  1. Chris, thanks for the reply, just wondering, Ian has one of these which I will be contacting him about, but are you aware of any differnces between UK/J-Spec versions of the EGCV. Just that the one in Ian's pic looks slightly different. I'll most likely be contacting you directly on Monday. Cheeers mate.:flame Dev
  2. And the last one, I guess sorting this out would be a good opportunity to have my front de-cat pipe put on as well.
  3. That's fantastic Ian, I've just taken some close up pics so that you can see what's actually happened. here's 4 pics in total.
  4. Spotted a nice black uk spec exiting M 62 at jct 21 eastbound, on Thursday evening, 9 dec, about 5 pm ish. Looked standard although the suspension seemed to be lower, looked fantastic, reminded me of mine which I haven't had a chance to drive for about 3 weeks !!!
  5. I have attached a picture taken from Ian's post and added an arrow which shows exactly which bit is broken. What I would now like to know is, can this be repaired or will I need a new EGBV and if so are they expensive. By the way, I didn't bother with the TTC mod as I know the cause of the problem. This post may be of some assitance to RGM who has recently posted about virtually the same problem so will PM him. Anyway thanks in advance for any advice and assistance !! :flame Dev ::Edited to say that where I say EGBV I was meant to say EGCV as spotted by Ian
  6. Thanks to Ian C's fantastic post explaining in detail how the sequential system works I've been able to diagnose the reason why my 2nd turbo would dump all it's boost at 4000 rpm. As explained by Ian's post, the most likely cause for this would be a problem with the EGBV. This corresponded with a new rattly sound that I could hear from that precise area. Some of you may recall my original post ' Is my 2nd turbo dead' ? Anyway while attempting the 5 min hose TTC mod I was able to feel that the rod that exits the EGBV was no longer connected to the exhaust. I was actually happy to discover this as it will hopefully mean I don't need a new turbo ( the money can now be diverted to the CW suspension fund !!). Continued in next reply....
  7. Is that a true twin conversion ? If not, was it easy to do and what difference does it make to anything else, there must be some difference if bypassing a vsv. Cheers mate
  8. This sounds exactly like my problem. Car drives fine and performance is exactly as it should be, boosts to about .7 bar on T1 but as soon as i get to 4000 rpm the performance suddenly drops and boost is showing about .2 bar max. I suspect it is something to do with the EGCV as there is a new sound coming from that precise area. Need to get it to CW which I have'nt been able to do for over a month, really hope it's not the turbo !! Hope you get it sorted :flame Dev
  9. Where abouts in the car park are we going to be ?
  10. My friends getting married on Sunday AND it's my birthday but I'm still gonna try to meet up with you guys, I really don't want to miss this. Hopefully someone technical can advise on my 2nd turbo not coming online. 1. Richie S 2. mcanny 3. eyefi (representing the ka) 4. Dale 5. Chris B 6. Chris sz(maybe) 7. Thorin(maybe) 8. 11. It will almost definitely be treated as 3 seperate offences at 3 points per offence. Going to court should help avoid a ban though, it can be pot luck depending on how the judge is feeling. I got a 56 day ban on the 10th of November for doing 86 on a 3 lane A road which had a speed limit of 40, as wll as 6 points and a £150 fine plus £40 expenses. Personally, I think I got screwed with a ban AND 6 points but other guys on the day got worse. Just luck of the draw.
  12. Arrrggghhhh!!! I've been looking forward to a meet in Yorkshire for ages and then one gets arranged on the day of my best friends wedding. Barely 10 minutes away from me as well !! I'm gutted that I won't be able to make it there, hope you guys have a good time anyway !!:flame Dev
  13. I also have an fmic, which I decided to do when replacing the radiator and ac condenser. I've recently been thinking about creating some kind of ducting for the fmic, has anyone done this, and if so, how ? Cheers !:flame Dev
  14. Is yours crumbling away. I had mine re-cored soon after buying the car by Northern Radiators. They had to use a lexus core as it was the only one big enough. I think I paid about £200 ish can check when I get home. The standard radiator is very good and would only need upgrading if you plan on doing track days with a car pushing over 500 bhp. I believe that TDI have used the standard radiator upto around 600 bhp !! Hope this helps, you might save some money at least !! :flame Dev
  15. Have any of you guys had any probs getting this oil. Some of the dealers I went including the ones in Bradford and Leeds said they can't sell it over the counter and that only the workshop are allowed to order it. Eventually bought it from RRG Salford Toyota who were very helpful, They delayed my order so gave me an extra 1 litre can for free, which is brilliant considering the price of this stuff . I attatched a length of rubber hose to a plastic bottle which I'd put the oil into in order to squeeze the oil into the gearbox, worked a treat, although a bit slow. :flame Dev
  16. Dude, your pm box is full, just chasing up the decat pipe, cheers. :flame Dev
  17. Has the car had the active front soiler de-activated in order to accomodate a fmic. If so you just need to short two connections on the plug that would have gone into the motor for the active spoiler and keep the spoiler 'off' button pressed in. :flame Dev If you don't have an fmic then just check that the plug into the active spoiler motor is securely in, it''s on the deivers side of the car. Hope this is of some help !!
  18. Has anyone noticed that the wording sounds quite 'American' and also as though the seller is not the owner. Very unusual to get leather on a j-spec, although you can see that the back of the front seats are vynil !! I think the car looks kinda jacked up on those 19"s, maybe the suspension is stanadrd ?
  19. Cheers osso, that looks quite easy. Will give it a try before ringing turbo technics for info on hybrids
  20. which method should i use for ttc mode, the one on MKIV.com ? :flame Dev
  21. cheers dandan, I think I might do this, should reveal what the new jangly sound is hopefully.:flame Dev Assuming it is turbo 2 thats dead would you normally have both refurbed / replaced or just the dead one ?
  22. Dandan, yes the front cat is still in place, but would deterioration of the material inside it cause just the second turbo to not boost at all ? Sorry, just read the post properly, and it seems quite possible that the leftovers of turbo 2 could be rattling arround in there.
  23. Osso, cheers for the reply, what did you go for in terms of replacement turbo's and was it expensive. Can you recomend anyone. Does anyone else have any turbo recomendations, does CW do turbo work ? cheers for your replies.:flame Dev
