  1. I've popped back on a nostalgic trip down vehicle memory lane. I have so far discovered that 2 vehicles that I used to own and love (potentially more than my children) have been stripped and sold as parts I almost purchased this particular vehicle myself when it first came up in Japan for export (the chop job on the roof put me off). I have gone back through the whole start to finish build thread and still believe that the colour it came in to the country was the best colour its been (for me white lends itself towards a cheap tupperware appearance). Given the current strength in the supra market this motor must now finally be worth the vast fortunes (pun intended) that have been pushed in to it.
  2. I sold out my N/A aerotop a couple of years back intending on buying back in to a TT aerotop with BPU mods like my original car from many years ago when I reduced my annual mileage below 20k. I couldn't even get my N/A back now as its doubled in value from the £4.5k I sold it for let alone a TT with BPU on it. Its not just supras that have gone crazy - skylines have gone even more crackers. Supras never held the prices up like NSX's did because of the amount of jap imports that flooded the market - I would predict that NSX prices will head from daft money up to ludicrous soon I will look at Porsche instead as they are dropping in price like the supra did when I owned them and are becoming more affordable than supra's are. That said there is a pretty nice looking single aristo on ebay at the mo I like the look of

    Europe

Has the fact been mentioned that the migrant horde would actually prefer your jobs nay in fact I firmly believe that most want what I would and that is their kids take our kids jobs in order to eek out a future for themselves at the expense of the indigenous population. If you look at the early development of major american cities you will see the historic proof of this. Where you have a population of people that will work for significantly less than the local populace and will live in lesser conditions to do so then the local population is at risk of being pushed out whilst huge slums start to develop. From those slums people work hard get as educated and slowly break down the barriers to better jobs and before you know it the original population is usurped and replaced. You want proof just look at America! The turmoil this displacement causes is evident and manifests itself as extremist behaviours. If we don't keep a lid on it all it could get very nasty. Now being in or out of Europe might make little difference. We already Police our borders better than any other European country does (benefits of being an Island). Would we get better border security by pissing the french off and leaving the EU? Would we be any more powerful to deport folk that do sneak aboard the great ship Britannia? My juries out on that one. Now when it comes to trade mere mortals like us don't operate at massive conglomerate levels so really aren't qualified to understand what impact an in or out decision will have (I'd hazard a guess that even these international banker types don't actually really know). FWIW I reckon the vote will go marginally stay in and I base that guess on the fact that people are inherently conservative in nature. The Scottish Independence vote displayed something similar I believe.
  4. Two Supra's at the pod today. The silver with a UK spec bonnet and a light out had a forum sticker in the quaterlight window was running well and a blue one that was running I shall say slower.
  5. If it's torque you want why not go completely different and stick a BMW 3.0L Diesel lump and box in one?
  6. Is it still Beadwindow? I've recently returned to the defence sector with the RAF and dare I say it the sick note count is significantly higher than when I was a cpl. There is a hell of a lot of extremely unfit for active service people about (I work deep maintenance now as a PM so see where these guys end up). Makes a mockery of the input requirements when you have people that are motivated enough to fight what are some fairly manageable conditions when there are people hanging in for pensions that are utterly incapable of operational service!
  7. Airbus A350 program I work on for a couple more days now is going to manufactured in the majority in brand new factories in China. A hell of alot of European engineering expertise has gone into building comprehensive manufacturing complexes across all of asia. The quality aspect is still being run from Europe. Face it there is an economic work force that will do as they are told and be grateful for the work out there, can't say the same about most British manufacturing sites! There is an in-grained disgruntlment within manufacturing organisations that seems to be of the opinion that these big companies somehow have bottomless pockets and are making vast fortunes at their personal expense. Nothing could be further from the truth. As we are seeing lately huge established works are closing having made massive losses for years. The place I work in now is losing tens of millions a year, the new site in Suzhou will turn a profit inside 5 years. What do you reckon will happen to the UK site? A guy I work with used to specialise in factory closures with transfer to to the likes of Korea. He'd been doing that for ten years. Wake up and smell the coffee, our manufacturing organisations are outdated, our workforce significantly more expensive, our management structures lost in the past and the rest of the world is educating itself faster and cheaper then we are. A new approach is needed.
  8. See I thought that too. I am certain that I read somewhere that the 530D 6 speed manual box was the limiting factor when it comes to tuning up a 530D much past 300BHP and I'm sure that I read somewhere that the reason there are not many 535D manuals is that BMW were worried about the manual gearboxes ability to take the additional torque the 535D has over the 530D. As I have a 6 speed manual 530D I can vouch that it's clutch is proper heavy, bites like a bastard and takes quite a bit of getting used to.
  9. January is heading into the thick of the winter and the worst of the wintery weather usually. It's also the month that most people are the hardest up so IMHO January is the month that cash ready buyers have the best chance of picking up a bargain.
  10. I can easily do Surrey if you can keep your stomach down working on an oil burning BMW lol!
  11. As the title suggests I am looking to get my beemer estate's rear arches rolled. In my wisdom I upped the tyre size on the back ends 19" rims to 40 profile to cope with the sh!t roads in Belgium which is about a mile away from me. They now catch the arches over speed humps of which there are plenty in Holland. I am back for my MOT next week and could do with getting this work done Tuesday to Thursday next week. Cheers for any help chaps!!
  12. As the title suggests I would like to know how to identify a genuine Do-Luck front bumper. The chap that bought my car is looking to replace his front bumper but wants something his body shop isn't going to have to fettle for days to get a good fit and thinks that genuine kits would be the safest bet. There is one on Ebay now but the grille fitment looks a bit shonky to me. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Do-Luck-Front-Bumper-Toyota-Supra-JZA80-Early-Spec-/111465653272?hash=item19f3dee418 Help appreciated.
  13. Some nice tanks on here. I have a three foot tropical tank with a silver shark, couple of angels, small shoal of black tetras, small shoal of neon tetras, couple of pleco's, amano shrimp and a couple of bamboo shrimp. Marine tank only has crustaceans in it. Fire shrimp, cleaner shrimp, boxer shrimp, pink lobster, emerald crabs, hermit crabs normal and Hawaiian banded, lightfoot crab and a couple of urchins. Pictures too big to host dagnammit
