  1. I would absolutely agree Ric - I want to upload pics but the forum just says upload failed?
  2. Hi Yes I do have a correct restrictor ring, I got it from WB and before the next stages it was hitting .95 on my boost gauge. I also have an AFR and its never gone into dangerous levels even though the car seems to be overboosting so hopefully the overboost hasnt caused any issues.
  3. With the greatest of respect to those answering I think you are misunderstanding my replies. I am not suggesting I add a second controller to the first one which is clearly and inherently wired up incorrectly, I am going to remove the HKS 6 completely and replace it with a more user friendly system of either two simple BCs or one and a bleed valve to just slightly increase the first turbo and bring the second one up to safe BPU. Can I just make it clear now (and again no offence) that this is my intention and always was my intention right from the outset of this thread. And I appreciate the advice on going to a Supra specialist but the nearest one to me is, well, not near to me and of course its not possible to reach them for the forseeable. And this HKS wasnt set up by some back street mechanic, it was a tuning specialist with Tom Hudson on video call whilst he did it who I believe is one of the best tuning experts in the country and now runs FenSport Performance. According to the tuner who did it the HKS was 'the most awful piece of kit he'd ever used' and Tom Hudson thought the same. So, and I know I will get some flak for this, I would say anyone out there who is considering buying the latest HKS EVC, if its going near a twin turbo, think again. They are just plain awful and nobody knows how to set them up properly. It cost me nearly 600 quid and I will be selling it as soon as I can get it grafted out of my car, I see they go for a couple of hundred on ebay and not surprisingly there are some on there..... So back on topic, I agree it would look a bit 'carnival' to have two BCs with head units running to my dash so the obvious choice is a small block to the first to hit .8 or .85 and then a standard BC with a head unit running the second turbo to 1.2bar. With that in mind what exactly is this device on the first turbo called so I can find one today on EBay or Amazon and assuming all HKS systems are equal and I dont get one of them what BCs are others using for their second turbo BPU?
  4. Looking at all your answers I think Scooter is right - if I get a bleed valve on the first and have it up to .85 and a traditional BC on the second one up to 1.2 that gives me full BPU at the most safe set up is that right? And this will work fine with a 1 bar restrictor plate? Excuse my ignorance I assume it is fine as its going over that with the restrictor plate in now but I just wondered. If this is ok whats the easiest most reliable BC for the second turbo that everyone uses and Scooter what is the valve device called on ebay so I can pick one up? I'll obviously confirm all this with my mechanic too before buying.
  5. Cheers for everyones info but just to clarify I intend to rip out the HKS even though it cost 600 quid and plumb in either two BCs or one bleed on the first and a BC on the second to allow safe boosting, what is the best hardware for this? Money isnt a problem but the most expensive isnt necessarily the best.
  6. I should also clear up I want to run the stock twins as twins at the best possible norm, not TTC or anything, I love the power delivery of true twins
  7. So basically I dont know how its been plumbed in wrong but at full chat it read 33.3PSI on WOT (even though the HKS 6 is set up to have a maximum on all 3 readings of 17PSI) - whether that is both turbos at full or whatever I dont know, it isnt monitoring atmos pressure, its zero till the sound of spool, I also notice the spool sound is louder since I had it installed (only slightly but noticeable). The problem is with the current situation the tuner is not available and is looking like he might go out of business altogether. There is another very good mechanic in my town who has agreed to fit two controllers next week but what I ideally want is one cheapish manual for the first turbo that can take it to .8 and maybe all under the bonnet, and then one into the second which will take the second to 1.2. If I do this set up will the ECU make them both activate and spool in the right order at the right time or will having two BCs interfere? My understanding is the car still controls everything but the controllers allow the boost to be at a higher maximum? I switched the HKS down to 16.5 and the max was then 29.9 but as I dont know if it is reading one or both turbos I dont want to cause potential damage and have to have my turbos rebuilt or repaired. I think I've got away with having no damage as the car doesnt smoke on idle or when boosting but I really want to get it sorted whilst we're in lockdown so its ready when we're allowed out without having to dodge police alsatians. I am if you didnt know JDM 93 Auto at BPU with a 1 bar restrictor in the exhaust from WB, have A CW FCD, Walbro 255, 3 inch full decat stainless system and basically spent money to get the most recommended set up but seem to be failing at the final hurdle on the boost controller. The whole engine has been rebuilt with forged pistons and had perfect compression so I should really be as close to a BPU max as possible if I can actually get the darned boost to the right level!
  8. Hi All So my mechanic set up my Supra with the HKS EVC VI IR BC and it turned out it was overboosting, as nobody seems to use this BC on a Supra I've been advised to use 2 separate BCs on one turbo each, the first being .85 and the second being 1.2. Is this right and can anyone recommend the best cheapish BCs to run in tandem in this way? Thanks in advance.
  9. It was horrendously hard to set up I can send a photo of the lines in the engine bay if you like but basically yes when I got it back it was set to 17.5 across all three parameters and it 33.3 and I thought that was too high so we set all to 17.0 and it now goes to 30. It feels as my previous car did now which was at BPU but it also has an AFR gauge in which is reading within parameters even with WOT. I dont pretend to understand it but I know if it was much above 1.2bar the turbos would not stand it and yes the HKS has an audible warning if the turbos over boost (it basically goes mental) so with that in place and no warnings how on earth can the HP be in early 30s? If it were short spikes I assume this is not harmful to the car and wouldnt I get some crazy AFR readings if it was overboosting?
  10. Hi All I am sure this is going to leave everyone laughing in the aisles at my expense, but I need the advice of more learned men than me in this field. My car is now full BPU with an HKS 6 running both turbos. On the screen it has the PH (highest boost achieved) setting and this reaches 28-30. The BC is set to not go above 17PSI which as we know is the safe limit for JDMs and the tuner says it is fine - so when the PSI max goes to 30 is that the combination of both turbos? Of course the turbos arent hitting 30PSi or they would be coming through the bonnet so I am guessing its saying both are 15? Just wanted to check all was ok before I finally enjoy my car and hopefully dont get the coronavirus!
  11. It sounds like I may need to look into LSDs then but the first thing I need to do is get the geometry set up and put better tyres on I feel and see how that goes. I'm always capable of catching any tank slappers at speed (he says) but it is just off the line where I really need less wheelspin most but it sounds like an LSD may be the way forward. I guess I'm really used to driving without one though, my daily driver is a 535D which is very powerful and for some reason was never given an LSD as well. Excuse my ignorance but when I looked there are several types, 2 way interchangable and the likes, which one is the one for the Supra? - - - Updated - - - It sounds like I may need to look into LSDs then but the first thing I need to do is get the geometry set up and put better tyres on I feel and see how that goes. 12. Yeah I thought so too until I talked over it with people on here and they dont seem to be absolutely essential, many people who upgrade have said its not really particularly better if you've 'learnt' the car without one but obviously not having one I dont know. I might consider it but its definitely seemingly tyres that are giving or at least it feels that way to me.

    Hoses

Hi All Ok so I finally managed after basically rebuilding my Supra underneath and having my engine rebuilt to achieve BPU today with the HKS EVCVI being fettled in by a tuner. The car is superb but I have a couple of questions that I am sure other owners have come across at BPU I need help with. I'll post them separate so here goes for this one: One of my coolant hoses blew off when I first hit BPU - I feel it is time to get a full set of new radiator and coolant hoses. Many people rcommend G-Pulse but I cant find them anywhere, does anyone know of a place that sells a full set, ideally coloured or upgraded to start making my engine bay nice!
  14. I dont have an LSD I have the standard diff - I chose the HKS as it controls both turbos and we have calmed the transition somewhat but yes it is a kicker! I feel the Falkens are especially the cause - ar emost people running 285s as oppose to my 275s then? my rear wheels can take 285s they're 9.5 I think
  15. Wow thats so helpful thanks so much I will ask a mechanic to do this for me
  16. I assume you mean camber etc? I actually put a separate thread on about this this morning. When i had the car restored I put another rear subframe with fully adjustable arms on but I wondered if anyone knew what settings to use on it as I dont have a clue. Anyone have any ideas? I dont mind uneven tyre wear if it increases handling.
  17. Mines a JDM Auto and I noticed it had wheelspin pre 400 before I finally added the BC to take it to full BPU to be honest. Clearly Falkens arent the way to go. Interesting about tyre wall though, so it would be better to stiffen the suspension and stick to better 35s we think like Pilot 4s?
  18. I'll post them separate so here goes for this one: At BPU my car has significant wheelspin from the line I'm currently on Pirellis front and Falkens rear (they have the shortest brake distances for my 18s apparently according to the tests) but now I need to get as much grip s possible are Pilot SPort 4s the best way to go? Most people agree they are but a tuner I know says Nankangs are actually a better tyre for a Supra? ALso I'm on a 35 side wall all round, he says I need to go 30 would we agree or does it make no handling difference at all? I'm happy to buy a new set of boots all round if it increases handling even though my current tyres have only done a few hundred miles and now I have CW fast road pads my stopping distance is good anyway. Any advice would be welcome.

The car is superb but I have a couple of questions that I am sure other owners have come across at BPU I need help with. I'll post them separate so here goes for this one: I was spending so much having my underside fabricated and repaired professionally I thought what the hey ets get a new rear sub frame as its similar cost to trying to find all the parts and bushes that disintegrated under restoration for my car, and I managed to get one with adjustable suspension. The mechanic says my car would benefit hugely in terms of grip from a little camber etc, does anyone know what settings are best front and back? I'm running on 18 inch wheels (275/35/18 and 235/35/18) and I agree beyond 120 or so it does need some adjustment handling wise as it starts to feel a bit sketchy. Any settings help you can give would be most helpful. I also have adjustable shockers set to mid setting (8) maybe they need stiffening down to 4 or so? I am a complete dumbo and I assume there is a tried and tested settings list for this level of power and set up?
  20. Nothing comes up as an alternative mate just a big discontinued screen
  21. Hi all Just a quickly (oo-er!) Does anyone know what screws or bolts are needed to go through the rear number plate into the crash bar? The official ones have been discontinued it seems
  22. Hi Does anyone have a set of sills, my Supra is (if they differ) a 93 JDM TT - I'm having the underside totally done and wondered if anyone had a set I can buy as mine are nuked - got cash waiting and some of it is real
  23. Yeah I guess it will look good if nothing else. It's all about the bling.
