  1. Got my new dump valve fitted. I need to block off the old Toyota BOV and remove it altogether. Has anyone got any ideas how I do this or where I can get the bits to plug it up. ????? For the time being I have inserted screws into the old BOV pipes.
  2. Thanks for all your help folks. lookie at my new toy. Psssssssssssssssst
  3. Yo John, dunno anything about the BOV location In fact I havent got the foggiest idea When did u get back ? And shall we meet for a pint at Melton - get the lads together.......
  4. cheers Matt..... he he he he he:devil:
  5. So when Traction Control is disconnected, there is still TC gearing soaking up power? He reckoned that he didnt kick down, but he must have I suppose.............maybe..................perhaps.............sigh.......... god this hurts....................In a straight line...........on a dual carriageway, an auto is probably quicker unless the manual driver has Schumackers reflexes:cool:
  6. hmmmm. interesting. I am in a stock 6 speed, hes in a stock auto.
  7. Followed a mate tonite, also in a stock TT. He doesnt know this but when he went to turn off I couldnt keep up Now Ive only had the TT for 4 weeks and as I got home noticed that Slip Control was ON. Could this have made that much difference ??
  8. suggest U try another machine and compare
  9. Thats a tough one, here in Ipswich the best balancing machine I have found is at Trinity Tyres. Virtually all other tyre fitters here have cr*p balancing machines. Why not try another posting for Ntmptn Tyre Balancing Machines. Tyre balancing seems to be a service which is offered with very poor in-consistent results. A lot of these guys use old second-hand machines. On a powerful RWD motor, accurate REAR wheel balancing is critical, often forgotten about on FWD Mondeos, Astras, and Vectras.
  10. If the noise goes away after 90 mph its gotta be rear wheel balance. Get them super fine Balanced from a tyre specialist. If noise continues at +90 mph it could be bearings, prop shaft, diff, rear shocks, or low diff oil levels
  11. Rear wheels may need rebalancing
  12. Brilliant mate - the best pic yet - reckon I can manage to do the plumbing in now - thanks :)
  13. Got my new boost gauge which fits lovely into the clock. Where should I tap in for vacuum? Some one suggested the progressive power steering pipe? Has any on got any ideas? Pics would be gratefully received....... Also someone said that there was a grommet behind the clock which goes into the engine bay.........I cant see it.........is this correct ??

    manual vs auto

Nothing wrong with autos, Supra box box is one of the best autoboxes around, and as I said, in the wet the auto launches quicker with no spin. Anyway in an auto: On a hair pin corner, you cant really kick down and maintain full control and power at the apex of the bend and you cant really change down without the risk of sliding. Double de clutching: Enter hair pin corner in say 4th, approach apex of bend, brake, put into neutral, rev, put into second and there is a smooooth change down to 2nd with the max power band available. If you pratice this can be done really fast.

    manual vs auto

At the woodbridge speed trials the autos certainly pulled away smoothly with nil spin. I tried a manual at Santa Pod and just kept spinning and spinning. Had to pull away at an embarassing 2000 rpm. So if its a wet track the auto will win. However they are not as controllable round corners and rely on braking. You cant double de clutch an auto round a bend I love my 6 speed. The box is ultra-smooth, and non tractor-like despite claims otherwise from other owners - must be the way the car has been looked after. If lazy on country roads just keep it in 4th and there is a huge power band!! Point worth noting is that the Toyota Owners Manual quotes 58mph max speed in 2nd gear, but then you take off in 3rd which makes up for the extra 3rd 0-60 gear change. The manual box is supposed to be 1 second quicker vs auto in the 0-60 sprint including this third gear change!! So if the manual gear box went to 60 mph in 2nd, its 0-60 would be a gear change faster probably another full second - if you get what I mean. So in a 0-58 sprint a manual box could therefore be 2 secs quicker than an auto.
  16. Looking into a gauge Just want a cheapo to make sure I dont detonate WHATS THE DIFFERENCE IN PSI AND BAR ???? Have found a gauge that goes 0-35 psi ??? Wot does that mean as I know a TT should not exceed 1.2 bar
  17. if I over boost wont the stock fuel cut defender cut in ????? Its gonna take some time to obtain and install a boost gauge
  18. I have put in a second rear de-cat pipe (first pipe at front still stock) I dont have a boost gague Am I OK on boost??? Car seems to run fine Cheers:)
  19. my supe never worked on hills in snow any kind of hill the only way was to use reverse gear
  20. Youre probably correct there oh and hi
