We are getting away from the actual question anyway, does anyone know what make of BOV makes this staggered sound?

All of that is good common sense, some F1 cars did actually have BOVs though, especially the monstrous early Renaults. Anyone remember them? But I digress. I think if it has a tiny amount of safety thats great but we are basically looking for a cool sound to come out mainly which - like the whole point of owning a Supe - makes us smile. If it was all about speed we'd be ripping our back seats and door panels etc out and goodness knows what. Sometimes its just about the little pleasures

Mine has stock intake which conventional wisdom has told me is the best option power wise. I much prefer an induction but am going to try and get as far into the early 400s as I can power wise on stock turbs. I think the stock release is just too quiet but the single release just gets annoying and in traffic through town etc its just embarrassing. There is also a body of thought that BOVs do take pressure away from the turbs better and therefore extend the life of them which surely is no bad thing considering BOVs are pretty cheap. Besides which I love the staggered fi fi fi fi fi ala Noble etc and would love it on my Supe. I'm in no hurry as my underbody is booked in for October for a full restore and epoxy so no point shoving shiny bits on until all thats been done but I am just getting together my BPU shopping list ready for after that.

Hi All Anyone know which BOV is best for getting that lovely staggered fif fif fif fif sound like Noble etc? I will need one for BPU and the last one I had released the gas in a one-er and after a while became terribly tiresome not to mention scaring the general public. Which Make and model do people prefer? I want some volume dont get me wrong just not like I'm part of the space program.

Does anyone know where I can get this pipe from, its the only one I cant get even from Toyota and my AC is leaking from it - I've already bought all the other ones new and its pretty frustrating. Had to get two imported form the US and the condenser so a lot of investment wasted if I cant get this last one!

I sent them an email after you gave me this info (cheers) but they turned me down, apparently they dont do this kind of thorough work. Its amazing how few people do nowadays, I guess its actually hard work unlike a lot of jobs where its just replacing new pieces.

Do you happen to know the exact model of those Avens alloys, I have the exact same ones and need spigot rings, do you happen to know the size I would need?

I'm in Louth - I've looked nationally as I wouldnt mind taking it anywhere if it worked out cheaper its just these guys seem to have a really good name and happen to be in my county. I need a really good job doing too as there's a ton of surface rust under there and I want to go BPU but not until all this scraping and sloshing is done!

My Supe is really bad underneath in terms of surface rust but is structurally fine, I knew it was when I bought it and factored in a big bill to make sure it was done properly and got it for below asking as well. If anyone is interested I sent them a full range of pics and they charge £700+ VAT for a really bad Supra like mine or £1250 for the full enchilada with everything done and epoxy etc which is what I am going for. The £500 quote on their site is for lesser cars, ie everything else.....

Hi All Has anyone used Rust Busters in Spalding? I've heard nothing but good things from the vintage car people about this business and only one person on here that had a less than perfect experience, anyone had a Supe's underside done by this outfit and if so good or bad? I'm going for a full job and epoxy coat after now I've replaced my fuel tank shield and considering they have a 3 month waiting list they must be good I guess?

Hi All I know its probably been done on another post before to say the least but I am going to take my JDM to BPU level and I was wondering, assuming the turbos stay sequential what is the best affordable BPU set up for a JDM TT as in what bits work best together to achieve the most safe HP possible say within a couple of grand or so? Lets hear what HP etc everyone hit and how they did it and it will help me no end as the options seem limitless but all seem to achieve the same performance increases to within a few HP

I got rid of their 'turbo toys' under the bonnet and its running fine now, turbos are perfect. I've had it all checked out and it seems mechanically strong just need to deal with the rust and move on to BPU when its sound

Yes I am certainly not having what you are having done, it sounds like you're basically rebuilding the bottom end of your car. Hats off to you. I want it repairing and rust removing, injection treatment and preserving of course, but I also want to upgrade the car and as Scooter says you have to weigh up everything as a balance. I have another car so this one wont see many miles and nor will it see harsh weather so it should last many a moon if I get this decent job done and then as it ages all the underside parts will be replaced as needed anyway. I'd love to see pics of yours completed Burna

I've already had a quote from the Rust-Busters for under body, they're the best i the county as far as all the mechanics I bothered about it so I'll see what they do but I reckon £500 is a decent price

I completely agree, this is my third Supra and I knew what bed I was getting in when I bought my latest. My first, a Mk III suffered a catastrophic and spectacular engine failure and my second I had to sell when I started my own business or I would still own it to be honest. I'm having the entire underbody profesionally 'de-rusted' and whilst I can see all of it will be manageable, this guard is just too far gone. I will see what the engineer says and bite the bullet and get one if I have to. I think this is what ironically is going to make the Supra skyrocket in the next few years along with fresh market potential, the Supra is becoming more and more expensive to maintain and improve which is going to push the prices ever skywards as stocks dwindle because regardless of age, this car is super-car stunning even up to 2017. I've already had all brake lines (and all 4 pads, discs, brake fluid) replaced from the same area, you were bang Scooter on they were foo-kay'd. My car had been stored for so long when I got it 2 of the tyres cracked the morning after it was delivered! I'm going to see it as a multi-year project to make it exactly how I want it and as mint as I can get it.

Yes its starting to really go. I was hoping there'd be a way around it, can I run without one? Perhaps a bracket or similar can be attached. I'll go buy a new one if I have to though.

No I didnt view it before I bought it. In truth I'd seen the full video of it moving and checked the pics thoroughly but above all I was under no illusions. I wanted a early Supe, 93 if possible and I knew all the mods which came after like active aero were just going to get in the way of BPU/APU or add weight. I'm very realistic ad dont expect a 24 year old car to need anything less than a full respray, several parts in the interior changing, under bonnet rust removing and of course a full professional anti rust job done underneath. I knew I'd pay about 500 quid for this but also knew I could get this for way less than current Supe money anyway, they're starting to creep around 12k now for under 100k which is 4 grand more than I paid. Do you have any idea what type of alloys it has, I'm darned if I can find out and I need centre spacers apparently.

I actually bought this car. And yes it certainly does need professional rust treatment underneath and it did need a few other parts replacing and the interior will be renewed over time but I think speaking as someone who is on his third Supra and actually buys them because there's just no other car like them and out of a sheer passion for owning one, I think you pay for your pleasures in life and part of owning a 24 year old car is going to be the adventure of finding new replacement parts and watching it improve over time. If I wanted a car which was as fast and peppy I could have got one for a few grand like an E46 M3 or a N350, the list is endless. but none of them is a Supe. And owning a car which is 'as good as it ever will be' isnt as much fun as one which has almost limitless potential IMO. And yes Supras are getting old now, but they are also one of a tiny number of cars that as they age have become iconic and sought after, so as they get rarer they will eventually become rather valuable I imagine but not reflective on what you spend on them over time. I've already put quite a bit of cash into bringing this up to spec and will continue to do so, anyone thinking a Supra is the way to go for an investment is a brave brave person, there's so many easier ways of making money with cars if thats what floats your boat. For me its being able to drive a Supra and enjoy it.
