Yes I've outwardly checked all hoses etc but thanks so much for this info I have passed it on to Rob at the Japanese car specialist where it is going next week. It's defo turbo, its just like driving an NA at low speeds.
-
Thanks everyone, I am on it now!

Does Chris have a website? Or do I message him?

I've just been emailing everyone I can find, are the pistons 44.4mm does anyone know on a JDM front caliper? I have found a full kit for that size
-
Does anyone have any interior trim panels, I will buy several for the boot interior if anyone has any. Mine were all damaged when I bought the car and I am looking to replace them. Money waiting guys and gals!
-
I assume the brake repair kits for UK cars fit JDM cars, ie the pistons are identical in size there are just less of them? I am going to buy a set of pistons/seals etc to have my brakes stripped and rebuilt and I wanted to check as I can't find anyone selling a kit for JDM fronts. If not, does anyone know where I can get a kit for JDM?

Thanks for your help guys. Ok so I have driven it significantly more and it is the first turbo just not doing much, I can go along a road and whilst the boost gauges show pressure there is no increase in speed beyond engine power, ie its linear, until about 4000 or so when I suddenly get boost. By this point I am doing 80 or so (I'm not on WOT) so I am assuming it is the second turbo. The more I drive it the more 'puddingy' I've noticed it to be around town as well, which I am taking as a sign that it is NA until second turbo. I think switching it to TTC is a bit beyond me so I am going to book it in with the Jap car specialist and get them to resolve it as I would imagine it is just a blocked line or something as it's not pluming smoke etc.
-
No misfires, when the first turbo kicks in it does seem to pull more but not massively, but BC and gauge are both reading pressure - the spool sound is definitely quieter on that though. If carried on to WOT it then pulls at about half the rate of normal. I will drive it more today and see if I can gauge more. I would say it's running on one turbo but I can't figure out which one it is and obviously I am going to have to go a bit gingerly now. The autobox oil is bang on and was replaced when the rebuild happened so should be tip top. How do I put it into TTC? I assumed this was much more involved and I never wanted TTC as I love the power band of twins but if it helps diagnostically I am happy to temporarily do it?

Yeah, the car only had a service 2 months ago, new plugs etc. It's an Auto full BPU and has even had a full engine rebuild prior to the BPU and only done about 3000 miles since, all flawlessly.

Hi All So over the last couple of weeks I've noticed a small smell of petrol on WOT but no loss of power, and then this morning when I went to overtake it was like I had 'lag' and then the turbo kicked in. I am wondering if the exhaust is a little loose or if for some reaosn the first turbo isn't kicking in? on WOT later this morning it was significantly down on power overall but my BC is telling me I am getting pressure and the max is 1.12, any ideas? I'm TT 93.

Cheers for your help, I have been in touch with a different mechanic and will get this plan into action.
-
They're just the standard 3 inch decats from WhifBitz. I don't know why I just assumed the standard exhaust was 2.5 inch where it joined the back box?
-
Thanks for all the input guys! To clarify it is a 93 MKIV TT Auto and the fail (amongst a couple of other niggles to fix) does state there is a cat missing and also emissions level fail, I believe on fast idle but I don't have it in front of me but it definitely stated missing cat and emissions high. With this said and many thanks to Annabella for the tip off allowing me to buy a second cat last night .This should be here tomorrow and I already have the first cat from my original car so I am going to have these bolted back on and it should then pass both stipulations. My only question is do I need any kind of adaptor to bolt it back on to the rear section? Obviously the two cats will fit to the manifold and each other but how do you connect a 3 inch rear section to the end of the second cat? What type of adaptor is required or does it just fit?
-
Are the normal cats 2.5 do you know? And will I meet the emissions with one fitted? Also has nobody produced an exhaust system with a race cat or cats fitted that I can just buy and leave on for BPU (ish) performance? I don't mind spending some wedge to do this.

Hi All So my BPU decatted Supra (93 TT Auto) has just failed it's MOT on emissions for the first time ever. It's been BPU 3 years but I guess I got a real stickler this time. It has a 3 inch exhaust system with straight downpipes. Is there any 3 inch race cats that run BPU but pass emissions that anyone on here use and if so what sort? Any help you can give would be MUCH appreciated as I am off the road now by law!

I just took the bulb out and its lit up but when you put it back in you can only faintly see it, what's causing that?
-
Hi All I appreciate there are posts etc on this very subject but I cant quite get my head around it. To clarify, I have a 93 JSpec TT but I bought a new set of UK headlights from WB. One of my headlight bulbs has gone (although there is no error on the dash for some reason) - so which bulbs do I need, UK or J-Spec and what is the part numbers I need to order? Excuse my ignorance but I cant get the bulb out to check it tonight as its too dark to see what I am doing and I wanted to get them ordered asap (I am going to replace all 4 main bulbs)

I'll pull the starter relay then and do a couple of the other bits too, thanks guys, less hassle than taking a back wheel off! While we are on the subject of alarms Noz what alarm(s) do you have? I have been looking to upgrade mine but when I have done this in the past any one I pick just acts as a night time air raid siren periodically until I switch it back out again.

Hi All So I am taking my Supe to someone's house for a few days and just a quick question. With the sharp increase in value, even though it is immobilzed and has a crook lock on the steering wheel what is another easy way to make sure nobody can half inch it, ie stop it starting even if I tried with the key and fob, but without causing any harm. I remember someone telling me disconnecting the battery for a long period on a Supra does something to the ECU potentially which isn't good. O was thinking just pulling the starter motor fuse every time I leave it, would that be the best option?

No worries I can wait, it allows you to do a search and it looks like there isnt any panels on there any more but well worth joining for other bits
-
Does anyone know how long it takes to get approved for the Facebook site, its normally instant when I join but its been a few hours and I've not heard as yet?
-
Cheers I have just asked to join and hopefully will be accepted shortly to see what I can get.
-
I might switch back to normal bulbs then as they dont seem to fit in the other parts of the cluster anyway even though they should and to be honest I was not that impressed with the difference in visibility. I will switch back and see what happens as I still have the old bulbs cheers.

Hi All Does anyone have any interior panels for sale? I'm especially after the ones in the boot as almost all mine either have a hole or cracks in. It's like a small landmine went off in there before I bought it. If any of you have any of the panels I have cash waiting?

Hi All Simple one really, I lost a brake light (drivers side outer, took the cluster off and found it was a loose wire, I thought ok lets turn this into an upgrade and changed all 4 brake lights for LED P21s and soldered the wire back on. Couple of questions though. The warning light is still on on the dashboard, how do I stop that? it went away briefly but was back on this morning a day later even though all lights work. Other question is I was going to change the whole cluster (indicators and reverse too) for LED P21s but they only seem to fit in the brake sockets even though they are marked up as P21s on the outside of the cluster. The little toggles dont seem to fit, does anyone else have this issue and how do I get around it?
