Here's the thread I've created to get us started. Put your questions here for any info you are after or to generally introduce yourself to the rest of the TSS boys and girls.... http://www.toyota-sprint-series.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=812

ok guys, use the link below to create an account first. http://www.toyota-sprint-series.com/forums/ucp.php?mode=register make sure you use a proper name for the account and not a funky one as it's more difficult to filter out by the TSS guys. They'll get the accounts authorised and we can go from there. Let me know your username and I'll pass the info in to the TSS guys so they can sort out. (They've had problems with spam software creating rogue accounts!) Once we're all created the questions can start being answered

ok, for those interested I'll sort out a thread on the TSS forum. There are some problems with the TSS account creation so I'll try and sort this out via the organisers. Once we get accounts on the forum the TSS guys can see were serious about doing something and they can help out with any questions we have. I'll post up more details tomorrow.

a mate has a carbing front brace....
-
... good man Paul, what do we do next to get the ball rolling on this??
-
from what I can recall, you need to get to bolts at the top of the aircon/heater unit which wont be accessable without the dash out. I think you can remove the aircon element from the front of the unit but you'd have to remove the glove boxes... and all the pipework looked like it was integrated into the one unit. I may be corrected but that what I remember, as my dash was already out when I removed mine. HTH

Thats more like it guys, you don't have to do all of them so people who just want to try are welcome. I did one round in its first year and it was great fun. Everyone there was very friendly and helpfull, especially when I needed a hand and borrowed some tools! Alex has obviously had fun last year, and Baz has tried to get people interested in the past... lets make something of this and get a good group together to show supra's can go round corners!

So where are the club representitives then... if theres a good enough interest then surely the club can enquire on getting a Supra championship going?? People who are interested, even if only for a round, put your name down here so we can see the numbers.... 1.SteveL

... thats only from what I remember doing a couple of years ago, best check with the TSS forum as to exactly what happens.... Remember this is less risky than a track day! It's also a competition, so you're challenging yourself - after a while track days get a bit boring if theres nothing to aim for... and they are more stressful on the car and you than one of these events. Track days demand properly setup cooling, brakes and tyres to get the best out of the day... TSS is more about short sprints, so you never get the same levels of heat stress on the vehicle or yourself and you'll never go through tyres like a track day does! To get a road car ready to do a track day will cost much much more than it will to do a TSS event. In my opinion, if you're after something different this is much better and cheaper than a track day.

So, Paul, if there's enough interest in this, whats the next step? Does someone from the club have to approach Adrian or someone at TSS to organise the club's intention to take part? Dunk, if I remember correctly there are a number of practice sessions where you can drive the course, then you get about 6-8 attempts at setting your fastest time. Much the same way as a sprint/hill climb.
-
....think of it as a drag strip with corners Most of you don't mind driving alongside a concrete wall for 1/4 of a mile The circuits are supposed to be challenging, and there's no one else on the course at the same time as you - its you v's the clock. This is a great way of learning how to control your car in a safe environment.
-
nice shiney and reflective - so you get blinded when the suns out! Looks nice but not my bag, and very expensive - I've seen a carbon dash before with an estimated +£1000 price tag. The one Paul is looking at doing will be 'flockable' as well, so it'll be a nice matt finish, or can be painted matt black.

C'mon guy's, this is a chance to hoon around it your car and have a bit of fun. It doesn't matter if you don't win... it's taking part and learning about the car handling thats the fun bit. As mentioned in the pdf, if the club wants to organise different 'trophies' then everyone has a chance of winning something. As Paul mentioned, it can be a club get-together as well as a competition. I tried an event a couple of years ago, its great fun, and you'd be suprised what a supra can do!
-
.. gotcha, thanks for clarifying that
-
Best to get it checked as surely there will be different loads on the engine because of different gearing.
-
BigDino, I don't want to get into the whole debate about who's fault it is, whether or not you should have the dog - as I like probably most people on here don't know you.... So, is there not a local rehoming centre or a Rhodesian owners 'club'/organisation near by that would take her? I appreciate that you've only just heard, but please give her a chance and see if she can have a life with someone else... it's a massive shame that she could be destroyed because of what has happened and the changes in circumstances. There are plenty of people out there that can help in this situation.... Good luck...

SteveL's (Garage Whifbitz) Supra race car build
SteveL replied to Paul Whiffin's topic in mkiv Supra Projects
Little update... As well as all the engine work that was done before the last round of TA (Just!) I had Nitron 3 way suspension fitted. Pics below are of front and rear shock and one of each mounted. This was tested at Snetterton about 5 weeks before the last round and I settled into it nicely - very nice suspension indeed. We'll probably have to do a bit more setup testing to get my favorite setup (as I ended up with the same settings as Paul for the Snetterton round). In the end it's down to personal preference - but we both had some points we noted in the last round that could be improved on in the setup for fast circuits. I've also included a pic of the engine bay now, after the Greddy inlet has been installed and with her nice and clean for the last round. Full details of the last round are here... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=199747 Just in time for the last round, I also fitted a Tyresure system. Still have some setup/testing to do with this but it was handy at Snetterton in checking pressures were ok whilst I was out on track - the back straight gives you a few seconds to have a look at everything! More testing will give a better idea on what kind of tyre temps we should look for in respect to tyre temps we measure. But so far it's a handy piece of kit and I would hope it would at least warn of a potential issue from a flat/slow puncture if we had one. I've also got some plexi door windows and vents to fit, hopefully I'll get those done soon and post some pics of that as well. -

... yep still running one of them, and at the TA round at snetterton the noise level was 101dB @5500rpm so it's settled in at that level now. -
Grease goes on the inside of the bushes so they don't bind on the ARB when the brackets are tight. As for the plate - can't remember where mine are, but you could give Paul Whiffin a PM or call.

The main body is polished on the top and is dirty(whats the point of underneath!) but for those polish meisters out there it could do with a little work ... why are you interested?
