  1. Hey all - @Punisher @2jmatt @Tradelikewater- Sorry, I hadn't noticed any notifications on this thread, didn't mean to blank you. The company I looked at were Tai Auto parts:http://twooauto.en.alibaba.com/ Not sure how they are for 2J's atm though. Sorry again
  2. Fab - Thanks, I had a chat with him late last week. Really nice guy, and very knowledgeable.
  3. Thanks for that - I've watched those videos.. I'd need a bravery injection first I think
  4. Thanks @Swampy442 that's amazing! - not 100% who that is, but is it you @Paul -C-?
  5. Thanks - Not something I wanted to do myself though, just looking for an expert who can, or an expert who can if I buy the parts. Appreciate the response!
  6. Hi all, Just looking at doing my W58 swap and thought about having the gearbox reconditioned before it goes in as I don't know how long it will last / what the inside looks like. I've had a few places just refuse to do it as the parts aren't available. I've had a good local place say, if I can get the parts they'll rebuild as much as I want. Anyone able to either recommend a place who can definitely do it, or a place which will supply up to and including a full rebuild kit - I can only find small bearing kits etc on places like ebay. Thanks!
  7. Sooooooooo - Due to a "sudden demand in the GTE engine" the cost of the engine has risen to $6900.00 ( £5000.00) delivered to the UK. If I have calculated the tax right you need to add on 30% so the engine would be £6500.00 So there we go - I'll suggest that was an exciting ride, but that's where we've landed. Although they would sell W58 boxes for $570.00 (£413.00 + 30%) - random discovery. They would offer discounts for orders over 10 items, but unless I had been able to order one first to check they were legit I wouldn't want to sort a group buy in case it is in fact, all a complete scam. I don't think it is, I just think they've realised they can charge me more... I'll update if I get any further with this route, and apologies if I've wasted your reading time.
  8. So, further update That's a good point. Bloody taxes! Further update. The company are used by some US car importers and garages which have provided some feedback for them on Ailibaba. They have offered to give names to me to contact. Seems like a logical step, so I'll do that first too.
  9. Credit card payment for this company is expected- that’s one thing the less trustworthy ones weren’t so keen on. Like the one below for example
  10. Yeah, I’d agree- that’s why I wondered if anyone had already gone this route. yiu can get them a lot cheaper, but the traders have maybe been in business for a year, or the customer service is appalling. it’s taken a lot of conversations to get to this point… The general going price is around that area from China. It’s taken a lot of conversations to get to a trader I feel is legitimate. I’ll update this thread as I get through it. And if it works then share the whole process. I may bail at any point. 10 + engines get a great discount too, so maybe if I’m convinced by this seller I could look at setting a group buy up?
  11. So as a quick update- I’m now speaking with a reputable dealer after wading through about 10 who just didn’t exude trust. I’m discussing importing a TT engine which will cost £2496.00 plus shipping which theyll confirm later today. Also discussing an engine and auto box for £3500.00. I’ve been sent time stamped videos of both running, and they’ve been trading for over 10 years. I may just go ahead and can then feed back the results to the group (or maybe swear lots).
  12. I'd be interested - Where are you please?
  13. As the title really. I’m looking at getting an engine through Alibaba but it’s a lot of money for something I’ve never used before. anyone had any experience of buying engines or gearboxes through them? (I get all sellers are different on there though) thanks!!
  14. Yeah agreed. You would hope decency kicked in.
  15. Just found it on Facebook market place randomly searching the other day. I typo’d. I meant to say “I presume now gone”
  16. Saw this (now gone) Supra near me, just wondered if anyone on here ended up with it. Sounds a sad story, but lovely looking car. (Guessing typo. 2001, not 2011)

  18. Thanks for the info. So I have just bought some Toyota (black) badges and they appear to have the locator prongs on the back. They just seat in and the badge is adhesive backed? I suppose I'll get to see in 3-5 business days, but good to know in advance.
  19. Hi, Strange question. I need a front and rear Toyota emblem. On the part schematic there seems to be some little plastic grommit things with part numbers. What are they please, and do they come with the emblems? Or do I have to order those separately? Toyota couldn't tell me. Thanks Stuart
  20. Yep it's those ones - ordering from Toyota is painfully expensive. get the Ebay ones!
  21. Thanks for the reply- that’s what I’m looking to replace. The online price for the OEM ones are eye watering. looking for after market options I can fit back on, any ideas? I was wondering if anywhere sold the matting that I could cut to size. Can’t see anything online.
  22. Hi all, the insulation on the bonnet has had it and was looking to replace. I’ve seen the various stick on options, but was really looking for the more oem look. has anyone found anything that could do the job, like matting I can cut to size and put back with the push rivets which it had standard? thanks in advance!!
  23. Thanks, much appreciated!
  24. Hey all, I sent my gas struts off to SGS to refurb. They apparently sent them back, but DHL have lost them stating they were never collected…. Anyone got a set as my resprayed car is waiting on them to get finished or can suggest aftermarket ones which will do the job. thanks! stuart
