  1. Nice try guys The single bits aren't much good, they're just junk parts I held on to. This is staying stock TT (or BPU) for the foreseeable future, it's going to be enough work to get it to road-legal and satisfactory condition as it is. I won't be adding a single build on top of that in the time frame of this thread Steve, quite honestly, if you can help me get this car running you're more than welcome to take that set of TTE wheels as a very small thanks. They would look awesome on your car once they've had a refurb
  2. Me neither, but I do have a LOT of supra parts, an entire garage and loft full, Christ knows what else is lurking in the packing crates
  3. Door wiring is now patched back together, the aftermarket speaker wires are removed and everything is returned to stock. Patched the moisture seal back in and did a small repair, they're actually in good condition. Fitted some replacement speakers in the stock pods and installed the door card. Windows are now fully working along with the door locks, etc. Simple job but still took 2 hours! Johnny had a lot of sound proofing done on the car and the doors close with a satisfying clunk, such a difference to stock. Also replaced one of the A-pillar plastics but the other is badly damaged, a replacement is on it's way. Small steps but getting there... Next big job is to replace the wiring bay loom, so that'll be done over the weekend if the weathers reasonable. Edited to add, the car came with nearly all the screws and bolts missing, so I'm having to rob ones off the daily and do it half and half. Will complete it when the daily is stripped... Also found a huge box of spare TT parts from when I did my old single conversion including a set of turbo's I forgot I had. These should save a fair bit when replacing all the rusty and corroded bits on this engine. Good job I'm a parts hoarder 2nd edit, also found a single turbo manifold, T61 turbo, downpipe, 650cc, 550cc & 440cc injectors, aftermarket fuel rail, aeromotive FPR, ultra rare big faced HKS boost gauge and a shed load of lines and other single parts. I don't even remember where I got this stuff from!
  4. The w58 I had was from another supra and the plug was exactly the same as on the auto loom. I didn't need to change anything with the speed sensor, simply plugged it in and everything worked as it was intended My guess is your w58 isn't from a MKIV supra.
  5. Thanks but I already bought and installed some
  6. In the end I mailed Curt from Elmhurst Toyota in the US (probably one of the most knowledgeable Supra parts person on the planet), turns out these come with the engine harness and are not sold separately. I'll have to go with something aftermarket, thanks for the links above.
  7. Cheers guys Yeah it looks a bit gunky inside, I'll have a better look when I change the cam cover gaskets Thanks mate, I'll definitely give them a try once the cars on the road, they're only a couple of miles down the road
  8. Exactly, no amount of work can replace a proper hard top. I hate the way my current aero handles, with the roof off it's a joke to drive I'm looking forward to being in a hardtop again soon...
  9. Even Toyota can't seem to locate this, so hopefully someone can help here... I'm after the grey clips that secure the ignition wiring loom to the coil pack supports. Pic below
  10. That sounds like a plan, better check with the missus but I expect it's okay, she thinks he's a "hotty" apparently
  11. Thanks dude, that's very kind of you to offer I actually need to visit Craig though and have a route around his parts as he has quite a few little bits I need. I'll pass on the offer but thanks anyway
  12. If the belt is in very good condition I'll take that mate Not sure if the Aristo cable will fit, can't say I've heard of using one before on a Supra. PM sent
  13. The all important and rare VVTi engine bay loom is now sourced from Keron. Not cheap this one but they are rare as hens teeth. Also received the coil packs from Marc_p, thanks mate, very much appreciated, they're like new Also ordered brand new coil pack mounts, screws and clips from Toyota, again not cheap but they're impossible to find 2nd hand. I'm also going to have a go at refurbing the alternator as they're impossible to find 2nd hand. All that should be here by Friday so I'm hoping to have another day on the car this Saturday. It's going to be a long job to replace the bay loom but it's the best way forward. Now I am just working on the parts list.. I have sourced the following so far: - Tranny tunnel (need to order from Toyota, can't be bothered dealing with a 2nd hand one) - Clutch master (possibly from Dr Jekyll) - Clutch slave (possibly Dr Jekyll) - Clutch line (will order the braided one posted earlier in this thread) - 5spd gearbox (already own, need to pick up from Dr Jekyll) - Clutch (Should be a puck one with the gearbox, so need to pick up) - Engine crane - Plugs and all fluids for the service - Auxiliary belt And I still need to find: - 5spd Flywheel (need to source one, not going to buy new) - Brake, clutch and accelerator pedals - TT throttle cable - Facelift rear lights and loom - Stock or TRD spoiler - OEM style Recaro seats - New steering wheel - A good panel beater to repair the rear hatch! and probably lots more as I'm sure there's more issues to come So far I've spent about £480 on top of the price of the car but I can easily see another £1k going into it.
  14. Scott, that intercooler looks exactly the same as the one on my project car, it's tiny. Do you know what make it is? I'm thinking of changing mine but have no idea what it is, there's no stamp marks at all. Your one is the first I've seen that looks the same
  15. Nice work Rob, always a pleasure reading the updates to this thread
  16. It won't fit without a massive bonnet mod or shifting the gearbox back (Ryan.G track car esq). plus the weight of those things would ruin he handling. I looked into this many years ago. The audi/lambo V10 route would be quite awesome in a supra, but then you still have RWD only. It'd sound awesome though

    BPU questions

Is it a JDM or US GTE engine you have installed? I assume from the JDM ECU it's a JDM engine so you just need to have a read here: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?94705-BPU-(Basic-Performance-Upgrade)
  18. This I don't know for sure yet... The wiring tracks are different between the facelift and pre-facelift and obviously the indicators wires are different (very simple to correct though). I am doing some more checks today on the looms to see if a pre-facelift will work but it's a little bit guesswork so far. That's an engine loom, I'm after the engine BAY loom which connects the foot well connector boxes (and engine ECU) to the fuse box
  19. Good info Sorry to hijack, but is the NA and TT alternator the same for auto and manual respectively? I.e. NA 5spd the same as 6spd TT? I'll also give that company a try Scooter
  20. Thanks guys Really pleased we got it running today, it was more tricky than I was expecting but at least I think (hope!) we found the real cause of the problem now. Steve did most of the work (and thinking) today, I just turned bolts here and there Thanks mate but I think I will try elsewhere for it... Thanks Jamie, I had an idea Lee had seen the car but didn't realise he had to recify some issues with the wiring. It really is a mess and you saying it was mounted upside down (WTF!) doesn't surprise me. No wonder it's so corroded. Yeah, I had some thoughts about trying to repair it, it'll be quicker but there's so many issues it'll only lead to problems further down the line. The difficult part now is finding a facelift bay loom, they're pretty darn rare. I also think you're right about trying a refurb on the alternator, they don't seem to be very common so it may well work out quicker to fix what's there. Glad it made you smile Jason, it wasn't all that difficult to get it running, just checking basic things and repairing what we found. It must have taken 3 hours of real work to get it from the state it arrived to running again, how the garage didn't manage it in that time is amazing. Steve and I aren't in the trade, I work in IT and Steve runs a security company
  21. The good news first - It lives! The bad news is we found a lot of problems with the engine bay loom (not the engine loom), it has had a wire tuck done and this has a caused a LOT of problems. It also looks like at some point someone has been careless with a knife and partially cut through many of the fuse box wires, these were mostly partially connect but several split after attempt to unwrap the loom. It's beyond repair so I'll need to source and entire new bay loom with fuse box. Also, when we removed the fuse box and several other components that had been tucked away every one of them had corrosion showing evidence of water penetration. Folks, please be careful when you do wire tucks, it's not a good idea to have such critical items outside the relative dry of the engine bay! First of all, here's the video of the 1st start as promised [video=youtube_share;s-032JaiqwI] Steve and I spent over an hour trying to figure out why the fuel pump wasn;t running, after checking all the fuses and relays no problem could be found. The voltages were checked at various points on the car but we kept seeing erractic figures at the pump, sometimes no voltage other times 12v, but it also changed constantly. Eventually Steve suggested we pull the fuse box and have a look, this is where we think we have identified the cause with the split and exposed wires. Some pics: 1) Front end stripped off and the IC pipes temporarily connected up: 2) Corrosion caused by the wire tuck and water penetration: 3) At some point in it's past (probably before the garage Jason had work on it), someone has been a bit careless with the loom Just some of the bare wires and splits: So, next up is to source a new engine bay loom and alternator then get those fitted and try again As always, huge thanks to Steve for giving up his afternoon to help troubleshoot this. I'd never have got this far so quickly without his help today
  22. Checking the ECU pinouts it looks like there are only 2 wires going to the ECU for the fuel pump system, both the same pins for UK and jspec, so I might be okay in terms of ECU inputs... So, just need to figure out what the others wires are doing and where they should go
