Thanks again folks Got the hire car sorted for one week, so should have transport until next Friday. Unfortunatly as it's very likely the car will be written off I will have to hand the car back as soon as they send a cheque. This means I will be without a car for the easter weekend.. the time when I'm suposed to be visiting my sister and father in hospital (and also hopefully seeing my new niece)

She's with Direct Line, they have been superb so far. Very professional on the phone and sorted out a courtesy car in an hour of contacting me. NIG (through Sky) were helpful at the beginning getting the car recovered but today were absolutely shocking on the phone. One person I spoke to was possibly the rudest person I've ever encountered at a call centre
Sorry mate, but this sort of thing really gets on nerves. Frivolous injury claims are one of the reasons we're having to pay more for car insurance now than ever. Apart from a couple of bruises I wasn't hurt at all.
What was amazing today was that everyone I spoke to said I should make a claim for personal injury (3 people at the hire car company and even one at NIG - presumably because it was the other company paying). Even the Direct Line person seemed surprised when I said I was fine.
