Just to calm the nervous of you, I have a friend with a Escort RS Cossie, dynoed at about 300bhp, uprate n stage gubbins etc, and although it is not a trashing I have pretty easily pulled away from him all the way, he ended up about 5 car lengths behind on a 1/4 mile. but the bugger always beats me when we get on the twisty stuff... (mutters, fing 4wd)

Your pretty much there already however I had the exact same symptoms.. I checked into a garage and low and behold.... partially siezed Calliper. The groaning was very hard to locate as it resonates around the car but I would say it sounded more like it was coming from the front but it was the passenger side rear that was knackered... so you cant always tell.

Litterally in the middle of me getting enough ATF fluid to do my full system flush, Toyota changed the cans... They now do not do the old 4 liter metal cans for £25 +vat. They do the new 5 liter plastic cans for about £38+vat...... seamed a little out of proportion to me.. see post below http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14293&highlight=fluid I tried 3 garages and the only 4 liter ones available where what was left in stock at the branch.

Dont think this is standard, sonds like you have had an upgrade, I think it was only the UK Twin Turbo that had the big brakes, all the rest were smaller.

>>New calipers, discs, pads, shims - everything really... Not forgetting some new Wheels so the callipers fit
-
without checking.... when i changed the discs on my BMW there was a little screw thing in the surface of the disc. Took an allen key fitment. just a possibility as i havent started to fit mine yet... dont have any alloys that will fit them :-(
-
Cheers, right better order the odds and sods today then I wont have to use cars in front to slow down ;-)
-
have you got the rear part numbers as well... I have just been rather jammy at got nearly new discs and callipers front and back (uk spec of course) for £650.(should arrive on thursday).. so i need the part numbers for the fitting and shim kit for the rears
-
Does anyone have a chasis number fo the above... I need to get some replacement parts for uk brakes but Toyota wont order them without a chasis number, obviously giving them mine (for a Jap) means that they willorder the wrong bits... Thanks

Thanks, Xmas is getting very expensive this year

what if you are thinking of venturing into the world of 19" bone shakers? (i have little 16s atm....i know i know!)
-
I thought about doing the same thing when i was changing the trannie fluid.. although i only ended up taking a few piccies... I think it would be helpful though!. other cars have haynes manuals that give the step by step for the non teccie geniuses... I would certainly be interested in seeing it as i am about to embark on the same project (as soon as i can find some alloys to accomodate the callipers)

Since posting this I have been having the same problems..... no answer!. when i did get through the first time they said the web site was under development at the moment... so sounds start up / one man band ish.

Does anyone have any experience of this company (based in eastbourne). They have told me that they provide second hand (recon?) alloys. Unfortunatly the email address he gave me bounces so I will have to try and find his number again.

are they the gold ones in you avatar? if so what are they?

I guess that answers that. I am not too much into the Anteras. I am after something with thinner spokes. but so far after phoning every advert in Max power the choices that are repeatedly offerered are.... Anteras Fox RS3 (above) Milla Evo Matrix Shadow Hi Octane 147 none of which are reall my thing... so I guess if any of the traders out there have any wheels in the aprox £1300 ish area (inc VAT delivery, tyres etc) there is some flexibiliy in price.

Xmas pressie time for myself... Gonna get some new alloys and as I am sure most of you are aware, there are not huge amounts that will clear the UK calipers, especially when your other half imposes a budget. Anyway what do people think of these.. I know style is a personal thing but more importantly.. if they will fit (the guy saif they would but am never sure). if there any good (being fox) They are 18x8 and 18x9 rear... is this big enough... They are about £1250 with tyres and delivery etc. of course the other question is... alternatives if you do not like these. http://www.autoimage-online.co.uk/images/Alloys/Fox/foxRS32003_big.jpg (He runs and hides awaiting the scorn of his peers)

Guess I am first home then. A good meet with Plenty of soops and got to meet a load more of you. Sorry to Steve W(1) I did here you say dont go mad but I was hoping for a bit more grip than that!... although interested to se the video of the fishtail departure.

oohh, looks like another thing for the xmas list
-
Still a little pricey compared to the fox level but JIC are doing a load for £1250
-
that would be fantastic if I could... I am not too sure how long it will take to get the new stuff. Are you going to the Westerham meet on saturday, if so I could grab you then. my car is K 5UPR

I am no vette expert however it did look like the C5 (after a quick google picture check). I loved it, great ride and plenty of toys, but I would hate to park it though it was huge. Sadly enough it was not warm enough to take the hood down.. Engine sounds great and the car has a very big presence, but i think ill stick with my supra, its more practicle.... i never thought i would describe it as that!

I had the pleasure of going for a ride along in a newish Covette today and really liked the Head up Display (HUD). Does anyone know of a good aftermarket one that is not too hard to fit to the Sup thanks

Right I went to the Woodcock Garage and I can recomend then strongly so far. Very helpful, spent about 30 minutes checking out my car to diagnose the problem all at no cost. They also seamed to know what they were taliking about on the Jap cars etc. Turns out that my problems are coming from a partially seezed rear caliper, which means that I need new calipers on the back, my front discs and pads are knackered and need changing also (but I knew that). Oh dear upgrad to UK spec time... but wait I have tiny little Jap spec 16" wheels... well I do need these brakes, any it will save money in the long run... time to get some decent 18" alloys for the new brakes to snuggle behind.... its has to be done. Tough call..... or at least that is the way that the conversation with my better half went
