  1. http://www.jamesoliverstone.co.uk/ Good guy - based in central Hants. Met him through the local car club before he set his photography business.
  2. They all snap like that. Assuming you still have the bit that broke off you could drill a couple of very small holes for wire pins (gives the strength) then just glue the part back on.
  3. That's pretty much the same as I found - maybe it helps _slightly_ or maybe it doesn't. Either way, Cusco got £50, and I got something shiney under my bonnet.

    Rust removal

Last time I used vinegar for de-rusting, the part came out all pitted and nasty. Probably the better answer is to whizz it off with a wire brush, then seal it with rust preventative, depending on the complexity of the part.
  5. Heat shrink tubing big enough to slide over a crimp probably won't shrink by enough to make it worth it. It's really meant to go over a soldered joint.
  6. In fairness, I've never seen a thermostatic valve for a towel rail. If your system gets into a state where it needs to dump so much excess heat that _any_ open rad can't sort it out, then you've got a bigger problem. The main thermostats on the wall and on the hot water tank should prevent this situation.
  7. Surely if it's the heat sink rad, a thermostatic valve is exactly what you don't want, since it could cut off the rad when it's most needed, ie, when there is excess heat to dump.
  8. What these box shifters mean when they say "Its in stock" is "Our supplier has stock", which could be outside of the UK. It hasn't even been a month yet, and with Christmas/New Year and poor weather in between there have probably been delays. Don't get too stressed over it yet.
  9. Ah - ha, that's my old car. Glad to see my picture is still doing the rounds! That car was an NA aerotop, and I can state categorically that bracing the front and rear tightened up the car no end, especially with the roof off. Completely fixed any interior creaking with the roof on too. I suspect the gains are smaller on a fixed roof car, but still worth having for track work. Probably not for the road.
  10. How much are you paying (should someone have a Nur Spec R they want to sell)?
  11. Hmm, rock and a hard place...if you've spent time cooking for someone, it's rude of them to keep it waiting - either dinner spoils through overcooking, or it spoils through going cold on the plate. Personnally I just get on with it - if my missus gets a cold dinner, that's her lookout because she gets plenty of warning that it's ready.
  12. Graphics look kinda stretched to me...it's a problem with bigger screens - more space to fill, but no extra stuff to fill it with.
  13. How much lift can you use before risking valves hitting pistons though?
  14. How about that, we're going to that show tomorrow.

    Going insect....

I thought I'd be willing to give most foodstuffs a try, but I think I just drew the line!
  17. But is that total subscriber numbers, or the much-touted registration rate of new users?
  18. There's a point system published on the DVLA website - each thing you change counts a number of points, and when you hit the magic number, it has to be registered on a Q plate. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/RegisteringAVehicle/DG_10014199
  19. Surely an time you're driving over about 30mph you'll be shoving more air through there than any fan can shift anyway... At that point, the fan housing becomes an obstruction to the airflow.

    Solar Charger

The cigaratte lighter is on a switched live connection, so it's no use plugging a solar panel in when the ignition is off. You need to attach the panel directly to the battery, but don't run the cable through the door seals, because you'll get leaks.
  21. Quick hyjack here, but how do you get the glass out? Can it be done without breaking it?
  22. No rips or tears, just the wear marks in the picture. They need your seatbelt clip bolting on then bolt them straight into the car. Power is a live and negative to be taken from the loom - you may even have the connector already, who knows.
  23. Hello everyone, I have a pair of black leather front seats for sale. Drivers side is electrically adjustable, but has clearly been retrofitted into the car at some time so the loom connector has been replaced with terminals (picture 2). Condition is pretty good for used condition. Other information: I've kept the seatbelt clips for use with my new seats. I've also re-used the subframe bolts. Most of the bolt-covers are available if desired. I understand the going rate is ~£300 ono. Collection only - from Winchester, or I can meet part way within reason. Bank transfer preferred or cash on collection - NO PAYPAL. http://homepages.tesco.net/christopher.nixon//seats/PB190022-thm.JPG http://homepages.tesco.net/christopher.nixon//seats/PB190025-thm.JPG
  24. It's a fixed hardware plug server - no option of upgrading the graphics card, but I guess the whole point would be to hook into a TV, so it should be up to the task of running 1080 HD.
  25. Globalscale make the Shivaplug, which is being replaced with the new Guruplug, one variant of which even has HDMI-out - perfect for a media centre terminal.
