on? Are our j-specs not running to their full potential if not using 100ron, or doesn't it matter when we can use 98ron which isnt far off? Any ideas? Gough
  7. Hi Matt, yep I'm sure your right about the sensors. I'm just repeating what the guy in the audio/security shop said to me. Oh and mine's an Aerotop.. ...which probably accounts for the advice I was given.
  8. Matt, It may also be worth checking that the inner wheelarch lining is fully secure. I had a clonking/catching noise on full lock at low speeds, so took the wheel off to find that one of the bolts for the inner arch lining was missing, which lead to the arch lining catching on the wheel at full lock. With a new bolt secure and in place the problem's solved.

Thanks for the replies everyone To answer the above question, I was told by the guy that sorted my alarm out, that this particular problem, with the 'over sensitive' sensor under the central compartment, is a problem that is unique to supras, simply because the supras design allows very little room for its manoeuvre. Apparently, said sensor can also be mounted in the roof lining near the cabin lighting, but this causes even more problems! I have to say its a pain not being able to use what little storage space the supra has! In all honesty I probably would have bought a cheaper, simpler alarm had I known about this. Regards, Gough

  13. Since its been couple of weeks without the alarm going off (apart from once!), I though it was time give some feedback that might be of use for anyone experiencing similar problems. I took the car down to Westerns, the chap there explained that the sensor underneath the centre console/gearstick area can sometimes be triggered if items that are left in the cubby hole or ash tray move slightly: Depending on how well, or should I say, how badly mounted this sensor is, the said items may need only to move a tiny fraction for the alarm to go off. For example, I had a couple of plastic bags with tools in them in the centre console compartment - they may have been moving fractionally (due to, say, temperature changes inside the cabin), triggering the sensor. So moving/adjusting the sensor or taking out whatever is in the storage compartment ashtray, or both, may cure the problem. I did both, and the alarm, touch wood, has been fine so far.

Evening all, My Clifford Concept 300 (+tilt sensor) been problematic for a number of weeks now - going off for no particular reason, sometimes 3 times in 30 minutes, and then no problems for a week (it varies). I've had enough, and so have my neighbours probably. My question is as follows: does anybody on here know if there is anyone in the Bristol area who would be able to sort it out without charging an arm and a leg? The alarm was fitted when I purchased the car about six months ago, so its certainly not past its sell by date. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  17. Afternoon! Just arrived back from a full service at Chris Wilson's. The car feels much better than before - less kickback through the steering wheel and the autobox shifts are smoother (how did you achieve that Chris?). ...Ah yes and its a bit quicker than before too (there was me thinking I wouldn't go any further down the tuning route.. ha ha yeah right). Feels like two turbo 2's now if you see what I mean Just to clarify Chris, I now need a Fuel Cut defender from Pete Betts at Thor don't I ... and is a boost guage necessary? Thanks again for all your work Chris.

  19. Thanks chaps, yes the car is in good nick. I have BIMTA certificates guaranteeing that the cars mileage was 38,0000km (24,000 miles) when it was imported (6months ago), I have since added about 3000. I am aware what knackered intercoolers can lead to, and the car is a 1993 model (september 93 to be precise), hence my concerncs.... but bloody hell Grazer yours takes the biscuit! So far you all reckon mines got at least a years life left then? Here are some more pics of the car if anyones interested...

  21. Afternoon all, I have a hunch that my stock intercooler is in need of replacement. I poked it with a biro earlier on and it felt more brittle than bendy (its from a 93' model). I'll be getting a Chris Wilson replacement if it does need sorting. Its probably a bit tricky to tell from the pics but what do you all think? Thank you Gough

  24. ....now pokes out the back of my supra. Wonderful meaty rumbly burbly warbly sound at low speeds (reminds me slightly of the Rover V8 noise you get with TVR Chimeras and Griffiths), but relatively quiet and non-intrusive at motorway speeds. Exactly what I had hoped for. Also got the silencing thing that you can poke in for trackday noise regs. Just thought I'd let you all know what its like in case anyone's thinking of one for themselves. Cheers
  25. Saw one today in Cribbs mall shopping centre car park. No. plate ended in 'WOW' - also had AEZ alloys I think. Also say another silver one trundling round the Hotwells roundabout. No plate L448 ... (something like that anyway). Anyone on here?
