could that be causing a knocking noise, where the pistions are hitting the valves. also the belt has a little give, is that how it could it jump a tooth?? Think im guna have to phone the garage in the morning!! only thought id look meself as garage is realy busy!

also ive just noticed that when you line the timing belt up instead ofbeing on 0 its on 5 take it thats not normal???? The cam cover gaskets are fine not cracked or broken at all!!!

Ok need some help here, was having a look to find the loud rattle at the front of the car ive taken the cover off the engine and taken the plugs out to do a Compression test, the front 2 i'm getting 150 psi middle two around 120 and the other 2 140 psi, also the three at the back are dripping in oil!!! what sort of pressure should i be getting??? now when turning it over no loud noise, also lots of oil at rear of engine but cant see where its coming from. any ideas??? had a search on site but cant find it!!! car is a TT auto. cheers

Im very sad!! My car has died :-( i found out why my car was making a loud knocking noise, looks like a valve as possibly snapped off in the engine. Turns out a blown fuse has stopped my oil light from coming on........... and yes as no light came on i carried on driving it until there was no more oil!!!! [sAD][/sAD] so now what do i do as cant tell what damage has been done! new engine, scrap or rebuild??????

Yeah had me head in the engine bay, and under but cant see a thing, there is no oil or water leak, and have no crap cuming out of the exhaust, but its very loud and sounds as tho its cuming from the top of the engine under the cover at the top. It only started the other day and it was quite at first. I did go over a pot hole on the motorway the other day and thought shit, but surely that would damage engine would it???? phoned garage up that i use and they said not to drive it!!! its a tt

Ok so ive just brought a new front bumper and sides, and saved some money for a full respray and bang...... i now have a very loud rattle and bangin noise cuming from the engine bay. Do i keep the faith and get it repaired what it is which could cost x amount of £££ or do i get rid???
