  1. This. I think we should have an unwritten rule not to shoot down or scrutinise the pricing on car ads, as a matter of courtesy before anything else. Not so sure about parts though, as we should endeavour to help other members out where we can, at least it should be like that on the forum. On any other platform, it would obviously be a different story. To add to my previous post, the new car my father elected to buy was a Audi A6 saloon, which can now be had for sub £2k, whilst on the other had, the Cosworth is now worth in excess of £70k!
  2. As tayr rightfully pointed out, the exact same thing happened with the Ford Cosworth!! I remember, my father had one which was involved in the most minor accident (rear-ended with a resulting cracked bumper and taillight). The other driver was uninsured, so instead of repairing the car, my father decided to scrap it and buy a new car... guess who's ruing that decision some 20 years later? The thing is though, most people in his position done exactly the same thing. Another example is, people who missed out on £10k houses in the 70s and 80s... look at house prices now. I know it's a balloon but hey, people have made millions and billions riding the wave.
  3. With finance, you never really own the car. I prefer to own my own assets. Which begs the question; why spend £100k+ on a depreciating asset, which is in my opinion the amount you would need to spend to get the same sort of thrill? So take it from someone who has made that mistake one too many times, once the novelty wears off and the 'new car smell' rubs off, it promptly turns in to a horrific bottomless money pit of nonsensical and wasteful depreciation. Because let's face it, if you buy a new car, with the exception of certain exotics, that's exactly what you're getting. So if you think selling a Supra for £30k is hard, I can categorically tell you, it does not get any easier selling a used RS7 for circa £70k! The fact of the matter is very simple, supply and demand is a universal phenomenon. it does not only apply to the US, Japan and Europe. Further, as others have said, I don't see how or why the living expenses argument would only apply to people living in the UK. So what is really causing this depression in our market? One word; uncertainty. Sadly, this may come as a rather bitter pill for some to swallow, with the way prices are heading, these very same people have been effectively 'gentrified' and can no longer afford to buy one. As I have said previously on another thread, if people in the UK are not going to be willing to dig deeper in to their pockets, these cars, amongst other Japanese motors recently on the rise, will become scarcer and scarcer as they are bought by willing punters from abroad, until such time that we may have to eventually add an apostrophe to the word "owners" in the forum's name.
  4. Quite the niche. I'd be up for buying one...
  5. That actually looks really good! Can I have one?
  6. I think my 6262 is rated to circa 700 (happy to be corrected) so well in line with the OP's power goal. If all parties are interested, let's make this happen! Sheefa, any way we could expedite your quest for more power? I don't think I can wait an entire year...
  7. Is that a gen 2 6466, Sheefa? If so, I may be willing to part with my 6262 in a three way deal?
  8. I don't think the ad specifically mentions "full leather" seats? I would however sort out the battery issue before selling it as it is, as others have said, an MOT failure.
  9. Out of curiosity, did anyone get to see the car before it was 'revealed' at the end of the show?
  10. Right, for one reason or another, when testing the connector at the back of the instrument cluster, there was absolutely no speed signal coming from the corresponding wires on the orange 36 pin connector in the passenger footwell. Which itself was getting a speed signal from the gearbox. Clearly therefore, there was an issue in the loom going from the connector in the passenger footwell to the connector in the back of the instrument cluster. So, we ripped it all out, put a new loom in and lo and behold, we got a speed pulse at the back of the instrument connector, plugged it in and I am very pleased to report that it now works perfectly! A very big thank you to Mike for his pearls of wisdom, as usual. Here is a link to the wiring diagram we were able to find which was also quite helpful in our diagnostics: http://www.2jzgarage.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Body_Loom_Connectors.pdf
  11. Hi Greg Thank you for your message, when are you thinking of doing this shoot?
  12. The car is indeed set up to make use of the Syvecs TC feature so that must be the case with the ABS sensors. I'll have a look at the gearbox speed pulse wiring and the Syvecs I/O configuration tomorrow and report back with my findings. Thanks again Mike.
  13. Thanks Mike, this may end up being something you'll need to breathe on soon if I can't get to the bottom of it... You mention the ECU getting a feed from the speedo signal, my ECU seems to get the pulse from the ABS sensor... is that what you would expect?
  14. We're looking for a copy of the wiring diagram for the Tiptronic speedo/instrument cluster. Following the installation of a standalone Syvecs S6+, the speedo is no longer getting a speed pulse from the gearbox via the ECU so we're not getting a reading on the speedometer. Interestingly, all the other gauges appear to be unaffected, including the odometer. We're therefore looking to find a work around to get the speed pulse to the instrument cluster without having to reinstall the stock ECU and piggy backing the standalone... Many thanks in advance.
  15. I'll give that a shot, thanks bud.
  16. I think you need to take your car back to the garage that built it. We can all sit here and try and remotely diagnose your issues but ultimately, these are all blind stabs in the dark. If you want your car fixed, I'd go back to the garage that built it and ask them to look at it... As Noz has confirmed, to achieve the power level you wanted to achieve, safely, you would have needed to replace your stock head gasket anyway. This will have lowered your compression and hopefully this is something your garage/tuner has/should accounted for.
