  1. I bought from Paul whiffin as well, unfortunately he's a long way from you. Used him for best part of 4 years for work as well. Worth checking out his web site to get idea of whats about, you never know. People have travelled a loooong way to get the one they want...... whoever you choose - there's bound to be info on here about them..... Steve
  2. Ok - so I was missing something I sit corrected - thanks tbourner..... Steve.
  3. Jay, maybe I'm missing something - so this is only a suggestion .... If youre getting hard accelleration in lower gears without problems, this wouldn't be fuel cut - it sounds more like the prob I had with a loose connection in the wiring of my delimiter. My problem was the result of removing the upper dash a few times and eventally causing one of the wires to the ECU on the back of the odometer to become loose. I could be way off, and I'm in no way suggesting anyone else's comments are wrong ( or dissing workman-ship ) - it's just that the symptoms are exactly like mine were. Steve.
  4. Hi CJ, Mr Whiffin can get some...... http://www.whifbitz.co.uk/supra-interior.html ('bout halfway down page) Was thinking about them myself, Steve.
  5. James, I use Paul Whiffin, as I'm only about 15 mins from Cambridge - and he's in Enfield - only 50 mins blast down the M11.... Steve.
  6. Ahh, nice one - I'll give that a go.... Cheers. Steve
  7. Hi guy's - I'm embarking on the dash painting task.... but can't get the dash dimmer off! ( the rotating dimmer on the right hand dash section ) Anyone know how to do this? Didn't want to force it off buy just pulling..... Thanks in advance Steve
  8. Thanks Chris, I'll have to read up on suspension setups a bit..... Can you have a 'compromise' between track setup and fast road? - or is it not worth trying. I'm currently running Cusco uprated springs and Bilsteins, and on track they feel pretty stable - but obviously don't allow any adjustment. When the alignment was setup the guys had to compromise a little as they couldn't get 'factory' setup with the lowered springs and 18" wheels. Most of my time in the supe is spent on country roads as well, so this setup seems fine - I have more problems with traction than anything nasty in the handliing department :-) ( RLTC's on the cards.....) Steve.
  9. I've used Kuhmo 712's on the rear for about 18 months, 1 set has lasted about 8000 miles so far, including a track day, and seem fine. They are a little harder than toyo's or bridgestones - but they all loose traction .... so I went with saving a few quid, so I can try the Kuhmo track day tyres Steve.
  10. Is anyone using any of the 'trackday' tyres the manufacturers are now producing? I've seen reviews of some of the latest tyres - like the toyo and Dunlop's - but not on anything like a supe - most are tested on 4wd cars like skylines and scoobies... I'm considering all things at the moment, from Kuhmo V70A's ( AFAIK ) to Dunlops Formula R's - but don't think it's worth going to slicks. Steve
  11. Guy's - it's not often I can add to these posts..... but, Get a set of HIDs - they are the nuts..... I've had a set on mine for over a year ( originally from Paul Whiffin ). If you live anywhere that has low light levels - or drive on country roads alot... these are superb. It's far better to see what you could avoid than rely on better brakes to stop when you cant see until the last moment! I went for the 4000K set, and find that most of the time I don't need main beam. Also - if people are having lighting problems, get a MOT/garage to do an alignment check as originally mine were way off as well. Steve.
  12. jot_ie, I also run the same size/profile tyres as you, with 8.5 front and 9 rears. But on 33psi all round. This has always worked fine for me, on 2 cars... a manual and auto - both with cusco springs and Bilsteins. I have 9 and 10 x 17's for track use - buggers on the road as they tramline like hell.
  13. Wouldn't mind the door trims and front seats.... Anyone know what seats are worth? - and where abouts in Cambrigeshire this fella is ? Cheers
  14. Cheers Nick - a phone number'd be great. It's a plastic type window, thats split ( suppose crack is the wrong word ).... didn't know wether the plastica can be replaced, or a new roof required.
  15. Hi all, Typically, I've not posted much before, and now I post a non-supra question! Does anyone know someone in the Cambridge area who can repair convertible windows? Friend's got a cracked window..... (Here's hoping someone likes non-supe questions )
  16. Trev, I ran a jap auto TT for a while with just 2nd cat removed and an FCD - boost showing approx 1.1bar on a good cool morning. Enough to anoy an new M5, but not quiet enough to keep up with a Carrera Turbo ( new ) at Bedford Autodrome! Kept me amused for quite a while.....
  17. I fitted mine to the lead comming out of the ariel in the rear wing. Just take the trim panels off in the boot, find a power source for it and connect that baby up.... ( used the source from the boot light on the opposite side ) Seemed to work ok for me, and a lot less hassel than removing radio etc...
  18. Thanks Paul + Faye , I'll let him know. Appologies for the 'guys' phrase - will now use 'guys and gals'
  19. Richy, I run a J-spec on Billies and Eibachs - ride is firm but not jaw brakin' - and is low enough... As a guide - I've about 20mm clearance on 18's in the front arches.
  20. Hi guy's - any of you use the services of garages in the Gatwick area? A friend is looking at a supra - but wouldn't mind knowing if there is anyone near him that knows supras? Cheers
  21. If it's a brass screw type - looks like a T, and paid about £25-30 - I've tried one and found it not good for mine. It actually made less boost ! Geoff's wastegate diag sounds the right direction ( not a real techy myself - but I've seen similar discussions on the US boards )
  22. Thanks Dude, Good point Paul - I'll try and find someone near me who's a box specialist ( If anyone knows someone near Cambridge I'd be interested... ) Terminator, Don't care so much about cost - it's wasting time and effort when someone could just be saying the right thing to get a sale..... How many plugs you got for sale
  23. Hi guy's, not posted before but been an avid 'watcher' - thought I'd join in after reading the auto fluid discussions and suffering from the ticky noises .... Phoned my local Lexus dealer in Cambridge, they stated the type IV fluid is no longer under part number 08886-81015, but have the same stuff in 5L tubs for approx £45. Anyone else found this.... ?
