  1. Looking for some solid upgrades to the stock NA brakes, ideally LS400 brakes but I understand they're not easy to come by these days. Anything going? Nothing too pricey! Thanks!
  2. Really wish somebody would tell me where I can get a GTE for £2,500.

    So much hate

Getting 170 miles to a tank at the moment in an NA5, o2 sensors are currently drowning in lemon juice though so hopefully I'll be able to report slightly better numbers next week!
  4. Yeah they got a drenching, absolutely horrible to get out. Looking at the condition/rusting of the exhaust manifold studs this is just a warm up.... Every time I settle on a decision as to which direction to take this car in, I change my mind a few days later. This has been the case since the start to be honest. Realistically the answer is to sell up and buy a TT Auto, but with my housing deposit slowly building to a sensible point this would just be stupid. However the absolute last thing I need is a Supra with a busted gearbox and half an NA-T job. I maintain I'll be going about it as planned, decent used components sourced over a period of months, I'm just being far too much of a wimp to pull any triggers... Tl;DR - Who knows Just gunna keep browsing/learning/trying stuff and see what happens. At the moment it's technically a very clean Supra, not sure it's smart to hack into it.
  5. So it's been a while since I've done anything to this thread, having recently quit my job and landed 1 month's gardening leave I thought this would be the best chance I'll get to start going about some work on the car. Disclaimer alert, I am not exaggerating when I say I've never wrenched something in a car before in my life. Read on at your peril! So the list of things to do this month- Refurbish Alloys Clean o2 sensors Clean/polish/(paint)? Heatshield Wirebrush clean Intake Manifold Fix broken HID problem and indicators Restore headlights/paint inserts black Touch up paint all-round various stonechips Fit new steering wheel Respray or re-wrap interior panels, all currently sanded ready for paint but I'm not sure I trust myself to get it right and the idea of re-sanding them isn't nice Full detail upon completion Here's a general dump of various progress/stages of completion photos. Nasty corrosion on wheels, not sure what's caused the lacquer to get so ruined, was fine when I bought it! Prior to being lemon-dipped overnight (this guide made this a dream job, can't thank enough - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?152779-How-to-Clean-O2-sensors-in-NA) A very horrible heat shield ready to be attacked in the bath... After sanding corrosion off wheels After wirebrushing and cleaning bay Gen 7 Celica Wheel
  6. Hi Fellas, Seems like this is a somewhat common problem, but can't find any straight answers from searching- so here goes. Today re-fitted the dash in a hurry, noticed the indicators and hazards have stopped working. Anybody know what that normally means? I've double-checked the connector is in for the hazards but it's possible I've buggered it

    So much hate

Wonder if people feel the same way about NA-T's.
  8. As title suggests I'm looking for a W58 clutch capable of handling a jump in torque. I've read a lot that the right clutches goes a long way to lengthening the life of the W58, if any members have previously ran NA-T and still have a clutch kicking around I'd love to hear about them! Ideally not too heavy on the foot!
  9. Holy hell, an A01B is worth between $1-$4k in the states?
  10. I know it's not much but I can offer you £50 mate.
  11. Currently using one of those ebay gaitor/gearstick leather jobs, the gearstick looks lovely except for the velcro join at the top (not really shown in pictures), I guess there's no alternative to velcro short of restitching it but unfortunately it does cheapen the look. The handbrake gaitor never fit from the start and I couldn't find a way of fixing the base... ended up just leaving it as I knew I'd be pulling it all out for spraying anyway. If you removed the rubbery stock handbrake cover you might get it to work, I was just reluctant to go cutting off OEM parts.
  12. When you can get relatively clean NA5's for ~£6,000 it's hard to see why a car that's sat for so many years in need of a respray could be worth more than £5,000. Almost impossible to tell without pictures/bodywork/maintenance history etc. From the little information you've provided (basically it needs work and a spray), with no tacky bodywork and a clean interior I'm thinking £4,500, but to a kid who knocked on my door asking about it, probably after watching it sit for X years, I'd probably be thinking £4k.
  13. Great car and a total steal! Even after the Supra replaced it I still miss how that engines sounds when you're wringing out. Keen to see what you do with it, I always felt options were unfortunately very limited as it seems to come out the factory with everything the platform could provide!
  14. I'm tired and I've kicked the hornets nest here. In short, I agree it should translate to the Supra, but for XYZ reason it just isn't (or at least it doesn't appear to be). I can point to 10 reasons why I believe this may be the case but now isn't the time, arguing over it seems daft. I maintain that we see a lot of single autos in Nicky's price range, we already know some excellent examples are in his budget, time will tell how far his 'champagne tastes' can stretch. To J_J who's since replied, I don't question for a second the value of your input on this community by and large, but if your investing/valuation credentials carried the weight you're implying they do, you'd be able to point me right. I don't feel pointed right. I can still highlight 20+ posts you've made with valuations I've found ridiculous and find you equally as many "Sold" threads reinforcing my position (but I guess they're all just 'bargains'). With regards to your snarky comment, 80% of my career is staring at markets/accounts for months at a time and establishing/implementing a successful sales strategy.... Oh and "consultancy" comes at a price, I'm not sure forum posts and a chinwag with Torque counts. Credit to you though, "Brokering a deal on a very nice limited edition GTR for a long term investment" might well be the most impressive way you could have possibly said "I chose my mate's car so I know what I'm talking about". I'll continue to respect you for your knowledge and contributions on these forums, and continue to furrow my brow when I see you spurting 30% above what the poor bugger ends up getting. Sorry for butchering your thread, Nicky, please don't make another one- I swear half this community has their eyes peeled for you already!
  15. Yes mate, absolutely, had to flick through his build log before throwing this out. It's an outstanding build, don't get me wrong, but we all see cars come and go on these markets with tens of thousands poured into them, and exceptional work from the owner, rarely does it transition well when it comes to market, also I simply don't see how a single conversion and a great ECU warrants mid 20's. I still watch these markets every day, still see lovely looking cars fall short of what even I'd consider a great price, so something is definitely off. I'd decided on this long before he listed his car. Only piping up today because he's mocking somebody over it. This is single, UK and syvecs with a hell of a parts list. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?342764-Renaissance-Red-Supra-Auto-Single-Turbo-1993-UK-Spec-for-sale With regards to your update, I couldn't agree more. If somebody with no budget decided to buy an auto Supra, I'd be the first to point them towards J_J's, but trying to convince every other member their car is worth 30% more than what it inevitably sells with is what I take issue with. That and the mocking those looking for 'bargains', it's funny though, I've seen 10x as many 'bargains' come and go as I have 23k autos. It's almost as if 'bargain' is actually just what people are willing to pay.
  16. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?343286-1993-Single-Turbo-Auto Surely a bit of money and work would bring this up to scratch for something near your budget? Also- How much interest has your £23k tiptronic gotten mate? I've seen a handful come and go since you listed yours. As nice as yours is, feel free to point to £10,000 of additional value it has over this- http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?343469-2000-Toyota-Supra-VVT-i-Twin-Turbo-Tiptronic. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?342764-Renaissance-Red-Supra-Auto-Single-Turbo-1993-UK-Spec-for-sale This still hasn't sold and it's a UK. When he wanted values people were throwing around £20k, what happened to that then? At what point do bargains become the going rate? Because the only autos I see selling are Can't wait to tune into your next comment- "Somewhat stock TT6 with 150k and half a bodykit? I'd be looking for at least £33,000, that's just what the market demands, hold out of 6 months if it doesn't sell, then drop it to £32,000, that's how much it'd cost to import". Nicky might make a few too many Wanted posts and I'd definitely agree he's been very picky with exactly what he wants for a limited budget, but if there's one person I've watched continue to make the most ludicrous valuations since the first day I joined these forums, it's you. My brain has actually begun to associate "holy shit, surely that's way too much" with "oh, it's probably that guy, nothing to see here". I hate conflict and I'm certainly not as clued up on these cars as most of this community, so if anybody wants to put me right I'll eat my words and appreciate the lesson, but you're the one person I always see talking absolute shit when it comes to prices, and here you are ripping into somebody for working on a tight budget.
  17. Full service 7 months ago, really strange you've mentioned the brakes binding, you well could be onto something as I've sworn in the gap between using the engine and the clutch to inch forward at traffic lights the front seems to dip harshly when I lift off. Surely it'd be much more noticeable if they were binding though? Think this is all pointing to a major service while I'm having everything sorted for the snail.
  18. Yeah, many people appear to be saying the same so I reckon it's just a necessary replacement job. Brace yourselves for a mega-stupid question though, I'll shortly be looking to go NA-T, should this influence my choices on O2 sensors at all?
  19. Thanks mate, as I sure most know I'm not the sharpest tool mechanically, found a guide for cleaning them and will purchase new ones if nothing changes. Edit: After reading a little more I think I'll just change them.
  20. I have filled it from needle under 1/5 and IRRC it cost £70+ at 58-or-something liters, still no more than 180. It's a daily yes (although only for 3 days a week as often work from home), seems crazy that a single turbo can get 200 hooning and I use nearly a full tank doing 200 miles on the motorway (perhaps a 6th gear slightly increases MPG on motorway but surely not that much). Currently at half-empty with 90 miles on the clock, something definitely seems off.
  21. I've often put my seemingly very low MPG down to simply the way I drive on my empty roads to work, but having chatted a bit more with some other owners I'm starting to think something has gone a bit wrong somewhere. I'm lucky if a full tank sees me 170-190 miles, having read the NA-5 tank is 50 liters that's about 13mpg.... I haven't seen any known problems or issues regarding fuel consumption before, but is there something I can check or change that might be leading to exceedingly low figures? Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks for reading.
  22. PM'd! Will definitely take these if they're an improvement on the standard 2/1 NA setup (finding it very hard to tell their size from pics).
  23. Maybe not a younger model but she'd probably dump me for a TT6!
