    M.O.T time

I dropped my car off this morning for it's mot and it passed :-) well happy now I can finally get my rebuilt engine broken in. Cant wait it's been a long 16 months with no supra!
  2. Ha ha I've already done that twice :-) finally managed to sort it although cut my arm up getting to the the White little box :-)
  3. that was the first thing i did :-(
  4. Ok ive searched the forum for the answer but have not had any luck. I've been fitting a do-luck bumper today, got it almost 100% then closed the bonnet to see if it all lined up. went to pull the lever to open it back up and its very slack. I've taken off the bonnet pull lever, and used some plyers to pull on the cable but that didnt work. As i've got a FMIC i cant even get my hand up to where the white little box is. I can get the left side of the bonnet open a little and see the latch is over the hook, i used a very long screw driver to try and push the latch while lifting the corner of the bonnet up but that didnt work. Any one have any iideas. Im starting to wonder if ill ever get the car back on the road, meant to have the MOT tomorrow
  5. It's a rad cap. I'm on my phone so can't upload photos at the moment.
  6. Let it run for another ten minutes with the cap on and it stayed half way again. Plus I now have some heat from the heaters in the car so well happy. Thanks Chris. Still no fan kicking in tho but with test that with a second hand one I have kicking around ;-) time to get bumper on and lights and go for a drive :-)
  7. Ok went back down to the car the level in the rad had dropped a little so topped it up. Started the car up and let it idle for over ten minutes with the rad cap off, only topping up the level a couple of times. The temp gauge slowly went up but didn't go above half way like it had before. No sign of boiling eithet. Still had the heaters in the car on and up but the inside did not heat up. Also after the engine was turned off the fan didn't kick in. Letting it cool down again now. Should I put cap back on and see what happens??? :-)
  8. Ok cool will have a go tomorrow. Thanks for the advice :-)
  9. Ok after it's been on idle for 3 or four minutes the temp gauge starts going up steadily to over half way and further which is when I then turn off the engine. Mods to the car apart from the rebuild is a new rad and fmic and a second hand air con rad. All fans are still present and havnt been remove. Also top hose is polished hard pipe. No other sign of any leaks other then a slight drip from the sensor located in the rad.
  10. Ok after reading up on how to get the air out of the system i find the car is still over heating, i have found a small leak from where the sensor fits into my rad is it worth replacing this sensor and could this be the cause. I've read loads of threads but still not sure!!!anyone have the code for this sensor so i can order a new one please????
  11. Blitz rad cap £10 delivered only just brought this but a TRD one came up so got it to match my TRD oil cap!
  12. After being Ill for the last ten days I finally got out of me pit and into the garage, started her up, all the smoke went after 5 mins and all the warning lights stayed out and theres no leaks so I'm well happy, also forgot how good she sounded :-) The only problem I've got now is over heating. Guess I have some air in the system as it's a new rad :-) but I'm almost there now!!!
  13. Out of interest how much do these cost new, and where can you get one??
  14. Not reAly sure think it was black and smelt like burning!!!! Cheers wiggy may before as need my boost controller fitted ;-)
  15. Cheers Chris and the others who said it was the crank sensor! Got under the car and found a clip taped up from when I painted the block. It was a pain in the back side to get to but once free and connected the car started :-) so well happy. Got someone coming to look at it tomorrow, on start up tho there was some smoke coming from the back of the engine :-( so turned it straight off!!!
  16. I've had a look around but can't find anything to clip it into?? Where should it be?? Cheers
  17. Cheers for the comments guys been really helpfull:-) after trying several different things i thought id just have a look around all the clips etc just to make sure there all on and then i find this?? not sure what it is or where it goes, hopfully this is my problem but for now ive had enough and going to bed lol.
  18. Yeah did it myself with the help of my brother in law who's built loads of engines for his track cars. Found a few threads so fingers crossed. If that doesn't work I'll be posting in the technical section :-( Cheers wiggy might drop you a pm ;-)
