  1. That's the sort of news that could change your plans for the do luck eh craig?
  2. Mmmmm! I think you'll find that paying attention to your environment and driving properly is all you'll ever need to prevent being caught driving too fast! Where to start? Roads you've never driven on before? Don't exceed the limit unless you can clearly see no hazards and I include speed traps in this group! Absorb as you drive. See everything in front and behind. Allow nothing to distract you. I don't even speak when I'm driving. Know your vehicle intimately (I don't mean sex it) learn your cars capabilities and both yours and your vehicles limits in as safe a ,anger as you can. Lastly before I rant right on put yourself outside your car and imagine how others would view how you've just driven and use that in your future driving career!
  3. Single man rooms these days so at least you are spared the additional embarrassment of public bumming
  4. Insurance? Technically it's the same engine so you wouldn't necessarily declare it?
  5. If you could mate the donk up to the box cheap enough it would work out cheaper than doing a getrag upgrade. Wouldn't make the windows, air con or any of the other electrics work any better, and suspension parts would snap like chicken bones still as well.
  6. There are a couple of honda S2000's with them in and also an offroader that went up one of the big mountains, not sure if it was a part of the Himalaya's or not. You see quite a few transplants over in the aristo forum as the aristo front clip is significantly cheaper than a supra and I love this dig but the supra basically has an aristo engine in it as it was in the Aristo a year before the supra in both normal and VVTi form.
  7. What I am not seeing anywhere here is where you are getting the lump sum to buy the car in the first place? If you are having to borrow the money and being relatively new to the credit market then I wouldn't expect you to be getting a decent rate against a car loan. So if you look at the cost of the cheapest TT being around £5k and you are potentially buying trouble in that range if you buy the wrong-un, you still need to pay that £5k off. If you put it on the forever/never you'll still be losing £150 or more from your monthly disposable income. I currently bash in 84 miles a day to get to work and I've ended up opting for a beemer diesel as petrol motors just don't cut it over that distance. BTW did you get an insurance quote for 18k miles per year? It is a fantastic idea in principal but I myself despite being totally in love with 2jz-gte's would not consider driving that distance weekly without significantly more disposable cash than I have now and I am no pauper! I have an opportunity to take a job earning double what I do now which may well see me back in a supra but without that job I'll stick with the beemer as a tank of 60 litres lasting me 650 miles is so much easier to live with than a tank of 60 litres making me 280 miles at best!! I tried to have a cheap 2jz-gte by buying an aristo mk2 and sticking it on gas which worked quite well for a while until I ended up on a really crap contract and couldn't afford to make the payments on it so was forced to sell it. Previously I went down the single turbo route that I just had to have and after it emptied my bank account of close to £20k I ended up selling it with a broken gearbox for £4k. Sh*t happens in life, FWIW with those miles to drive look for a decent, quick, modern diesel motor and enjoy your drive to work without freaking over wether or not you can afford to get to work or not!
  8. Could you not get some bar and knock them up yourself? It really is very simple to do and tap and die sets are not expensive. You'll always have the set then and they are very useful for tidying up slightly damaged threads?
  9. What more history is there chap? It was imported by JIC imports the Jurgen of his day. Roy bought it from there. I bought it from him and had it for like 18 months. Gruggs bought it from me and he stripped it virtually as soon as he bought it and it never went on the road again so essentially two owners. It had a minor frontal altercation when Roy had it which is why it had a UK spec front bumper and TRD bonnet on it and it had a minor parking impact in my ownership when a builder stuck his tailgate through the passengers door and scraped the rear quarter. These altercations were both fixed at professional body shops and were cosmetic panel fixes. Every issue the car has ever had is documented on this forum. Roy thought he had turbo problems that I finally diagnosed as an over filled auto box dripping oil on the hot exhaust. I had an issue with the roof leaking that transpired to be a badly adjusted drivers window. The SAFC that was fitted didn't like it if you left the car sitting for weeks on end and would play up the ignition other than that it was my all time most favourite car I ever owned. I did harbour dark thoughts about buying that shell back myself but just couldn't have found the time to sort it out. Let me know when you've finished it as I've toyed with the idea of a V8 aerotop myself lol.
  10. The supra buddy. M125 MYV. I bought it from a chap on the forum called ROY who imported it via the former JIC http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?20806-your-input-required-plz&highlight=sale I then sold it to Gruggs who sold it on to kenblockseal
  11. The Asian comments have tarnished the content of this "WitchHunt" but unfortunately it would appear that the gentlemen in question are charachterisable as described. I hate to point it out though but there are plenty of "dodgy" Asians just as there are plenty of "dodgy" Caucasians Par Example David Cameron!!!! People get a feeling for how they are being treated, if on a whole they feel like they are being ignored, or not paid attention to they will move their buying power elsewhere. You can make some money from limited service but cheap. If you really want to make proper money you need to provide amazing service with good products. Dodgy assed supra's and other imports is sooo not IT these days. Specialist imports hold money, the next round of GTRs holds money. 4x4'S have a market but in reality older assed japside supra's have had their day a long time ago.
  12. Ease of driving and all round driving experience is second to none in either the N/A or TT. The car because its auto and for its day Un-surpassed performance wise as an auto is sublime to drive. Like I said previously they handle very well for a car of it's size and if you put decent tyres on them they will out handle smaller niftier cars like lotus elises when pushed. I know this because I've race tracked both an N/A and TT on open days with very positive results. The clincher I think will not be the performance driving or comfort as I know that will bowl you over! The clincher will be the roof and if or how easy you can stow it. FWIW one day I left my roof in loose and the mrs 7 months pregnant got in and drove it without realising and had it pop out and fly off on a dual carriageway. She had to run up the road before it got run over and pick it up from the road and fit it back on the car in rush hour traffic!! Not ideal but yes the roof can be man or in this instance pregnant woman handled if necessary but I stand by the statement that it would be better for a couple of women or a man to take the roof off and stow it. With a bit of practice a smaller woman could stow the roof for sure and prove me a condescending Git LOL.
  13. Er what?? Companies do not get dissolved without quite a lot of effort or quite alot of lack of effort ie significant periods of non-trading/response to contact. I've dissolved 2 companies and in both cases it was a hell of a lot of effort. On the flip-side creating a company takes about 30 minutes using any number of company creation services. Either you have a crap accountant, crap advise, or you are blowing even more smoke!! FWIW I believe that you are utterly full of shit and not to be trusted in any way shape or form!! If you really had what most people describe as a showroom you'd have had pictures up of it days ago. They would also look better than a car park and a couple of concrete rooms! If you were genuinely out selling 10 times the rest of the country you'd have the cash to close this forum down just like happened to the volvo forum a couple of years ago when they bad mouthed a dodgy trader. Considering how many cars you say you sell I am stunned that you can't find one buyer that will back you up on this forum or any other! Jurgen for a tenth of your sales could if he rustled up some support provide at least 50 if not more willing recommendation and he is IMO now an expensive importer! Keighley imports had a pile em high sell em cheap thing going on but eventually they got a rep they deserved as well. Show us some positive feedback and answer the questions asked or SOD off and sell to the unaware!!
  14. So what do we have so far? Some pictures of A yellow silvias roof lining etc. A picture of a guy standing next to a bentley and a line of cars with a banner strapped on a railing that could be done in any car park in reality. A few photo's of up to 5 supra's in a not particularly well lit garage style concrete building with limited lighting down a difficult to find access road somewhere. Hardly what I would call a "showroom". What do we have against? Alot of people with not alot of good things to say about actual contact experiences with the aforementioned company that rubbishes their customer service rep. On top of that examples of a non honoured warranty issue that rubbishes the warranty. Add to that issues that connect them to other companies of ill repute and IMO they are struggling to show credibility. Throw in a bit of confusion over an allegedly heavily repaired vehicle being sold as 100% pucca and you can see a sinking ship on the horizon. I'm definitely not convinced by any of the answers offered so far. Thing is in reality a war of attrition across the entire internet including on the piston heads site won't stop A rogue trader from selling cars as a large amount of people do not check anything when they go buy a car as long as the ad looks good. If you want a real result it would probably be a good idea if the Mods from this forum and the others that have suspicions contact those of piston heads and ask them to police their advertising network and get one of their members to pay this establishment an impromptu visit. That would in the minimum remove one avenue of proffering their wares!
  15. I've had 2 aerotops one N/A one TT. The stock J-spec N/A suspension is actually relatively soft, remember it is a GT tourer in factory form! The roof can be a bit tricky for the shorter lighter weight individual and whereas it isn't that heavy it is quite an awkward size. For the sake of the paint finish and headlining the other half would be better off having help to lift it into the boot! Space in the back is also relative. Anyone that is driving and is tall is going to negate the rear seat behind themselves irrespective of which targa top car you buy. With the front seats pulled up a bit forwards children up to teenagers should be comfortable enough for a couple of hours, adults maybe for an hour. It is a bit claustrophobic in the back there mainly because the rear quarter windows are blacked out in most and the roof cuts down quite a lot in the back, that said with the roof off it opens it right up and makes the whole back seat experience so much better. I expect it is the exact same in the 300ZX though. When I was looking at both cars donkeys years back there were two factors that made me get a supra. The first being the poor reliability record of the 300ZX the second being the flimsy poor quality and outdated interior of the 300ZX in comparison to the supra. The supra interior is like being in a cockpit the 300's is like being in a nissan bluebird! If you are looking for more space in the back then I expect you'll have to invest in another complete drop head motor though. As an occasional jolly trip motor especially with the roof off
  16. It sometimes comes down to where you drive though, the roads I drive on now are desperately bad. I recently browsed through the supras for sale section as I really want another one but I just can't do it. I ended up making the only decision I could and spent the TT money on a diesel beemer! I haven't the time or energy for a second car as the two "second" cars already sat on my drive doing nothing attest to. I think as the economy bites hard less and less people can afford the luxury of running a weekly smoker and a second weekend car, alot of people get bored of doing 500 or more miles a week in shed heaps etc etc. The cost of fuel is probably the biggest killer of desire for these cars though. I'd love to let the heart rule the head but I am sick of shortening my spine on every pothole, and wincing every time a truck comes the other way, or scowling at a sh*t covered car when I only drove to work and back. I also don't have time to drive a car at a weekend that I have to work a saturday over-time to pay for the additional tax, MOT, Insurance and modding purchases that are inevitable with a supra. Head wins for me and hearts sulks like a 4 year old having a strop
  17. You want some pull up fasteners of some sort. The size of those fasteners is very large. That means you will need a very big gun to pull them up. Last time I checked guns big enough to pull that size fastener were massive prices. You can rent guns like that but again be prepared for some cost rapeage! You could produce a very similar effect by getting hold of the right sized Hi-Loks and taking the anodized coat off the collar and laquering the collars post fit.
  18. Now you are on about Hi-Loks or Hi-Lites. You need access to the back of the job to put them in. They are extremely strong fasteners used when you are not expecting to have to remove the fastener as opposed to nuts and bolts when you may have to remove them for maintenance activity.
  19. WHY? You could just drill a hole and nut and bolt it on with lovely chromium headed bolts from B&Q's bathroom dept if that is your requirement
  20. No No and more NOOOO!! If you fit countersink rivets correctly you will never know they are even there! By the looks of it our Craig is the man that can sort you right out with the rivets you need. Now you just have to hire the appropriatte equipment to pull em down.
  21. You should take a look at LAMs project aristo on the aristo forum. He had a London company cut his arches and fit a welded in place body extension. It was an awesome job and as its welded steel will never show crack lines where dodgy plastic bonds to metal.
  22. 4-03 4-04 countersink cherry max rivets should in theory cover most 2 sheet thick automotive applications. You would of course have to countersink the plastic so it sat flush. Drill size is 3.2mm or 1/8th inch, keep a decent edge distance of 7mm from the edge to the middle of the drilled hole and maintain a spacing of between 3/4" and 1" and you will have aviation grade joints ish.
  23. Mate this country has become so "Can't do/Won't do" that we are quite literally refusing to work. I am out of a job basically because the company I work for have applied virtually any and every rule you can imagine on my project and rendered us incapable of actually operating. The Spanish however have the nouse to understand that Can't do= unemployed so Can do no matter how many corners you have to cut off = getting the job. The finished product will definitely not be as good but it will be delivered and on time not like any product you try and make in this Godforsaken country. I don't reckon that the indiginous working population will be happy until they are all to a person on benefits!!!!
