  1. Cheers for the reply guys. Normore, what springs do you use with your shocks and how do you find them. Is the differnece between settings quite obvious, haven't had a chance to experiment yet.
  2. Just fitted my KYB AGX suspension at the weekend. As they are adjustable shocks I will be leaving off the thin metal covers that go over the topmounts. Does anyone know the purpose of these, are they to reduce noise or something ? Cheers dudes.
  3. Hi, sorry I didn't provide feedback. Yes the job is complete and I did'nt need to undo the anti-roll bar link. I just removed the long bolt from the wishbone and after undoing the bolts for the shock I just used a sturdy piece of timber to pull the suspension down and allow clearance at the bottom of the shock for it to be removed. I already had the wheels and brakes off and within 3 hours had the new shocks on, this included compressing the springs on my existing shocks and transferring the topmounts. Thanks again for the help and suggestions.
  4. Cheers for the replies everyone, much appreciated.
  5. Hi guys, just after some tips or tricks. I need to remove my shocks to install my KYB AGX but cant remove the front stabilisr link. Has anyone done this before that can offer any insight into some special trick to doing this. I've attached a pic from the toyota manual that shows the step I'm trying to do. I've tried putting a 5mm hex key into the bolt and holding the nut with a 14mm spanner but can't really apply sufficient leverage with an allen key. Cheers for any help.
  6. I think mine is 1310, it was among the first batch of official UK cars, the original number plate was Lxx BPL, some of you may recall that the official press cars used at the lanch were L65 BPL and L62 BPL I think. Also, the first registered owner of my car was Toyota UK, for about 6 months, I've still got a photocopy of the first reg document along with 12 years worth of official invoices, one of the reasons I bought this particular car.

    Bling!

That looks ace, what suspension do yo have, looks lower than standard.
  8. The guy that created is a 18 year old Korean I believe and was paid about $10 Million for all the rights to it. If your getting sick of the adverts then you won't want to hear that theres going to be a huge merchandising campaign and theres even plans for a cartoon based around the character. Bloody school kids that are making these people rich, although it's their parents that usually pay the bill. A fact that these companies are very much aware of and exploit fully.
  9. Cheers mate, it looked like it might be bigger but I'll try and get hold of a 10mm. Typical, it's just started raining.
  10. Just tried a search but none of the threads about diffs actually say whaat size hex key is needed to undo the diff oil drain and fill bolts. got the car jacked up and ready to go only to find that none of mine fit. Cheers.

    UK alarm

I wonder if the washer jets from something like a Lexus would fit on ok, they don't protrude quite so much, although that might affect their ability to wash the headlamps. By the way, does anyone ever use them, my car never gets that dirty.

    Wheels

Whatever you go for just try to stay as close to 50mm offset as possible. I think that most people who have 18's go for 245/40 18 at the front and 275/35 18 at the rear. This results in a rolling circumference which is only slightly larger than standard which would probably help a little in making the speedo a bit more accurate which is known to over-read more than most.

    Shockers

If the shocks are yellow then they're the bilstiens. Just to be sure that it isn't the hatch rubbers which would cause a surprisingly rattly sound try putting a couple of blobs of blu tack on the rubbers on both sides of the boot. It'll only take you a few seconds and could save you hundreds of pounds.
  14. There was no change in spec in any of the UK cars, the first change to any Supra came after '96 which is when they stopped selling them here.

    Shockers

For the £400 that Mr T will charge you could get bilsiens all round from one of the traders on here. You'll need to say what spec your car is as you may already have the Bilsteins which are yellow, or just the standard black Toyota ones. £100 per shock is all you need to spend though, that's assuming it's the shocks that are at fault, I wouldn't rely 100% on Toyota's diagnosis, maybe you just need some bushes. Hope this helps.
  16. Not sure how much the black mats are but I do know they cost a lot more. Just buy 2 sets of cream instead!!
  17. I doubt it would make a measurable difference either way unless you wheelspin everywhere you go, in which case, the cost of new tyres would be of more concern.

    Supra Salvage

Shall we put our names to the bits we're interested in, should make it easier for you to confirm availability and costs etc. 1. Boot Blind 2. Gear Stick 3. LSD 4. Door Cards 5. 3rd brake Light - Zed 6. Carpets 7. Drivers Seat Belt 8. Electric aerial + motor *possibly* 9. OEM Rear Spats
  19. Good news, went to RRG Salford Toyota and bought some V160 oil, £18.xx + vat, decided to buy a set of ivory mats as well, get this, £11.02 +vat even the kid that was serving me couldn't believe it. In fact he went to his manager thinking there was a mistake on the system but he confirmed that it was fine. I'm thinking of getting a couple more cans of V160 becuase it's likely to to run out soon at that price. If anyone else needs the mats the part no is TPZ410-A0352-BC Absolute bargain, even corolla mats would cost 4 times as much !!

For the right price I'll take the 3rd brake light from the bootlid, cheers mate.
  21. Tracking is just done to the front wheels I think, if for example you have to keep the steering turned slightly to go in a straight line the you need the tracking done, assuming all the tyre pressures are ok. 4 wheel alignment is a tad more involved, this involves checking the angles of the wheel relative to the road and numerous other angles which I cant really describe without pictures but don't have any, there's probably some old posts which show what I mean. Hope that makes it a bit clearer.
  22. I've heard some good things about the 050a's, I believe they are OE equipment on some very exotic cars including the new Fezza F430. Can you say what the cost was ?
  23. Oooh, and I've been planning to get some V160 for the past couple of weeks, will go to RRG in Manchester tommorrow. Let you know what the outcome is, cheers dude.
  24. I tried most of the methods above without luck. I'm sure it's documented on here somewhere but the surefire way to undo the is by heating the screws up first. Rip off the rubber parts to leave the metal plate inside the rubber exposed and heat the screws up. I bought a brulee torch from a kitchen utnsils store, this provided a small but poitable flame which is hot enough to soften the loctite. Without heat it is virtually impossible to remove the screws, I couldn't believe how easily the screws came out after applying heat. 20 min job max. hope this helps.
