Did mine using a kit off fleabay, once you strip them you will likely find some badly corroded pistons, which are available too, its an easy enough job, messy though, clean them up, reassemble, coat of hammerite in your colour of choosing, add some stickers and hey presto!

wanted Front Crossmember sub Assy - Fron Suspension
griffsplace replied to griffsplace's topic in Parts Wanted
Yep its a JDM, suprising how the rust has occurred on the top, the other side is not quite as bad, its solid up around where the suspension arms connects in. It was just hoping to spend my dosh on other bits, not this big steel lump. The underneath of the car was in a pretty poor state. Last winter I took the rear end back to bare metal, POR-15 it all and stonechipped. This winter I was going to complete the rest of the underneath. I did take a gamble on the car buying it back in early 2017. I knew nothing about supras, and there was no paperwork with it whatsoever. Still I only paid £3.8k, so it was reasonable, no bargain at the time, but I was hooked. -
So part of the front rebuild revealed this. Anyone have the steel front cross member, and how much do you want. I checked with Mr T and they are still available new @ £258.25.

Power folding mirrors on preface JDM car?
griffsplace replied to Nathanj1142's topic in mkiv Technical
I had a play with rebuilding a non working one, struggled to find a new motor, and some of the pieces on board were hard to ID, gave up in the end. I have some pictures of alot of the bits, once disassembled. I did think there was a lovely little sideline to had making new ones from the old ones as a pattern, lack of skills and determination, and that went down the pan. -
I was beginning to like it until i saw this review last night. I still think it is a good looking car. However the need for car noises through the stereo, Seriously!! I thought the pedal on the right was the volume control. Was a pretty poor effort as a review as well, but thats modern car tv, very little for the enthusaist.

Check those hidden areas, Another Rusty Supra
griffsplace replied to safcdixon's topic in Supra Chat
I have a cheap fleabay one that connects to my phone and it has been useful during my rear end rebuild, rust repair and treating, but the depth of focus is very very limited, and yes it will go through a hole, but beyond that you have no control to look up/down etc. -
NA-T 420g Manual Supra (Engine Build)
griffsplace replied to Nathanj1142's topic in mkiv Supra Projects
You seem to be doing what i did last/this year, though i didnt galvanise, just cleaned it up and POR-15 painted, stonechipped and rubber coated most body work. I used strongflex poly bushes on all the rear end. Have a good look over your fuel pipes, I got it all back together and then noticed one had got damaged a bit where it was already badly corroded, and leaked. Sods law was it was above the subframe so had to drop it again. Also put in all new brake hoses. Good luck, took me so long mine never got back on the road this year. -
Can i get two please

Bump, anyone know, need a drivers side one

I have a celica one I am going to try, again looks very similar, and cost me about £25. My faults codes give me 2 that have failed. I only found out after I noticed the wire had been cut and very badly joined behind the dash.

WARNING 15 year old brake line rotted through
griffsplace replied to paul mac's topic in mkiv Technical
Just got my hopes on having a couple of months of the supra on the road before winter runined. Starting up all fine but on checking around underneath there was fluid leaking??? a quick sniff and yep, fuel. Any current option for replacing. I am sure I saw a braided pipe kit recently but cant find it, anyone know what the best replacement? -
Sam and I would be keen

Why not just recover your existing ones, and they will look like new. I used interior innovations for new covers and are totally happy with mine.

Tidy silver machine, I noticed the headlights looked almost too clear, somekind of coating?? Also liked the clear side repeaters, especially good on silver, think they might have to be my next purchase to replace the faded orange ones I have.

Yes that one that seals the gap between the lense and the bumper.

Hi Anyone know if these are still available, Part no? I had a search of Amayama and Toyodiy, and cannot see them anywhere. Thanks Adrian

Underseal and Corrosion removal/Protection
griffsplace replied to griffsplace's topic in mkiv Technical
I am totally happy with the POR15, i did meticulously follow the instructions for prepping prior to application so i am hoping that at least the base layer is fine. It is the hammerite stonechip that i sprayed over the top seems to come off too easily where I am bolting things back together on top of it. -
After being somewhat disappointed about the state of the underneath of my Supra and wanting to make it last another few years, last winter i set off to clean it up and treat it, rear end first. Having read that nearly every product is rubbish or completely brilliant depending on who you listened to. I though it would be good to have a thread where like-minded people who have done this can report back on any pros and cons, and update on any degradation over time. I opted for: Body Strip back to bare metal where possible POR-15 3 stage (degrease, metal prep, 2 coats of clear) Hammerite Stonechip ABRO rubberized undercoat for the inside of the wheel arches. Small clips fittings etc just had black smooth hammerite spray, or silver hammer finish over the POR-15 Cavities injected with Dinitrol 3125 So far its still on axle stands in the garage, but i have noticed, as i begin reassembling that there seems to be very poor adhesion between the por15 and the undercoat which is very disappointing, but i am just going to live with it.
