  1. Following on from the original question, I'm trying to work out a budget for this driveway. Does anyone happen to know approximately how much it costs to get tarmac laid on a driveway? Per square metre would be handy. Thanks
  2. Isn't body fat largely made up of water? So IF the entire 50g of food was retained by the body (for the sake of argument), it could be stored up as fat with a good portion of water, total weight being MORE than 50g...but that ignores the initial weight of water also consumed.
  3. Should fit together, these things are supposed to be modular. That RX system is supposed to be so quiet, but I can't see how - it looks exactly the same as my Nur Spec R...
  4. The freeview standard is in a constant state of flux, so you probably need to buy new boxes, sorry. On the plus-side, once the analogue signals are switched off, there will be enough bandwidth for them to broadcast HD over freeview. Woo. (This means you'll need new boxes to cope with HD).
  5. I don't suppose you could post a picture straight down the exhaust tip could you? I'm curious to see how it's baffled compared to a Nur Spec R.
  6. It's more £££, but I read somewhere it can be worth replacing the entire hub assembly since the mating sufaces can get warped over time. Plus the process of pressing the bearings in and out can turn into a right old cock up.
  7. Don't SuperPro or someone do them? Couldn't they custom-make some, given the original parts to measure?
  8. Really? I've had at least two of them.

  10. If you can _save_ £100 for 4 drop links, that's about half the price. If they last only half as long, then that seems fair.

    The Tax Man

Intaxification - the feeling of euphoria you get from receiving a rebate cheque. Only lasts until you remember it was your money to begin with!
  12. You don't think that slicks on 10" wheels might give a little too much grip (if there can be such a thing!?!) Might be worth tapping the 'nums for info, since they've run slicks on circuit many times, albeit trackdays rather than race days.
  13. What they do is replace your standard electricity meter with one that effectively runs forwards when you draw power off the grid, and backwards when you push energy to the grid. So during a sunny day when you're creating lots of delicious electricity you'll probably be generating more than consuming, so the meter goes backwards, but only by the difference between what you generate and what you consume.
  14. You two look like you're starting a race team with those twinned cars! How's the new Donny layout? Jo and I are planning to go there later in the year.
  15. Is that where the 48 button killer combo involves getting a UN resolution?!?!
  16. Who knows...maybe I'll surprise you yet. I've been practising drinking tea and only pulling my trousers up half way! I like to know what we're dealing with, partly because I hate paying someone else to do stuff I could do myself, and partly so I don't get fleeced if I do end up paying for it. Also you know me - I'm at least partly interested in almost anything! I just like knowing stuff.
  17. Shameless plug: I have a Dreamcast in the loft, with the original packaging if anyone is into collecting these things.
  18. LOL yeah it was pretty foul the time we had a blocked toilet from plant-roots growing down there!!! Thanks for the advice everyone!
  19. It's a pit where several sewage pipes join up and make their merry way further down the system. Maybe. I probably read that term somewhere and assumed that was what it was called.
  20. Thanks for that. Obviously I need to take a closer look at what I'm dealing with, but to clarify, the confluence pit would be a separate unit to the cover?

    The next one..

Does that mean you're going then?
  22. So, we're thinking about changing our driveway and making it wider. The land we would be building on has several drain / manhole covers on it which shouldn't be a problem. However, because the land is on a slope, the drains were built at a jaunty 45 degree angle...not so convenient. We'll be building up the land with retaining walls obviously, but how hard is it to re-align a drain cover to sit fairly flat? The worst one is covering a fairly large confluence pit, so that might be interesting...
  23. I've got one being made right now by a neighbour who happens to own a metal fabrication workshop. I'll see how it turns out and see if the chap wants to make a few quid with a group buy.
  24. Get Bride rails from MVP - they bolt straight in, and arrive faster from the USA than the seats will arrive from Germany.
  25. Right there is your reason NOT to use leaky feeders - they are short range and not capable of penetrating rock (or thick walls I would guess). If you're having signal problems, use amplified aerials. Or put the APs closer to the users...under the floor perhaps, to keep the hotel looking nice What you need to do is a site survey to figure how much signal loss you get through the walls. That'll let you figure how many rooms a single AP can service before it loses signal and a neighbouring device has to take over.
