  1. How about a thread on part replacements that are a must for newbies? What parts have you replaced that were worn out with age and made a huge difference? Ill start with the boot stop/cushion rubbers. Made a huge difference that i never expected and got rid of all the annoying rattles and knocks from the back end of mine. PITA job because the screws were seized solid but well worth all the hassle.
  2. Lovely car. Is that an RSR exhaust? If so, they sound terrible and you should replace it with another and sell it to me Keep as close to stock as possible. If you do mod it, make sure the mods can be easily reversed and keep the original parts. Regarding the underseal. Look at Bilt Hamber products, they are the experts in corrosion protection. If you email them, the head chemist Pete will advise you as to the best approach, he is really helpful.
  3. WOW, what a difference changing these has made. Before, the car felt 25 years old with knocks and rattles around the back end. Now the car feels so much newer and not a single knock or rattle even on bumpy roads, its made driving the Supra much more pleasant. Highly recommended to change these if you've not already done it, its worth all the hassle even if the screws are seized solid and the heads rotten like mine were.
  4. Still on the original 94 rad and no sign of any problems but its always in the back of my mind, so much i always carry 5lts of water with me when going on a longish drive then at least i can try and limp a few more miles to the nearest water source if the worst happens and i wont be stranded in the area where the thing blows. The rad or one of the hoses bursting is the main reason i always make sure ive got breakdown cover as well, you just never know when they are going to go.
  5. Well what a PIG of a job. Those screws would not shift for anything. It didnt help that they looked like they had been under the Atlantic for 200 years and the heads crumbled as soon as I touched them. Tried to drill them out but the drill only went so far then just started spinning and smoking. After a lot of swearing I managed to cut the remnants of the heads off the screws which then left the threaded bit in. Drill wouldn't drill the threaded bit out so I drilled a new hole in the centre of the rubber bump stop and in between the two original holes in the body and put a small screw head bolt through with a nut on the back. A bit unconventional but it worked a treat.
  6. Tried that but the metal bracket is shaped in a way that i cant get the grips on the heads properly.
  7. The heads are too rusty to use an impact driver. They are literally crumbling.
  8. How on earth do you undo the screws that hold the two lower rubber bump stops for the boot? They are seized solid and the head just chews up. Is there a technique? As far as i can see, they aint coming out unless i try to drill them out.
  9. You cant go wrong with any of the Pioneer units, ive fitted one in my last 4/5 cars i like them so much. I have the AVH=A3100DAB in the Supra and its a great unit. It has waze on it so i believe will do all of what you want without breaking the bank. I think i paid about 260ish from Halfords. You can also disconnect the annoying electric aerial and use DAB instead.
  10. Thanks for the info. Ive been looking at the kit for a while, and as you say it looks simple to fit, just the sump that requires a fair bit of faffing to get the thing off. Do you get all the gaskets needed in the kit? i need to do some more research on the ECU options. The emanage ultimate sounds like it could be ideal for what i want.
  11. Yeah, mines an auto so i believe i have to keep the original ECU to control the gearbox. Because of this it looks like the new ecu will have to be wired in unless Whifbitz can supply some kind of patch lead. Hopefully they can also put a rough map on the ecu just to get the car running and driveable. Most of the ignition components have already been replaced not long ago. Ill be happy enough with the expected 360HP to be honest. Im not looking for mega power, just something that will make the car a bit more fun and give the sound that we all crave. Yours sounds great in the video, that turbo whistle is gorgeous.
  12. It was nothing to do with their workmanship or the quality of the parts in the kit, it was more to do with timescale of the install. Im sure the people involved will post up if they see this thread.
  13. Heard a few bad stories with Whifbitz fitting the kit though. I dont want to go into detail as its not fair to bad mouth them without first hand experience. I do know somebody that is capable of doing the ECU work, he does that for a living at a GTR specialist but just wanted a bit more info of how it is wired in. I believe the ECU Whifbitz reccomend is the Link Storm
  14. Im seriously considering going for this kit. I was going to take the car to Whifbitz and let them fit it but im confident that a guy that i know can fit it. Who has actually fitted this kit themselves and is there any advice you would give? Any other parts/gaskets i might need to buy or is everything included in the kit? We have decided that dropping the subframe may be the slightly easier option of removing the sump rather than lifting the engine/box out. With the sump return pipe sorted, the rest of the installation looks fairly simple and straightforward. Regarding the new ECU, how is it wired? Do you get some kind of lead to connect it? This is the only area we are a bit grey on. Lastly are there any posts with a fitting guide that could be used for reference?
  15. Just listened to a few video clips of that exhaust. Sounds ok but not so silent lol. Not sure its too different to the Motoria i already have on.
  16. Ok thanks for replying Shawn.
  17. As opposed to that awful boring thin/flat BMW dash? Hell yes!
  18. Chris, im now even more confused. You agree with my last post so how can this be? Do you think my Bilsteins were machined wrong from the factory? (Bilstein say the measurements were all correct). Luckily the car is sitting perfectly now that they machined new circlip grooves but it would be interesting to get to the bottom of this.
  19. Chris, thanks for your input. Quick point. Side by side, the Bilstein seat height to bottom bolt eye distances are different than the original Toyota shocks. The fronts are shorter and rears longer, Surely this has to have the effect of lowering the front and raising the rear because the spring is sat at a different height? Take the fronts for example, surely if the distance from bolt eye to spring seat is shorter then its has to lower the ride height? I dont see how it cant? And the rears, if the distance from bolt eye to spring seat is longer then it surely has to lift the ride height?
  20. Is there actually any difference in the NA and TT exhaust? I'm sure the Motoria I have on now is a TT exhaust. The pipe looks 3 inch diameter all the way up to the mid section.
  21. Im pretty sure the exhaust on the Supra i valeted that sounded nice was the RSR. It sounded so beefy and deep. Where can i buy one?
  22. Just looked on youtube there is a few RSR video clips. That looks like the exhaust on the Supra i valeted 15 years ago. I remember the tailpipe was very short. Can you still buy them?
