  1. Who is he, does he have a garage or something?
  2. Now Bilstein have gone quiet and i am not getting a reply. No idea what im going to do now. Im stuck with two shock absorbers that are no good to me and 260 odd quid down the drain. Is there nobody that has a pair of new OEM KYB shocks i could buy?
  3. You need a brake pipe flaring tool. Use mole grips to get the old pipes off if they rounded
  4. Update. Still none the wiser with this. All shock measurements sent to Bilstein say everything is correct and are also stumped. The car has been lowered substantially at the front just by fitting the B6 shocks, i cant even get the jack under now. Bilstein are now looking into either altering the spring seat height or making me some sleeves that sit between the circlip and spring seat.
  5. Yes they are deffo the right springs. I even have a spare front spring off another Supra and that is exactly the same. I am almost certain that something is wrong with the Bilsteins or the bottom spring seats they sent are wrongly machined. If anybody is thinking of buying Bilsteins I'd hold off until I get to the bottom of this problem because something isn't right.
  6. UPDATE- Spoke to somebody at Bilstein technical dept and he wants me to measure the shock absorber dimensions. He also said that the spring seat could be the wrong one and for the rears so ive got to check that too. Failing that, they can alter the shocks at worst case scenario.
  7. Thanks for doing that. Ill check with mine tomorrow. Can you confirm that your springs are under tension on the shock and you cant move them?
  8. That would help please if you could measure from the lowest point of the spring support to the lower edge of the top mount and also from the centre line of the bolt eye to the lowest point of the spring support
  9. Could be slight differences but other people have used J spec springs off the KYB shocks with no issues Mine are J spec and other people have used them with the Bilsteins with no trouble.
  10. And now another problem. I just tried to put the car in the garage and it scraped like hell. The front end is a good fingers width lower each side than standard. I could get 3 fingers between the top of the wheel and arch with standard shocks and have a bit of movement. Now I can only just manage to get 2 fingers in! Obviously the lower spring seat has lowered the car.
  11. Thanks Scooter. The whole thing is so strange but you can clearly see how the difference between the length of piston rod and the slightly lower spring seat is causing the problem. This has got to now be a manufacturing defect at Bilsteins end. I highly doubt all 3 of my springs are oddball especially since one came from another car.
  12. If anybody can measure the length of one if their j speec springs id appreciate it. Mine is about 11 and 1/4 inches uncompressed
  13. Heres with the spring on. I can remove the top mount with no spring compressors and with everything bolted together the spring can be turned on the shock easily and rattles around Turned the base by hand You can see that the spring is exerting no pressure on the mounts
  14. The springs are deffo original Toyota springs. I even have a spare spring not off this car and they are all the same size
  15. As you can see, not only is the rod longer, the bottom seat is also slightly lower. I'll put a spring on and take a pic of the problem.
  16. Right I took some pics to show what I'm up against not sure if this will work but here goes
  17. My springs are deffo J spec stock and i even have a spare stock spring which is the same. The piston rod on the Bilsteins is about half an inch longer than the Toyota piston rod when lay side by side but the bolt eye to the lower mount plate is the same length. Part number of my Bilsteins is 24-017923 if you could check yours?
  18. I have another spare stock spring which is the same as the two on the car but if you could measure the length just to be sure that would be good thanks.
  19. I didnt do that no, id never heard of it but im going to strip it down again today so will try.
