Thanks, i've been in touch with them and had the following suggested: 18x9.5 et40 R disc (3mm in from your current wheels) 18x10.5 et39 O disc(1mm in from your current wheels) Just wanted to check with the community and maybe compare to what other folk and running too. Would my current tyres be a no-go with these wheel sizes?

255 must have been quite a stretch on 10! got any pictures? That sounds good though as i've slightly rolled my rears already (to make the XXR wheels usable). Do you have any pictures so see how they sit? I'm planning on buying a new custom set from Driftworks, tempted by their Black Friday sale. I guess that means I can spec exactly what i need instead of buying a set off the shelf.

Thanks, i was hoping for some real-world advice from people who have these wheels though in all honesty - i'm absolutely lost at sea with offset measurements and don't want to risk making a mistake / ordering wheels that end up rubbing.

Hi guys, I've heard literally hundreds of threads on this topic, please don't assume i've just lazily hit the "new thread" button lightly! Looking at buying a new set of Work VS XX but want to make sure i get a size which doesn't cause rubbing, but looks nice. Currently got a set of XXR 521 wheels fitted, 18x8.5 and 18x10 both et25. Rear arches are moderately rolled in order for the tyres not to rub in general use, however under harsh driving or sudden bumps they can still catch. I want something that i can run comfortably and not rub at all. Would like to use my current tyres as i've just bought a new set of pzeros. Tyre size are 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear. Don't mind a little bit of stretch, rears have a bit currently. Based on my research i need an "R" disc front and an "O" disc rear in order for them to clear my UK spec brakes. The car is on Eibach springs and Bilstein B6 dampers. Help Thanks Charles

Both the rear dampers are assembled identically now, had them both apart. I do think it's arb related though. Maybe a bolt was buttoned up when it was under tension and the Bush is seized in place. Deffo not related to the damper or its installation though.
-
OK got it all back together again. Wiper seal as above, is in the wrong place though and I am indeed missing those little top hats. Something to correct another time. Difference wise, the passenger side is has gone from 100mm arch gap to 35mm. Drivers side from 80mm to 25mm. Huge improvement but obvs still a difference. I noted that the passenger side strut was MUCH more difficult to refit than the drivers side. It's like the arb is putting it under much more tension on that corner. Perhaps related to the height difference?
-
Yeah I used clamps partially as a precaution. Didn't need them for reassembly really. Don't you think your spacers look a different length to mine? Yours seem really short.

Thanks, i'd be interested in that. Anyone got any recommendations on how i could space out the front dampers somehow to give a bit of extra height? it's actually too low for me at the front as it is, and raising it a little might help reduce the notable difference between front and rear too. going up like 10-20mm would do it, does anyone offer some sort of spacer perhaps?
-
I already have, it's on eibachs. On the nearside i've got 100mm of arch gap, the offside has 80mm. As above it has been spotted that my spring perchs are upside down so i'll be correcting that when i fit these. however i can't see it making more than 30mm difference on the grand scale of things. I guess we'll see though!

They can go for silly money, and some of them are utter junk. The previous owner of mine bought one from a known seller on here, and it's total garbage. The arch recesses are snapped off, and the bumper itself is very very old. The plastic has started to degrade and go brittle resulting in small cracks which appear even in fresh paint. I also removed no less than 12 previous colours when i repainted it. I'll be buying a new one after the nightmare i had with this one..

Thanks, i got in touch but sadly he didn't have them available until friday. I wanted them in time for the weekend. Managed to find them elsewhere though, albeit slightly more expensive. Any way to fit these without them raising the ride height? The rear of my supra is already way too high.

That's great, thanks! Is it the same dust boot as the OEM shocks then? 48257-24010 appears to be the OEM dust boot. It has been a long time since i saw a website that looked so 90's...!
-
Could somebody post me a link to the correct rear bilstein strut dust cover please?
-
Thanks, I'll heed hour advice and sort immediately! Worryingly the car has been driven fairly quickly with this setup. I've got pictures of the other side and they're both actually fitted wrong! Assume the front is correct as it's mega low, will check it out though. Guess the height difference is still a mystery. Seems really common though from what I read.
-
Are they really? Bloody hell.. Had no idea (previous owner fitted them) . OK well that's easy enough to sort out at least! How much of a difference will that make in terms of ride height? Suspect I'll still be left with my problem of the nearside being 20mm higher but it should improve things, thanks!

All looks correct to me in terms of installation, although i'm no expert. Springs are correct. Distance from the bottom of the spring mount to the bottom of the strut is 30cm, i've not seen any figures from other users on this though.

Hi Chris, I've had chance to pull the car out of the garage this morning, albeit only briefly. The rear springs have what seems like a reasonable amount of preload on them, certainly not remotely loose when the car is jacked up fully off the ground. I double checked all the part numbers on the dampers and springs, everything looks fine on that front. Springs are the right way round, spring platforms are the correct way up. It had been suggested that the correct fitting advice is to only tighten up the lower strut bolt once the car is under load rather than when it's up in the air - so i did this too. Can't help but think that something is massively wrong with my setup as it's not just "a bit out" or "leaning a bit" as with some other cars i've seen (leaning seems crazy common). Mine is up in the air on the drivers side rear and sky high on the passenger side rear. I took a few measurements to illustrate the difference. To be honest i've drawn a complete blank here, and reading extensively the amount of stories of people who have done everything from replacing bushings to control arms etc and had no joy, i'm seriously thinking about just getting a half set of coilovers and being done with it. I had the car checked out by a motorsports shop i use and he could see no reason why it sat so lobsided or so high at the back. Running out of options really, i want the suspension sorted before i take it off the road to do the necessary bodywork. Where do i go from here? I could send off the struts to have new grooves machined in, dropping the rear. Problem is, it's so uneven at the back that this is only going to sort part of the problem Rear comparison Strut length - Nearside (40cm total, 30cm from bottom of spring perch to bottom of strut)
-
Was yours even left to right? My nearside rear is noticably higher than the offside rear.
-
I'd be interested in that too, however as i'm new to the supra world i've not hot a big parts bin of standard bits to swap on unfortunately. As soon as i get chance i'm going to get the struts off and give it a good look over, ensure they're fitted correctly. The motorsports shop i used to sort the gearbox oil leak / do the belts / some others bits etc had a look over it and couldn't see anything obviously incorrect in terms of fitment. The springs are in the cups etc. I'm going to get them off the car and take some measurements i think.
-
Alas i don't. the car came with a random set of mismatched coilovers in the boot, but already sat on the bilsteins. Odd that there's so many threads on cars sitting high at the rear on bilsteins! Suspect it's like you mentioned on the phone yesterday, there's an error in fitment that can cause this somehow. if not, i may send you them to machine an additional circlip groove into or something.
-
Hi, i've got a very similar problem to what is being described here. Basically the rear sits sky high but the front is really quite low (to the point of scrubbing). Furthermore, the rear nearside is much higher than the offside. These are billstein dampers with eibach lowering springs. the car is a TT, i've checked the spring part number and they're correct and also fitted the right way round. Is there a common fitment problem that might cause the rear to sit much higher? I've read about slackening the control arm bolt, refitting, then tightening up the bolt once the car is on the ground? picture of nearside front and rear attached.

So what happens in terms of events etc? Some brands have a great social community with events / meets etc?

Mine is a bit of a project bodywork wise. It's hard for me to recommend somebody paint wise as the reason i took up painting was because i wasn't happy with the paintwork i'd paid for at a few different shops. A friend of mine had some work done at Capital Autobodies in wakefield and that turned out great in fairness. I'm building a booth at my new house (when we eventually move) so i'll crack on with it over winter i think. I did indeed! Do you know the previous owner?
-
I do a bit of bodywork myself, got all the gear to do it. It was flat tippex white when i got the car, it actually machine polished up really well but will get repainted regardless at some point to sort other paint defects. It's getting a new front bumper too as the one that came with it is garbage - has 12+ layers of paint on it and is a bit drift spec. Where abouts in wakefield are you from? This one came from Rothwell and the owner mentioned another white one that existed locally.
