  1. I am struggling to see what identifies the back bumper as UK spec? I know the rear lights bit and the headlight washers, bigger brakes, bonnet scoop, proper actual leather back seats, beige leather, but back bumper? Me no see it?
  2. Yeah there is a signal that goes specifically to the ODO but I can't remember which wire. The TRL speedo conversion instructions should tell you though http://homepage.ntlworld.com/peter.betts/supra/TechTips/speedo.htm
  3. AH! I noticed only 1 red wire at the aerial end. Is there meant to be two? Maybe there is something that is not connected that will explain my lack of reception. Further ahah moment of realisation has occurred!! I have no in-line amplifier hence only one red wire lol. Doesn't quite explain why I have better reception from a short length of wire stuffed in the radio's antenna hole than the actual aerial. Must still have a disconnect of some sort.
  4. I know in Volvo's and range rovers you can code a new key by the key in the ignition or door lock so many times this way and that. Is there any magic like this on a supra if I got a replacement key fob?
  5. Between the coax cable that plugs into the bottom of the aeriel and where it goes into the back of the stereo, but if there is a capacitor or something else on the line then maybe that's why there is no continuity.
  6. That's still there but what would it's purpose be as the stubby S2000 ariel has been installed?
  7. I didn't try that Chris. I shall now, especially as there may be a second red wire I didn't know about on the stubby conversion.
  8. People do UK brake upgrades week in week out. Those callipers must go somewhere? I'm swapping mine out in a couple of weeks but I guess that's way too far off. You can get replacements from the place I picked up my offside uk spec calliper for £84 yes that's £84 plus vat for a factory re-manufactured calliper. http://brakeparts.co.uk/#page=parts&pageSection=BHF&mancode=TOYO&brand=TOYOTA&model=SUPRA&modelversion=SUPR*(93-01)+JZA80+-+3.0+NON+TURBO+IMPORT So in fact this one is £84 including VAT!!! Why even think about an unknown condition second hand calliper? Flabbergasts me!!
  9. Could you not just get a 2jz-ge engine dropped in it? Those cost pennies and have about the same power.
  10. Stock what amp though? Surely not the ariel amp? It's only got one co-ax in and a whole bunch of other wires in a large white plug. Surely an ariel amp would only need a coax in and out and a power and earth line? Might explain why my radio doesn't work.
  11. Do all supra's come with remote central locking? Ours didn't come with a remote key. There is a box under the passenger seat that I think is a remote locking ECU that I doubt would be there if it was not featured. It has a co-ax cable going into it and I first thought it was related to the radio ariel but there is only an input and no output so unlikely to be an ariel amplifier. I have also just found a red plastic card under the drivers seat that says it is a code card with a number on it. it's also got meta system embossed on it. Can you get replacement fobs for the remote locking and use a code or get the fob coded?
  12. SO I have had no reception on the radio since I bought the car. It's had a full body respray with every panel and trim piece off. I checked for continuity between the ariel cable at the head unit end and at the point it plugs into the ariel itself and not a jot, yadda. So question?? Is there a disconnect point anywhere between the head unit and the ariel itself that could have been left undone when the respray was done? Are there any pinch points along the cable that could easily have snapped? I have half a mind to run a new cable through but would like to save myself the bother if it's an easy fix.
  13. One of these was on my car when I bought it and radio reception is almost non existent. Occasionally we'll get a strong signal but other than that nowt. Need to have a scout and see if the signal booster is even there I guess.
  14. Or just buy some new ones from Toyota through steve manley or factory refurbs that are available for the same money that people on here ask for donkeys years old second hand crap! http://brakeparts.co.uk/#page=basket&pageSection=BHF&mancode=TOYO&brand=TOYOTA&model=SUPRA&modelversion=SUPR*(93-02)+JZA80+-+3.0+TWIN+TURBO+COUPE that lot also do all of the refurb kits
  15. You didn't think that perhaps supraforums was a better place to ask this question being as there's several thousand miles between the two nations?
  16. Glad I bought our mint N/A aerotop when I did now or you might have snapped it up
  17. There's two supras at Hamble GE and at least one of them is on this forum Red one as he's got a sticker in the back quarterlight
  18. See you didn't say the min had to be your own perceived min price and not the actual min price that I've seen them sell for (not advertised but actually sell for). There's some proper crocks of shoot out there and they take some low prices but to stick your head in the sand and say they don't exist is a bit unrealistic. Proper bargains regularly pop up and the astute amongst the fraternity spot them and nab them up like the £5k aerotop TT that went in Nottingham tail end of last year. There has also been a couple of UK spec peaches sell fairly cheap lately as well. I remember a post years back from Chris Wilson stating the ridiculously low prices he'd seen supras at in the trade.
  19. If its a wreaker then for sure take it back.
  20. Bless you some of those numbers are a bit off!! Manual TT6 Min £7.5k Ideally £9k Auto TT Min £4k Ideally £6k NA5 Min £2k Ideally £3k NA Auto Min £1K Ideally £2.5K You boys need to take a look at the current market situation FFS. There are a lot of motors out there that need a bit of work that are going uber cheap. If you advise someone that a given car is worth X value when the average is below that, then there is a significant danger that this person might buy a miss described "bargain" because it appears cheap by our valuations not realising that the vehicle is over priced for its actual value.
  21. Well that does stand to reason! If you could develop a slightly larger 10% maybe turbo or there is one already like alluded to earlier a CT20 with a trim and strength that made it more efficient and or capable of pushing more pressure reliably then the twin setup could be used to squeeze a bit more out of. Ageing valve bits and all the complicated gubbins that go on a TT would be a very weak point and replacing this kit with new stuff would with the cost of the tubby kits more than likely prove completely cost prohibitive over a small single setup that because of the competitive market is now rather on the cheap side, especially if you consider that the cheap part of a single conversion is the metal bits you stick on the hot side of the engine, the bit that costs the money is adding the additional required fuel in properly.
  22. By the looks of it just cut the hole in the plastic and the rest is plug and play dude. Sort of what I intimated with the pictures above. Didn't know the resistors were different so buying a steering wheel with a stalk on it already from another car means the stalk from that car wont work. Also picking up on an angular issue resolved by using a facelift model cruise stalk? All semantics really as I don't have cruise control and even if I did I wouldn't use it as any car I've ever had with it I didn't like it due in no small part to the fact that people don't drive at a constant speed ever!
  23. The Lexus IS one has that stalk on it so they are out there so you can see in that picture that the stalk just secures to the steering wheel with a couple of screws. There is a hole in the plastic at the back for the stalk to come through. And if you look at this one you'll see that there are holes where your cruise control stalk should bolt up.
  24. I'd imagine that a Celica would be more likely to have cruise control as standard than an MR2 would. Looking on Ebay at a celica it has the same steering wheel I just fitted and say it has cruise control so it would appear that the cruise control switch stuff is in the control column not with the steering wheel. Only way to really tell is by looking at your own car and seeing where the cruise control is. I do however also recollect seeing a thread about fitting a different Toyota steering wheel and having to trim something to keep the cruise option. Yup it can be done as suprasstore in the US retail the bad boys for $450 robbing gits! I see the stalk now and where it goes. From memory all you need to do is cut the plastic trim on the back of the steering wheel to accommodate it.
