  1. looking like an excellent turn-out guys... Paul and myself will be there competing in the Time Attack round, so come over to the garages and say hi
  2. Must admit I love the sound of these, very similar to the HKS super dragger I had on before. Nice and meaty low down and a lovely purr when pushed. I'll try and get some sound recordings done soon. Also, not that it's important to everyone, but Paul did weigh one of these but I can't remember how much it was.

...thanks guys. Full report coming ...

    Knockhill TA

hi guys, just a quick update, as there's a full write up coming shortly.... Paul was unable to race, turbo issues on the test day before mean't it was too much of a risk on the engine to continue. I finished 1st in qualifying and first in the final for the RWD category :-) ... fortunately this made the weekend/journey worth it!
  5. Testing and race at Oulton was awesome, the car performed faultlessly for both days and it gave me a chance to use the Racepak dash on track for the first time. It's an excellent piece of kit, very readable, clear and as you can modify the display you can have what ever you want displayed. Big thanks again to all the team for their work and help... Full report is here : http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=183465 Also as we had upgraded the cooling for the oil and brakes we were happy to see that oil temps didn't rise above about 85 deg C which is great news as last year we were suffering from heat issues a little, with temps well into the 110 deg C. Brakes also felt better - no fade at all... I am known at Time Attack for going the full 20mins in a session and pretty much blasting the whole time, so this first run proved that they are also feeling better. Since Oulton we've fitted a heated front windscreen, just in time for knockhill! - this will help with misting problems since I haven't got any form of heating/demisting in the car now. I've even removed the blower fan I had. There were also plans to fit one of the new Whifbitz 3.5 inch exhausts but decided that there wouldn't be time to test it properly before knockhill, so that'll have to wait until after. Seeing as the exhaust is of interest to a few members I'll try and do some 'testing' etc for people to get an idea of noise/sounds etc. We have to make the cars conform to a max of 105dB and were hoping this will get us well below that. Also as I haven't got ANY soundproofing at all the interior noise is something that is important from a driver comfort point of view... driver fatigue on track is just as much an issue as on the road! more soon.....
  6. I can recommend Whifbitz, its the only place I've used for over 7 years of supra ownership. They know a lot about single conversions and whats decent to use, depending on what your budget is and what you ultimately want.
  7. Thanks Wez, silly thing is I had a lap with a massive tank slapper coming out of the chicane complex and posted 5 tenths slower than my fastest... that could have put me in the top 3! ... stop it... you´ll make me blush Again though , its worth mentioning, thanks to all the Garage Whifbitz Team over the last seasons into this one.
  8. Just got back as well, awesome couple of days.... Big thanks to Paul/Daz/Pete/Dan/Jim and Richard for their help. Paul - I may have had bigger balls, but for your first time there you can't deny you did excellent as well. We did good fellas, looks like we've got a standard to keep up now for the rest of the season!
  9. Quick update... As both of us are in club class this year there is the chance for us to achieve something in the rwd class. So we managed First - me Second - Paul And overall Fourth - me Seventh - Paul Overall a very good day!
  10. Just got back from Spain, hopefully I brought some decent weather with me.... Only have to get the car down to Pauls tomorrow, work on it and load her up for the truck to take them up tomorrow night so we can start playing on Friday BTW - were at the track day Friday at Oulton if anyone's around...
  11. These carbon dashes are getting a bit common ;-) Good work mate - see you went for the electronic cut off...
  12. .. are you saying I'm cheap the quick release is made by D1, as Paul said they're available on ebay. I think I paid about £60 for it.
  13. Nothing wrong with the gauges ... I should have rearranged them better, but couldn't with the layout of the supe. You'll have no probs in the rex as the dash layout you'll have will allow the gauges to be right in front of you. Also, I wanted data logging of all the gauges
  14. Not driven in anger on track with it yet, but the idea is that all the necessary data is displayed on the Racepak instead of scattered around in gauges. Warning lights on the dash flash if there's anything nasty going on. Plus the telemetry from both mine and Pauls cars can now be compared easily to see who's driving like a girl - or of course any differences in setup can be compared.(within reason)
  15. A quick update, dash is now finally done... (pic below) Its a hell of a lot cleaner than before, with everything now within easy reach. Basically made it from two pieces of carbon sheet. The right hand side has the curve in it to help getting in and out over the rollcage as we were kicking the dash last year! Still got to wire in and mount switch for the heated front windscreen and a cigarette lighter socket (that will be out of sight). The dial/green button and red light are.... Racelogic trac control. (idea stolen from Paul on mounting them directly into the dash ) Fire system is almost back in, as its been moved to behind the passenger seat. I'm also considering a hand held extinguisher as well but not sure where thats going to go yet!
  16. I chipped all mine out in Jan, only weighed about 1.5kg though!
  17. I'd agree with Jamie, R888's + standing water = passenger ride! I had a go in the rain at Marham last year - not funny - just have to wait for the car to grip again and then start taking action! I have then on mine all the time, but mines hardly a daily driver anymore.
  18. How'd this go guys? Apologies for not comming, got bogged down with work problems :-(
  19. ...patience dear boy - its no different atm, so no pics Although I can post the same pics as before if you want ... is that a 'challenge'? Because if it is I know I'll lose
  20. Jeez - I hope you lot don't ever need charity support! If you agree - give, if you don't switch over and watch something else... Maybe someone can rant about the dispicable actions of the South African government or something! Or maybe the diamond mines....
  21. .. yep - could be the first 'proper' carbon dash! ... I just wish someone else was doing it... but as I can't do the real techy stuff I have to do something . It's amazing how much thought needs to go into it. I've spent a while looking on the web at a load of other race dashes to see what people have done. It's all the little bits that make a good dash, like location of certain switches so that you can reach them easily whilst harnessed in! BTW - having driven the car home yesterday I can say the Racepak is an excellent dash - very clear to read and use. Just got to learn how to use it now!
  22. Pics below show the frame, and in pieces to post... To double check it'll fit your seat, let me know the dimensions of the mount holes on the underside of the seat and I'll check against the frame to make sure it'll mount on it. The side mounts will come off, by the sounds of it you don't need them so I can remove them and save some postage
  23. Quick update - no pics though I managed to get down to Whifbitz the other day. Must say, the boys have done a superb job on the work so far - Dazza's meticulous workmanship, as always, has mean't I can have a go at rebuilding the dash now. (with obviously no pressure from Daz in carrying on the workmanship style!) I managed to make a carboard template of the dash facia, so I can cut the carbon out thats going to replace it. This wasn't too bad a task - until I came to cutting the carbon! Lets just say I know appreciate why Toyota designed the main dash to be in 3 parts!!! I'm about half way through this, so when I get a chance to finish this I'll post up some pics. The idea is to have a complete carbon facia, with a cut away section to enable getting in and out over the rollcage easier. The Racepak will be mounted on this, and the switches, fire system controls, boost controller, racelogic and AFR gauge will be mounted on the lefthand side of the dash. I'll also mount the connectors for the racelogic, racepak and possibly the Apexi FC on the dash as well, so configuring the electronics will be easier to plug into. I'm also going to make some panels up to tidy up the passenger side of the dash.... Then its onto reinstalling the fire system, some changes to be made here, and then the ventilation side needs to be addressed, as it gets bloody hot in there!
