  1. Promised I'd update this thread when I pulled the turbo link pipes, and I can confirm they were the cause of my issues. The car is now boosting like an absolute champion and lag is noticeably reduced with the turbos not having to work as hard to create boost. If anyone is having boost issues on their sequentials I'd recommend checking these. Jamesy
  2. I’d agree with that for sure, and I’d be starting with the VSV’s if they hadn’t been recently replaced. I’ve replacement link pipes here and will swap them out at the end of the month. I’m hoping the hotter temps might be making it harder for the first turbo to suck in enough air if its link pipe is restricting flow. Will update when I find out!
  3. I replaced the solenoids with new items, and if it was something electrical related to the sequential system I'd have expected to be seeing 0.6 bar from the first turbo. Suprajake seems to have had the exact same issue I'm having: Partially collapsed hose causing possible turbo issue?
  4. Bit of an odd one. 1995 BPU Jap Supra, running in current configuration for years. When the car is started from cold and I take it for a run everything is fine and it boosts strongly as expected to over 1 bar, however boost disappears if you end up in heavy traffic or park the car up for 30 minutes. Opening the bonnet to let the heat out helps when you park it up. So far I've replaced the vacuum lines and ruled out boost leaks, although not sure why that would only be an issue when the engine bay is heat soaked. I've also recently replaced all the VSV solenoids as the IACV went faulty last year and there was no boost from the second turbo, I replaced the EGCV and EBV solenoids as preventative maintenance at the time too. I don't think the issue relates to the pressure tank as there are no issues when there is no heat soak in the engine bay, and I'm only seeing 0.1 or 0.2bar (so does not seem to be an issue with the sequential system). When the issue occurs, If you manage a few miles at a reasonable speed to get some airflow through the engine bay, boost starts to come back, and oddly modulating the throttle around the midrange seems to help boost pick up - albeit to less than usual ( 0.8'ish bar). I've a suspicion the rubber corrugated turbo link pipes might be the issue, collapsing on the inside and choking the intake, more noticeable when the engine bay is hot and the pipes may be more supple: Is there anything else I should be considering? Thanks, Jamesy
  5. A bump on this thread, presume these are discontinued? Think my control unit might be on its way out. It's unlocking OK, but not locking. Car is garaged, so don't think it's related to temperature or damp.
  6. Could you purchase a RHD from the Republic of Ireland and register it in Romania? The Republic of Ireland are still in the European Union, and from what I've read OK to import RHD vehicles from.
  7. Hi Shammy, I've had my mk4 supra since 2004, before I ever bought a house. My Supra used to sit under a carport at my parents house until 2008 when I bought a house with a garage, I'm not sure the car would be in the condition it is today if it had been outdoors in the elements all these years. Good luck with your search!
  8. Was speaking to Chris Wilson and I've ordered seal kits and pistons from him, very helpful chap! James
  9. Going to give Chris Wilson a shout, thanks rider
  10. Yes, they seem to have gone up in price like everything else. Quoted £519 from Toyota for seal kits and pistons for UK calipers
  11. Thanks Annabella, will check them out
  12. Yeah, I see full repair kits listed on ebay for the four pot fronts and two pot rears. Just nervous about the hit and miss nature of ebay parts in general.
  13. Hi folks, My UK spec brakes are getting a bit sticky and intend rebuilding them. OEM rebuild kits and pistons are still available from Toyota, but they are quoting over £500 which seems a bit steep. Always a fan of OEM, but has anyone had success with aftermarket options? Thanks, James
  14. I've got all my OEM parts in the shed in case I ever want to put it back to standard
  15. Thanks for the advice folks. The look of an FMIC behind the standard front bumper started to grow on me and I pulled the trigger on a Whifbitz 4" FMIC kit, bit more of a pain to fit but it's not like you do it everyday. jamesy
  16. That's a work of art Chris. Noticed they have been going for around £500 used on here, so a new one will likely be more than I'd budgeted for.
  17. Whifbitz do have a reasonably priced kit with a 4" core which they also supply as part of one of their BPU kits, so presumably it's BPU friendly - I'm leaning towards this at the minute as I believe they've stock
  18. Hi folks, The OEM SMIC has seen better days on my MKIV, and I was going to replace it with another SMIC as the car is only BPU and I preferred to keep it OEM looking (although I'm warming to the idea of and FMIC). Contacted Whifbits about their SMIC and they are unsure when they'll be getting any more in due to covid delays, I've also heard @Chris Wilsondoes an SMIC - going on the Google hits! Would running an FMIC on stock turbos increase lag if I can't source an SMIC? I'm guessing an FMIC in decent condition will be better than my rotten SMIC though
