  1. Need someone who knows these engines inside out, upside down. Father-in-law has bought a spare twin cam engine and it has a very peculiar head. Need a serious anorak to tell us what it may be. If you fit the bill, let me know and i`ll post up the details.
  2. I advertised a Daihatsu Charade 1 litre on teletext a few years back. Bloke from Ireland called me and asked for an honest description, no messing. Did it, he said he`d have it and the next day i met him at East Midlands airport. He looked it over and gave me the full amount i was asking for and chucked me £20 for fuel and time. I could barely believe it as he drove off into the distance to go and catch a ferry. You just need to hope he isn`t a time waster.
  3. Hi Digsy, if you`re unsure whether it`s 1 or 1.25 pitch, once you have your taps then you can try them down the thread of the good caliper to be sure. Also if it`s the top of the thread that`s shafted then you can lightly grind the end of the bolt to flatten a bit of the thread to help it lead in. That`s if you have to notch a bolt by the way.
  4. I`m particuarly crap with computers but my mate sorted my computer for me and i know i now have Spybot, AVG and Zonealarm. Never had a single problem since.
  5. In my small experience i`ve found that the Japs are metric, and by golly they love their fine pitch threads. So without looking and i had to hazard a guess, i would say that M10 x 1mm sounds pretty good. If the thread is at the base make sure you use a bottom tap but if thats the case i don`t understand why the bolt won`t start? Are you sure it isn`t the bolt thats knackered? Incidentally, if the bolt would have started and you didn`t have a tap but you did have a spare bolt then you can cut a notch down the length of the bolt with a hacksaw and then run the bolt down then this will recut also. Although this should be used as a last ditch effort.
  6. I bought one off this board which was handy. This is because you can look at the history of their posts and see what questions they`ve asked people. If they`ve asked someone where the best place is to get their car straightened then you know to avoid. What isn`t so handy is to do what i did and not realise this valuable feature until i had bought the car, to then find out that the person that sold it you were talking from the rectum. Cost me a bit of money that:mad: But yes, definately something to consider.
  7. Try http://www.hlj.com and email them as they can sometimes source discontinued items or supply items not listed on their website. They`ve been helpful before when i`ve mailed them.
  8. Mine has 235/?/19 fr and 265/30/19 rr without any problems, and its decked:(
  9. 89.9p- Lincoln. In fact it doesn`t affect me as of today as the car is now in storage while i eat humble pie and admit to my wife that i`ve bitten off more than i can chew. May be a black TT6 for sale soon!
  10. Give yourself a better chance and use PlusGas instead of WD40. Its alot better and more likely to free it off. You could also chisel the nut off.
  11. My car had motorcycle size plates front and rear. The rear one had a piece of hardboard beneath it to fill the hole and was painted the colour of the car which looked bloody awful. On the recommendation of many people from here i ordered some plates from http://www.fancyplates.com. They do them made to measure. So i measured the hole and had the rear made to fill it. Photo attached.
  12. I`m in agreement. Why bother with gifts? The majority of people will probably bin it anyway. I shouldn`t bother, put the money towards running costs. My S800 Club membership costs £20 i think and my GTti membership is £25, so at a tenner no one should be expecting free gifts.
  13. I saw this for sale on Yahoo Japan and i think it is very sexy!?
  14. Thanks Chris, that should sort it.
  15. I`ve never had a car with a hydraulic clutch before so have never needed to know how to change the oil. Seeing as my TT`s clutch fluid looks `orrible i`m going to change it. My two questions are; 1. How to get the old fluid out? 2. How to bleed the system once the new fluids in? I`m guessing there is probably a bleed nipple near the peddle but i could be totally wrong. Anyone done this?
  16. 1. Chris Wilson once over and cambelt change 2. GReddy turbo timer
  17. Idiot! Sorry. http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m4b0s0p0
  18. After this weekend i`ll be taking the headlights out and stripping them to polish the lenses (J-Spec) and was going to paint the backs black to match the bodywork. I was just wondering if it affected the performance of the lights as it is reflective at the moment so i thought it might make it less bright which could be a problem seeing as the lights are fairly poor already.
  19. This may help someone although i`m not sure how good the prices are. Let me know if they are any good. As for the supplier, i have dealt with them for the last 5 years or so and they are very good and very helpful. If you phone them you want to be speaking to Mike and tell him you`re from here. Dave
  20. Glad you got it sorted. You definately can`t grumble with Tony`s prices. By the way Dan is convinced his RX7 is better than mine and always trying to get a rise out of me but the poor fellow has had a stroke of misfortune today as his engine is stuffed. The RX7 is so good that he has to spend 7 grand getting it rebuilt and going single so he can keep up with me!
